Michigan did very well with RoJo. People keep trying to replace the original - pure karma.

Edit: Ugh, sounds bad. This is not a slam at any of the young men who have committed and been named Ron Johnson, only the people that insist on using RoJo if said player has  been within 50 miles of Ann Arbor. 51 years later this record stands - this is RoJo, RIP.

Walk-on RB Julian Garrett is also in the portal. That happened about a week or so ago. He was the third string RB in the spring game.

Actually, if a walk-on is looking to transfer, doesn't that tell you the opposite of what you are suggesting.  I know that with injuries keeping a lot of guys out of spring practice, depth isn't where we'd like it to be, but if it were that bad, he wouldn't need to seek transfer to get an opportunity to play..

so we've got Turner, Wilson, Charbonnet and then....crickets? Any updates on Evans or still same as it was in the winter? Not that there's anything wrong with those guys - Turner has a lot of promise, Wilson's a great pass protector and smart runner, and TBD on Charbonnet but he looks terrific. That said, sounds like we're an injury away from a 2 RB rotation.

i think this is the play, RPO with a TE wham block.  as he gets to the line he only has to shuffle right and have a running start into a safety trying to fill a 6 yd wide gap.  instead, he runs into owenu's hind end and the play ends.

This portal is really turning into a win-win-win.  A player who doesn’t work out for whatever reason but still wants to play gets a chance to try elsewhere.  A team needing players at one position or another has one stop shopping.  And the team that originally recruited the guy clears his scholarship for a new recruit while minimizing hard feelings.  When everyone seemingly benefits, it is surprising it took this long to establish it.

I agree re: the portal benefiting all parties so far.  It should improve parity somewhat if guys are using it primarily to find playing time.  I do have concerns about how quickly it would be abused if transfers no longer have to sit out a year. Teams loaded with talent would have incentive to "cull" the bottom third or so of their roster into the portal every year so they have more darts to throw at.... landing more elite talent.
