Evan Metrics and other players you can't spell/remember

Submitted by Blazefire on

So I was reading UM Hoops basketball practice notes (MGoLicious), and at the bottom, they had some stuff about Evan Smotrycz, which I can neither spell nor ever recall how to pronounce. As such, my brain always goes straight to "Evan Metrics", which we all know is actually correct anyway. However, it did get me thinking about what other players have names that people stumble over. We're not replete with Timoshenko Biakabutuka's anymore, too bad, but I'm sure there are still some.

I actually have problems with T-Wolf. I dunno why, but I invariably stumble whether in speech or in writing and I try to put an "r" in there and make it Woolfork.

For some reason I can't say Taco Pants... it always ends up being Paco Tants, or when I'm drunk (yes I think about M football when i'm drunk) I say Taco Panties.  Ah, that's a nasty thought.

To actually contribute to the topic though, I'd say I'm going inevitably going to mess up on the two Talbotts.

The reason why you think its Troy Woolfork is because the announcer at the Big House calls him that virtually every time. Next time you're at the stadium and Troy inevitably makes a sweet play listen for the guy saying "Troooooy Woooooolfork!"

but being a Georgia boy, it always bothered me to no end when people would say "Warwick Dunn" and spell it "Andrew Jones" (instead of Andruw).

Obi Ezeh still seems to get some people.  Is it pronounced "easy" or "ee-zay" or "eh-zay"?

One of my friends constantly calls Troy Woolfolk, Troy Woolfork.  He's done it so many times I don't even bother to correct him.

How do you pronounce Will Heininger?
