Donovan Edwards Appreciation Thread

Submitted by MS3 on January 9th, 2024 at 12:27 AM

From committing to Michigan in a snowstorm on live TV, to helping lead us to our first win in Columbus since 2000, to his 2 TDs in the biggest game of his life tonight… THANK YOU DONOVAN!

For context, he was asked about his frustrations this year and this interview from CFP Media Day (2 days ago) says everything you need to know about this kid. He’s always been a team first player and we know he’s heard about all his struggles on the field. Yet he always stayed ready for his moment, and he’s so deserving of it. Wishing him all the success in his future, wherever that may be. Champion forever!

I loved his vision tonight.  I think he had to re-gap on both of his big runs.  Hope he comes back next season, but he's already a legend and best of luck wherever he's playing next year (Michigan or NFL).

I remember two years ago when JJ McCarthy, Donovan Edwards and Andrel Anthony stayed on the field in the Orange Bowl to watch Georgia celebrate. I kept wondering if they were soaking it all in so that they could one day step up on the stage.

Goodnight sweet prince. You didn't fulfill your potential every game but you showed up biggest when we needed you most. Go make that NFL bag. Or stay to help run it back next year.

Either way, THE DON is a Michigan legend forever.

Donovan had an excellent night (giant holes with a simple cut helps quite a bit), but overall it was a disappointing season for Edwards.

I know at the very end of last season Edwards said he is going pro after this season ended.  Due to his lackluster 2023 season, hopefully Edwards sticks around for 2024.

Edward's draft stock dropped.  Another season at Michigan could get that draft stock back to 2022-levels.

I sure hope he comes back. The Don is so electric when he finds space. Things didn't click for him this season, but it always seemed like he was right on the verge of a major explosion. Hopefully this was the breakthrough he needed.

Thanks for posting that video. I hadn't seen that interview. It is yet another volume that speaks to how good his attitude is.

I really think he was the offensive MVP. On a normal team we would have rode him like a horse. He finally made the right cuts tonight and found the holes. His contribution was necessary, obvious, and awesome. Congratulations to the Don!!!

I’m so happy for him. He’s one of my favorite players on the team. I hope he comes back for one more year. Mullings and Edwards would be a great Thunder and Lightning combo. If he heads to the NFL, I can see a team trying to turn him into a Deebo Samuel type player who can do it all. He is a Michigan legend and has come through with big plays in the biggest games. Some say he didn’t live up to his lofty star rating but how would his stats look if he wasn’t sharing touches with Corum? He was a monster last year when Corum was hurt and he was carrying the load with one hand. He is a team first guy when he could have transferred to any other school and doubled his touches. Those who stay will be champions!

everyone is so happy for him

he hasn't had the year anyone expected from him. I had more confidence seeing Mullings tbh. And yet nothing but joy and positivity from him all season. So much respect

Proud of The Don! A lesser man would have pouted over not getting carries and being the feature back. Edwards stayed patient, put the team first, cheered on his teammates, and it paid off. Thanks for 2022 vs OSU and tonight against Washington.
