Donovan Edwards. Confirmed Dude.

What’s left to say about the kid? An unbelievable two game stretch but the ode to, and appreciation for, Blake Corum after winning the MVP is all time. No other team can talk about culture building until they look at a team that talks about their teammates like this one does.

To Glendale, and beyond.

I already knew he was a dude.  The coming out dude party for me was Will Johnson.  Jesus those were the two best picks of the year for us.

How many times in the last 20 years did Michigan football suffer a key injury that torpedoed the team's chances?

This time it was the next man up.  Donovan Edwards announced to the world what he was capable of.  And we roll on into the CFP.

And now we see the fruits of the labor.  Hassan Haskins departs but the backfield is still stocked.  in recent years past we have a 1, no 1b or even a 2.   the golden age of MSU football has passed.  they reaped the rewards of a downturn in Michigan football and had depth and success, they gained that depth at our expense.  And what we see from that fanbase is panic, they are on the other side now and they feel it.

We are seeing the reloading on the O-line, D-line, QB, RB & TE through recruiting, good coaching and occasional transfers.  What we are witnessing is the steady consistency of kids playing under Harbaugh 3&4 years leading to great special teams play, excellent execution and strong units.  That’s how culture is formed.  It’s interesting to see how the transfer portal and NIL would play out.  I think we all were concerned about it, these are things that can both strengthen or destroy team chemistry and Michigan has worked it brilliantly.  It will be a fun ride, strap in and enjoy it.

I mean what can you say about this team after that win? DE going full on arguing that his better half should be the heisman winner after a legacy performance. When the hell have you seen an OSU type team/player have this mantra?

golden ages- enjoy it before it’s gone. That chemistry after the game made it absolutely more enjoyable seeing how they play as a TEAM and not individually (cough) osu (cough).

Boy he’s explosive and valuable. But if we’re being honest, he’s not yet a bell cow the way Corum is, and is still a bit of liability in short yardage. I’m sure he’ll get there by next year, though, just as Corum did. Right now Donovan is a guy who gets six attempts stopped near the line of scrimmage and then busts off a 50-yarder. We just need a guy who can be counted on to get a tough yard or two if we’re gonna win in the CFP.

Mullings will take short yardage reps. We don’t need Edwards doing that. Mullings coming in doesn’t Telegraph things more than we typically do anyways. When dons cast comes off, we will see his untapped potential and a preview of next years offense in the playoff game without Corum.

I mean if anything Mullings has shown that he can take the lid off the defense with his arm.  Imagine if he had actually seen his receiver before he threw that pass!

There are scant few knocks on Donovan at this point - but if there is a minor one it's that he's not had a lot of success on short yardage plays.  Enter Kalil Mullings.

Side note: I love Mullings' and Sainristil's success switching positions (and sides of the ball) from a recruiting perspective.  It shows that Harbaugh is genuine when he says he recruits football players, and will give them every opportunity to succeed, at whichever position that ends up being.  (Hayes came in as a TE also, although I think everyone knew he would eventually be a tackle.)

I foolishly suggested that we more or less rest DE for this game.  If we did that we may have lost, or it would've been really butt clenching.  Then again, JJ may have stepped it up.  Doesn't matter.  They guy ripped off 185 yards with one hand on the ball.  He tore up OSU.  He's a home run hitter and I am appreciating his time here at the University of Michigan.

I hope there are some miracles at work to heal BC's knee in record time.  I want a fully weaponized RB room working in tandem to dominate the CFP.
