Fran is seriously one of the most pleasant people you could meet

He seriously must just have a limit that is reached upon which all hell is rained down on whomever has wronged him, but the guy is seriously a nice person. I even introduced myself upfront as a Wolverine when we were chatting, he was not an ass, was very gracious and I went so far as saying how much more I liked him than Alford who was an ass. Really bizarre to see him when he goes beastmode. My theory is that he does not regularly ride the refs so things simply build up and the top pops.

Is there a league with a group of more likeable coaches than the Big 10 has in basketball?  They all remind me of sitcom Dads-- even Ryan is like the rich, over-involved, mean spirited father of the protagonist's main rival.

Ryan has an interesting personality, but his teams are difficult to watch. Izzo is fine. I kinda enjoy his constant excuses - it's become his schtick. I don't like Matta because he chews gum all the time. Unprofessional. Tom Crean is a piece of trash. Knight was the biggest jerk, but he always commanded a certain amount of respect. Crean is just as big of a jerk, but he only commands the scorn and contempt of his peers and opposing fans. And he's a crappy coach.

Fran stared me down when I was hanging down by the sideline during warm-ups a couple of years ago at Carver-Hawkeye (in full Michigan regalia).  Then I said what's up to Stu and went back to my seat.
