Game Threads Turning into RCMB

Submitted by MGoDC on

Definitely a disappointing game, but games like this sometimes happen. They can't miss a 3 and we cant buy one. Beilein is a great coach, and our players have been stepping up all year. Nobody thought we'd be tied for first in the Big Ten after Mitch went down. Sometimes, you just have to try to get better and make the best out of a game like this.

Instead, we have embarassing posters all over the game thread calling specific players awful, embarassing, sucking shit -- one guy said Michigan should just get off the court about 3 minutes into it. When did this board turn into RCMB? I sort've understand the angst in football since we haven't been consistently good in years (one good year, not consistently good) but our basketball team won a Big Ten title in 2012 and went to the Championship Game last year. We have a bad first half during a regular season game and suddenly our kids are all shit and an embarassment to the University? How fucking spoiled is this board? Michigan Basketball has performed well above expectations for 3 straight years, stop acting like you are entitled to win every game played and if we don't that means the kids can go to hell.

It's fine to lose. But the way this team is losing is what's so maddening. Our supposed stars are doing nothing, and we let one player just torch us for the second road game in a row. It really looks like a lack of effort.

As a reference point, the RCMB thread title for this game is "Skunkbears vs. Haunted Hawkeyes". Our game threads might not be PHD material, but they're not second grade level either.

Well actually

I think eveyrone has said stupid things in anger at games like this. Good for you if you don't get angry and can look down and shame the rest of us who do. But are you watching this? Stauskas shouldn't be on the goddamn court. Three out of four possessions now he's turned it over. No NBA team should waste a pick on Glenn Robinson III. But more than that, people should be angry that we look like we don't have a coach right now, like they forgot how to basketball and no one is telling them how to basketball. Dakich is really enjoying pointing out our lack of effort, and he's not wrong. Sigh. I hate Dan Dakich. But he's right, which makes me sad. This isn't a referendum on Beliein, but goddammit would you look at the shit we're smearing all over the court right now?

Yeah it's pretty annoying but this is the internet where beer muscles are louder than logic.  Just have to take it with a grain of salt, ignore the cry babies and try to find a post with some substance.

Because a lot of people are invested in Michigan sports and I've found that it can be helpful to share frustrations with like-minded individuals while watching the game. If you don't get frustrated, well good for you, but if doesn't make you better than anyone else.

I've invested more in Michigan basketball than most here, including 6 years in the Maize Rage during the late Amaker/early Beilein era where I didn't miss a single game.

I'm frustrated, but I'll never call amateur athletes names.  I support my teams and the players, I don't hold them to arbitrary standards.  I trust Beilein to hold the team to his standards and accountabilities and I'll be a fan and cheer for them win or lose.

I also don't agree with calling players names.  But making a comment that guy is playing like crap during a blowout hardly stikes me as "pathetic and sad."  We're the conference leaders and we're down 26 points to Iowa.  That warrants a few negative comments.

I agree on your premise.  In general, there are right and wrong ways to say things.

/impending "if I had a nickel" comment

If I had a nickel for every time someone on MGoBlog called Jordan Morgan a "female dog" or a "slang term for the female reproductive organs" I would be a very rich man.

That kind of stuff should be insta-bans.

Well most people, and it seems Michigan fans def fall into this category, are much happier when they have something to bitch about. Too many comments talking about how can you let this or that happen. Um the other team is out there and trying hard too. Try to know something about the game before you post your ignorance. Those threads are just a waste of time.

If you've got time, I can also tell you how I have a theory that most men have become bitches. You can see the evidence on just about every thread on here with comments like yours.

Oh. I kinda got the "idiotic, high school dropout youtube-level commenter who's facebook profile contains copious pictures of you taking pictures of yourself holding up your shirt in the mirror" vibe from your first comment, but you went ahead and made me certain.

Please, let's do hear about how pointing out your painfully stupid first post proves that "most men are bitches."

I'd say it sounds like good material for a thesis, but you've never been to college, and you assuredly need google to look up the word "thesis."

I stopped going to basketball game threads 2-years ago when these people came out and jumped on the bandwagon.

It's a joke.

It's very, very RCMB and the powers that be have let it happen.

If you "need a place to vent" about watching a college basketball game, then you need to get your priorities straight and the mods and the higher ups here should take a stand against that garbage.

They haven't and I expect they won't.

I'm not watching the game because I dropped cable this month for roku etc.  I stopped by to see how things were going and the first thread I see is this one.  Getting rid of cable looks like a pretty good move right now.  Its probably wrong when you start to enjoy the spleen of your own fan base, but its pretty comical at this point.

My u-verse bill went up $45 this month and will go up at least $5 the following month.

My morning has been wraught with deciding what to do.  I want to cut the cord so badly, but fucking sports man.

I think I'll switch to Comcast... I hate them but if it means saving $70 a month I don't see how I can't do it.

Fucking sports indeed.

I pay the extra 50 bucks a month for charter cable, and I watch nothing but sports. I need sports in a HD picture. Everything else I watch via download from tbp. I have this kick ass CentOS server in my basement with an 8TB raid array that I'm working on filling with every single episode of Scooby Doo ever.
