Friday drinkin' what are you doing this weekend while awaiting football season?

I've been trying to cut back on the drinking.  It is easier to do when we are good at football.  That being said, I started my YouTube TV membership today so I can watch some Lions preseason tonight.  Come to think about it, maybe I should run out and grab a couple IPA's.  I'm probably going to need them tonight.

Taking my 3yo nephew to the zoo tomorrow.  Little guy likes to think he's a dinosaur - have seem him growl at various animals.  Should be fun.  Might take him out barhopping if there's time afterwards... have to teach them early, you know.

I'm unfortunately changing an alternator in my car for the second time in 3 weeks, since the nice new OEM part had a mechanical failure.   

Same tow truck guy showed up, so we're becoming buddies.

We are grilling brats with friends while the kids run around. Probably have a beer or 2 while manning the grill to keep my balance right and then will have some bourbon later on. I really like the bottle of Oak & Eden I bought last week. 

Nice collection of Wild Turkey products there by the OP. I'd love to find a bottle of the Russell's Single Barrel, but no luck for me yet

I'm doing 75 hard rn so no alcohol until October first for me. I have already purchased a bottle of of Woodson Bourbon for the Iowa trip. September is going to be difficult with 4 consecutive football home games with no liquor!

Got two bottles of Rip Van Winkle 10yr last year at MSRP.  Opening one this weekend.  

I'd love to taste that middle half gallon. Cheers!

I'll be smoking Salmon with competition blend pellets mounted with lemon, butter & herbs, and of course skin on! Melt in your mouth and crispy skin, Heaven. 

24 hour mountain bike race starting tomorrow morning so I don't think there'll be any alcohol consumption until Sunday. Probably just lots of powerade and iced coffee.

Playing in a historic baseball tournament on Saturday and Sunday, and whimpering in pain on Monday while doing my best Danny Glover impression:

Just got home late last night after a 16 hour drive from a week in Alabama at my mother-in-law's plus a night of drinking at a friend's in Atlanta. That drive included about 4 1/2 miles of walking, as I stopped at numerous rest areas to do a lap of the parking lot to keep refreshed, and to get my 10,000 steps in for the day. Anyway, I'm too tired to do much drinking tonight more than a cold beer or two, plus there's a lawn to mow before tomorrow's rain, and lots of weeds to pull from the flower beds (I was only gone one week!), and laundry, and house cleaning, and errands, and grocery shopping. Good thing I'm retired, 'cause I'd need a vacation to recover from my semi-vacation otherwise!

Water at the moment... but planning on some Jameson and a cigar later on while sitting out back.  With all this music talk today, I expect the speakers will be turned up a little bit louder while the live (recorded) music plays!

grilling burgers and having some pilsners here in about an hour. recording the Lions game and having a couple more pops once the kids are in bed.  

2 person best ball match tomorrow with some buddies. that should be fun and hopefully the weather holds up.

Bud light for now to stay hydrated,  but that's because I've been moving firewood on the tractor and it's August in Georgia.

Finished something for work that's long overdue so I'll relax later with a hochstadters 16.

Also have a slab of xm's beef ribs on the grill that have been marinated in galbi sauce. 

Hit my running/miles goal for the week over my lunch break! So I’ll be getting into some natural wines (Pet Nats) and getting my kit together for a camping trip next weekend in Maine. Getting my bigger outdoors stuff tackled before the season starts. 

Either Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio or Cabernet Sauvignon, both of which were on sale at the LCBO. Probably the Pinot Grigio.

Bombay Sapphire and red grapefruit juice tonight while at the travel baseball end of year party.  Team is pissed, kid is going with a different organization next year.  Oh well, parents are cool.  Food on the grill.  Probably a cuban as well, one of the parents has some amazing cigars.  

Newcastle Brown Ale tomorrow morning at 10:00am!  Howay! 

My family is at Lakeside Ohio, fishing, eating ice cream, and drinking canadian club with the in-laws.

Build a new mailbox post.  Rent a stump grinder; use it.  Have one beer and pass out.

i am playing golf tomorrow. other than that, i have no plans. i have been either travelling or working on my sons chest of drawers 6-8 hours a day every weekend since mid-may. this is my first weekend off in 6 weeks, and i have the next two weekends free as well, before i am traveling every weekend until early october. thankfully all the traveling is for fun stuff (family reunions etc.) but i miss being able to relax during the weekend. i typically play 1-3 rounds of golf every week from april to early november. i have played 6 rounds this entire year.

the older i get the less free time i have, which is ridiculous. i don't even have grand kids yet.

Sipping some Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ at my East Quad roommate’s backyard Hum n’ Strum. Last one before football precludes my participation in the fall. I prefer alternative or classical and this leans a little singer/ songwriter folksie but its still a good time with nice people. 

Tonight. Probably listening to recordings of Buddy Guy playing some tunes (Born to Play Guitar), having my one drink a month beverage (looking at a bit of Absolut with cranberry juice in a huge, ice filled glass), and maybe, just maybe, enjoying a fine Montecristo cigar (maybe). Pondering Life, the Universe, and Everything.

Tomorrow, younger boy comes home for a visit and we celebrate his promotion.

Sunday. Going to explore the best way to install a Homelink mirror in older son's car. Also going to admire how neat the garage looks with the new Husky shelving I recently installed.
