“Look… me and the McDonald’s people got this little misunderstanding. See, they’re McDonald’s. I’m McDowell’s. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. You see, they got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but they use a sesame seed bun. My buns have no seeds.” – Cleo McDowell

It's funny (sad?) to watch how much of a biased ass Herbstreit has become now that we're "back". It's as if, before, he could be find playing neutral because there wasn't really a competitive rivalry, whereas now it's obvious that he feels compelled to take every dig he can. He's really become quite the douche.

I think FSU will roll Lousville and Iowa will beat NDSU by 2 scores. Still confused as to why all the fancy stats think Nebraska is going to beat Oregon.

The entire game day crew hedging like a bunch of shitheads on calling Paterno a terrible person like he is. "Well some people he coached liked him and aren't terrible people so that totally balances out looking the other way and helping to allow children to be raped so he could keep winning football games"

I guess you missed the part were Desmond called them tone-deaf, said he doesn't like it or think it's appropriate.

They were just talking about PSU football men at the end there - they weren't talking about Paterno, it was his former players and the type of men they are. Which is a reasonable discussion, IMO.

They didn't do anything as far as I know...their (insert your favorite term) head coach and his coaching staff are a different story.

Herbstreit said he knows a bunch of former players so he must have done some good and then waved around all that other stuff. Desmond said he didn't believe Paterno could have known nothing so that clouds it but he did manage to coach players who aren't terrible people so it's a mixed bag. It's not a fucking mixed bag. Paterno putting winning football games above children being raped. He deserves no part of his legacy to be honored or held up.

I gave my two pennies below.

I agree with you, I just don't know if this programming and show is necessarily the place. Let's face it this is a positive, fluff, pep rally and it's Louisville's first time. They're going to toe the line and move on to people drinking and screaming.

If this was any of them as a guest on even SportsCenter (which at least tries to act like news), I'd expect the language to be A LOT stronger. If it was an opinion show like Russillo & Kannel or First Take...I'd REALLY expect it to be what they thought with no sugarcoat.

I guess that's just ESPN...and this show is basically sports Barney for adults.

Yeah, they went pretty light.  Desmond was the strongest, and he was still pretty tepid.

Being friends with Todd Blackledge shoud not cloud your judgement.

Hell, both my brothers went to Penn State and I can still say that Paterno enabled a predator, and Penn State needs to excommunicate him.  Period.

Even though he was a good football coach and had lots of great players that liked him.  That changes nothing.

Agreed. They were extremely light...I just don't think it's the spot to go on a diatribe on PSU on this fluff show. If this was something other than a glorified pep rally, I wouldn't say that. But the people in Louisville shouldn't have to hear a bunch of Paterno rants during their Gameday experience, IMO.

NOW, anywhere else, I think they all should be condemning what's planned for today in Happy Valley..

The Maryland/UCF matchup that I included in the OP.

That's the MGoBlog storyline game I was referring to...I actually may watch 3, maybe 4 snaps of it.
