ESPN's Insider: Latest on Possible B10 Expansion
(behind the insider paywall)

Note that this starts off with:
We're not sure if there is an ounce of truth in this, but we thought it worth passing along.
So take it FWIW. Basically says: Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, and Mizzou to expand the Big 10 to 16 teams. Mizzou offer contingent on the acceptance of Texas and/or ND.
How would UT and A&M break away from the other Texas schools? I have no idea. Also, ND seems to be sticking their nose up to the B10 at the moment.
Only real thing this explains is why Mizzou is getting the cold shoulder / not saying anything themselves.
I dout that happens but that would be great news whether with or without ND. If not ND, just sign up Pitt or Rutgers or Syracuse.
take out Rutgers as a possibility and put in Maryland, if no ND. It'll be interesting to see how exactly this all plays out. This is going to either happen fast or its going to be long and drawn out.
I wonder, if the Big 10 were to pull this off, does the Pac 10 take Kansas/KSU and still go to 16?
Dear god though, I hope this happens.
No chance they go forward without Texas. They are the cash cow, and provide the solid academics the Pac 10 is looking for. KSU, OSU, Tech all have horrible academics. Stanford would veto anything without Texas in a heartbeat, and I still have questions on whether they will approve Tech and OSU as it is.
Texas also could be calling the Texas legislatures bluff during a reelection year.
If Texas is joining, then I send my regards to Nebraska who thought they were able to get away from the tyrannical rule of Texas in the Big XII.
This would be awesome. Away game road trips to cheer on M in Austin might be a little rough though.
or have I seen 2 different rumors in the last 24 hrs that say 'sources say texas is going to the pac-10' or 'sources say texas is going to the big10'
i think there must be sniveling interns in these atheltic departments that just tell people things and then they scour the internet to see how far their rumor goes
Nebraska-Oklahoma was one of the rivalries before the Big 12, and both those schools (especially Nebraska) really miss it and would love to see it return. So, while it isn't likely, I wouldn't be shocked if Oklahoma is included in the Big 10 deal. How's this strike you (pure speculation/dream)?
- Texas
- A&M (b/c you can't have one w/o the other)
- Nebraska
- Oklahoma
- ND
- Pitt
- Syracuse
Which would likely make:
East
- Penn State
- Pitt
- Syracuse
- Ohio State
- Michigan
- Michigan State
- ND
- Indiana
- Purdue
West
- A&M
- Texas
- Oklahoma
- Nebraska
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- Wisconsin
- Northwestern
- Illinois
but 6 plus 11 equals 17, AFAIK.
Or 11 plus 7 equals 18.
May I suggest you consult with the following individual?
I'm pretty sure Oklahoma isn't AAU, which would mean there is a 1% chance of them getting an offer to join.
at a porn industry party.
details?
Most random analogy in MGoBlog history... and that's saying something.
I feel bad for some of the administrators and faculty at Texas who probably would prefer to go to the Big 10 becuase of the CIC. Universities are about educating and research, and a school like Texas could really benefit from the CIC. Unfortunately, I just can't see the Texas legislature being okay with Tech being in limbo. Texas to the Pac-10 seems more likely in my opinion.
