Even after reading the story I still was looking for "The Onion" at the top

Did he drop a Dom Bomb while swimming across?

It's unfortunate that this young man, in the prime of his life, has clearly become affected by a serious mental illness. While his career at Michigan didn't work out he remains a Michigan man and I think it best to offer support to him and his family.

Where is he hiding the stolen goods? Uh oh............

Overall the story is not a good one, but damn a 400 yard swim! That is impressive. Most people would sink and never be seen again if they had to try to do that.

400 yards in 30 minutes.
Michael Phelps will have some competition.

It's a good thing they had 75% of the SFPD there to deal with him. Jesus. He might have overwhelmed only three officers with his hypothermic nudity.

I'll tell you what... I'm impressed! He needed two hands to cover himself after swimming 35 minutes in 50 degree water? I'd come out hardly recognizable as a man. He must've gone in like a tripod.

I laft.

From my extensive experience watching COPS, I know that naked criminals are high on PCP more often than not.

Yeah, I was logging on to see if anyone else had posted this. This IS really sad. I covered the basketball team for student radio when Dom was a freshman, and one day, I was at practice, and Dom and Avery Queen arrived and looked like they'd just spent the morning smoking copious amounts of grass...I had just always chocked Dom's flakiness up to smoking too much pot, but it seems the problems run deeper than that. I hope he figures things out and gets the help he needs. I actually liked his game at U of M when he was controlled; he could score in bunches and was instant offense sometimes. Bummer this is where his life has taken him.

I have a friend who lives right off of Lakeshore, and that is one seriously dirty body of water. I'm surprised they didn't hose him down before cuffing him and throwing him in the backseat.

As sad and frustrating as this hoops season has been, I will take it when compared to the circus of a program during the Brian Ellerbe era. Every other week it seemed players were getting arrested for wrestling in the median of 275 or something completely idiotic. At least Leland Anderson parlayed his experience at Michigan into a successful C-level wrestling career...

I guess this was only a matter of time...^^^

Contrary to what many believe, Ed Martin didn't kill the program. It was the hiring of a guy with no local ties, with an aloof, disagreeable personality, whose only head-coaching experience consisted of a failed three-year tenure at a tiny school. Steve Fisher rescued him in the spring of '97 by offering him our no. 3 assistant spot. Ellerbe was lucky to even get that. For some reason Tom Goss decided, after firing Fisher, to make this man our head coach.
I am hard-pressed to think of a coaching hire anywhere, ever, in the world of sports that was worse than Ellerbe. Maybe some team on the other side of the world hired an ax murderer once. Short of that, I'm stumped.

I remember him as the guy who (in high school), protested a bad call by the referee by wiping his sweat on the ball and handing it to the ref. You had to give him points for creativity.
February 19th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
Well, given that he was a shithead of a coach, was he giving the ref the basketball equivalent of the stink palm?

In Homer Simpson's voice: "I have no idea who that is."
In all seriousness, I'm a close follower of M basketball and have no recollection whatsoever of this gentleman in maize and blue. Maybe I'm just getting old.
