Fitz on the Iowa sidelines at Iowa-Sparty game

Submitted by iawolve on October 1st, 2023 at 8:34 PM

I saw this on Saturday and thought it was some sort of AI generated image considering his seeming dislike of Iowa (personal super bowl since he considers them his most hated rival and he broke his leg at Kinnick which caused him to miss the Rose Bowl). While he has a black shirt, I don't think it has Hawkeye logos and the whole situation seemed odd. I was wondering it he was coming on as an analyst, but he was actually bringing his son and another recruit. I guess his son will not be attending NW..... HawkCentral has the background

Why is Pat Fitzgerald at Iowa-Michigan State game? (hawkcentral.com)

You can argue about that hazing oversight issue - but Fitz would be a good hire by Iowa or most coaching staffs.

Don't think the Sparty Board of Trustees would take a chance on Fitz, given Sparty's history.  LOL!

His gripe with UM is perfect for lil bro. Always mad he got pushed around because he is a tough sob for sure. Still will get pushed around methinks

I am sure he was in Iowa City to get his car washed or something along those lines.

(In all seriousness, I think his son is actually being recruited by Iowa and other teams.)

So now he can't be on a recruiting visit for his son and his son's teammates?

Christ. He's been fired. He's in public, clearly not carwashing anyone. And his son is on a visit (while he probably catches up with an old friend).

How is this a bad look?

A bad look would be...Iowa Football brings Pat Fitzgerald in as "Senior Locker Room Monitor" and hires Mel Tucker as "Third Party Vendor Relations Specialist."

Uh, the way I heard it from a Northwestern alum is that Iowa hates them and they don't know why, and when I asked an Iowa alum he was very upset at the mention of Northwestern because apparently the Wildcats win that game a lot going back to the 90s.

The guy's going to back on someone's sideline. My Ophthalmologist is a NW grad and told me people are pissed that he was going to be kept up until the newspaper story that released after no new info. Not saying the guy's a saint but that program fired him without due process. Only the Mel news drowned out the NW story.

Brandon tried to hire him post Richrod but was told he wasn't interested. Even a major Iowa fan, who hates the guy but us a friend of mine, feels he got shafted.

Yeah but he's gotta disappear for a year then start a couple levels lower again for the 'optics'.

Rich Rod got terminated at Arizona for some harassment stuff, and now hardly anyone remembers that story anymore; he's back coaching an FBS team and you can even mention his name without that stuff being brought up.
