wouldn't be that disappointed with the Rose Bowl, I would be irritated if we are playing Washington State, again.  Washington State?  Seriously?  Give me Washington or a resurgent Stanford.  Give me Utah, that is fine.  Washington State would be a frustrating "non-Marquee" matchup.

I would hands down rather see UM vs Washington. However I don't get wanting to see Stanford. They have been really disapointing this year. Washington State killed them already this year. At least with Michigan vs Washington State, the press conferences would be pure gold between Harbaugh and Leach

but Stanford, the PAC 12 power, Harbaugh's former stomping ground, et. al.  There is at least a narrative their aside from "the last time we won a Rose Bowl it was against this rather bad program also, what a concidence."

There's only two undefeated teams in Pac-12 play;  Washington and WSU.  Every other team has at least one conference loss and WSU's schedule is pretty favorable - ASU, Oregon St, Arizona, Cal, Colorado and Washington.  Every team other than Washington and Utah already has 2 overall losses.

It's going to be interesting to see how things shake out in the Pac-12.  If Washington goes 13-0, the next best overall record in the Pac-12 will probably have at least 3 losses.

I kinda prefer him be at these lesser powers in other P5 conferences. Makes sure he will never turn a program into a juggernaut and will continually be a thorn in somebody elses side.  Makes for great entertainment.

Especially given that Wisconsin led most of that game and OSU had to win in OT while Michigan seemed more in control against Wisconsin even though we missed 3 field goals. If OSU misses 3 field goals against Wisconsin they might not have won the game.

Oh well.  This will be settled on the field the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Maybe it's just a math thing. Before this weekend, Ohio St. had two very tough games left against top 10 opponents where they could slip up and keep them out of the playoff. No matter how they looked, they now only have one really tough game remaining against a top 10 opponent.

I'm not sure.  I think even if OSU loses that game they still control their own destiny when it comes to getting in the CFP, they win out, beat Michigan and win the B1G championship game then they're in for sure.  While losing to Wisco would have dropped them in the polls, their whole season essentially comes down to their game against us (just like ours comes down to the game against them).  I don't think a win or loss changes the CFP calculus that much

OSU will be a slight favorite (anywhere from 3-7) in part due to home field, which is ironic since their road B1G record is better than their home under Urban

A disappointment, IMO. ESPECIALLY if they ended up playing Washington State, that would just be a bleh matchup.

This team is filled with seniors with the best defense in the country. Falling short of the playoff with basically the rest of the conference sans OSU turning into junk would be a kick in the gut.

be disappointed, but not that disappointed if it was a better matchup than Washington State.  I would prefer that they moved a non PAC 12 team to the Rose like Oklahoma or A&M or something like to create a better matchup.  WSU would not be ideal, and a victory over them would mean very little.

If it was against another power. Washington State, I would be watching half-heartedly.

I just think with the way this conference is shaping out and the fact that a once-brutal schedule is looking really manageable, it's going to come down to one game (unless OSU somehow drops two before Michigan.) I'll be putting all of my "fan energy" into that game against OSU. If they lose, I'll be gutted and the Rose will lose a lot of value for me.

I think a rematch vs. Colorado is more likely than to play Washington State.

I'd expect either Utah or Colorado to win the PAC 12 South and the loser of the championship game is probably in. Wash State has to go to Boulder and play Washington still.

collegefootballnews.com has the same. Michigan vs Washington state in the Rose. After the last 10 years can we really be sticking our noses up at it? yep, F that!

As Bando thoroughly established on a thread months ago regarding the CFP Playoff, the lack of Sunday Bowls has nothing to do with the NFL, but instead is a result of the Rose Bowl having a "No Sunday game" rule established nearly 70 years ago and the rest of the bowls following suit.  It has nothing, NOTHING, to do with the NFL.

Per Wikipedia:

The semi-final games will be held at the Fiesta Bowl and the Peach Bowl as part of a yearly rotation of three pairs of six bowls. Their winners will advance to the2017 College Football Playoff National Championship at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on January 9, 2017. As with the 2015 season, the two semi-final bowls will be held on New Year's Eve (Saturday, December 31, 2016), as the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl are guaranteed exclusive TV time slots on January 2 (if New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the legal New Year's Day holiday is observed on the following Monday, and there is a gentleman's agreement to not play the New Year's Day bowl games against NFL games, which are played as usual when New Year's Day falls on a Sunday),[1] regardless of whether they will be hosting a semifinal game.[2][3][4]
