Funny commentary about USCs defense

Submitted by AlbMichFan on November 12th, 2023 at 9:25 AM

I was watching USC-Oregon last night because of course it's Saturday so I have to watch every game lol. But one thing that stuck out to me and was very funny was the comment when USC had it's first stop of the game. I believe it was in the third quarter and the commentator said: Something historic happened tonight, USC got it's first stop on defense rofl. I really don't like USC and their all show no action QB. Obviously I know Williams won't be there next year when they join little10, but I sure hope they continue their all offense no defense style, that should go very well for them...

Quite honestly, the low-key funniest thing that USC's defense has done all year is put the offense in a situation where they needed every bit of 50 points to beat *checks notes* Cal by one.

Offensively: Williams is great. Full stop. Their o-line isn’t.

Defensively: They are utter garbage. And the most frustrating part is watching Domani Jackson look lost when he could be playing opposite Will Johnson on the best defense in the country…whoops. Coaching matters! Pay attention recruits.

Their DB coach (Donte Williams) is reported to be a great recruiter. I wouldn't bet on any of their defensive coaches being even mediocre at teaching.

There was speculation that USC made him the interim when they fired Clay Helton in order to keep the likes of Domani Jackson in the class.

They did that at one of their earlier games, from a week or two ago. It might have been vs Cal, but it could have been someone else, I can't remember for sure. Anyway, the opposing team forced a three-and-out, and the announcers said something like 'Now, if you're a USC fan, we know you might never have seen this event happen before, on either side of the ball- what just happened is called a three-and-out!'

I think Lincoln Riley is going to try getting out before next season..I'm sure USC will try everything to keep him..he's never tried being a defensive team..without it, I doubt he has any consistency in the B10

I live in Oklahoma, and I have often had conversations with my Oklahoma fan buddies about Riley's approach to football. It's clear to me that he doesn't value defense, and thinks he can always outscore his opponents. Nothing else explains his long history of retched defensive performances...poor tackling..poor run fit...etc.

I saw a bit of the Alabama Kentucky game where it looked like the defense was actively avoiding contact with the ball carrier and let him score.  I don't know what the hell we are doing but it works in real time.  aDAPT bitches.

Pardon me for glomming on your thread but Sparty isn't worthy of it's own. Can anyone explain to me how Sparty held OSU to 3 points in the second half of the game?

I watched the first half blow out and stopped watching at that point. I was expecting the score to be 75-6.

I saw a reporter fawning over Ryan Day after the game and asking him to explain the extraordinary offensive performance of OSU.

What's the deal?

Your statement that Williams is an "all show no action QB" is just flat wrong. Williams is a fantastic QB and if you put a halfway decent line in front of him and a defense that isn't a sieve, he wouldn't have to resort to hero ball all the time. The guy gets so much flak for no reason, its ridiculous.
