Dymonte Thomas Offered by OSU, Promptly Says, "Haha but its too late, I'm Blue Nation now!"

Submitted by Michael Scarn on

To ease the pain of losing a recruit we never actually had, just know that his cousin, one of the best players in Ohio for 2013, is strong in his commitment to Michigan despite a recent OSU offer.

to Michigan has been the friendships he's created and the family atmosphere that so many of the recruits have talked about. Didn't he and Shane Morris decide to room together when they finally get on campus?

Not to be a downer, but seriously, he's only a junior in high school.  There is plenty of time for him to re-consider.  It would be silly to totally disregard the fact that Dunn will now be going to Ohio.  I do like the fact that he is really good friends with Morris, because he's about the only person in either class that I'm certain is 100% going to UM.  Coaches need to keep the love on Dymonte for the next year and a half.

It very well may not, but again, it's silly to just assume it will have no effect.  Dunn will get an entire year of talking up Ohio to Dymonte.  That will count for something.  Will it overcome his relationship with the staff and Morris?  I don't think so, but you never know.

"Hey cuz... it's awesome here."

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I'm their star back."

"Didn't you only have 501 yards this season as a starter?"

"Yeah."

"I thought Urban said he'd use you a lot.  Like 1,200 yards or something."

"Yeah.  But it's still cool!  I mean, check out these tats!  And I get a phat ride, too..."

Urban was on local sports radio today laying out his recruiting strategy for Ohio. He's effectively telling recriuits that Ohio's never been stronger, best days are ahead of them, etc. Also says he's assembling the best staff in the nation. There seems to be a rush to flip recruits and "refirm" commits ahead of the COI announcement of punishments. Wonder why?

Ohio just came off one of the best stretches in the history of their school under Tressel, and is now facing the NCAA for major sanctions, but now the program has never been stronger?  Seriously, why do people buy that?

Oh, and PS, there is a certain school a bit to the north that disputes that claim of the best staff...

I have seen both Dunn and Thomas live several times and although both are good, I really think we are getting the better player.

I realze that what I think matters to no one, so I'll shut up now.

Not to worry about Dymonte, love it!  Maybe Urban will use his premonitions of death and dreams of players in Ohio uniforms while he fulfills his new "Dream Job" as recruiting tactics.

I have a feeling that our 2013 recruiting class could be even stronger than the one we have coming in now. No disrespect to the guys from 2012 at all, but we already have players that we can actually build our offense and defense around in that class and there's still 14 months left until signing day.

The future is still very bright for this program regardless of who is coaching in Ohio.

This 2013 class you speak of will be the first true indication on the strength of recruiting with our staff.  The Ohio folks I know whined that they "weren't at 100% this year" and "didn't have a coach"...they have no more excuses.

Don't get me wrong, I loved winning this year;  a win is a win.  But nothing is sweeter than beating OSU at their best, when they know that you just beat their best.

Can't wait to see him suit up for us.

Whatever about Dunn, we have some RB's (Hayes, Rawls) I am looking forward to seeing out there next year. We can go home-run for the big recruit next year.

Plus we now have a spot in the class un-reserved for another...DL? OL?

Not really, but the irony of misspelling "grammar" while complaining about the grammar of others is just too delicious to pass up  ;)

All snarkiness aside, though, you're completely right. But hey, he's an Ohio kid. We can't expect him to be fully literate until he starts taking classes at a real institution of higher learning.

So is he still EE or what? And when is this NCAA sanction coming out, can't wait to hear it. But have to admit Meyer is heck of a recruiter. First steals from PennSt. MSU, and now UM(consider Dunn was slightly favoring us, so i say it's a steal). I guess Meyer's championships sell pretty good to kids. Hoke better keep this class together, and put on a statement in the Suger bowl.
