Does Anyone have a good idea of what time the Indiana game will be played?

Rest of B1G schedule looks pretty shaky with the worst being PSU playing UMASS - i see that Purdue game on 11/4 isnt a confirmed night game  - do you think this could be a night game  - any thoughts - trying to book travel

If Purdue or Indiana are night games and MSU stays night game as rumored, that will give us 4 with Minnesota and MGSU our others, which I think would be a record. We’ve seen three night game seasons a lot under Harbaugh (2017, 2018, 2019) but 4 is unheard of. So I wouldn’t be shocked if neither are night games but if one is it’s probably Purdue.

I think the odds of a night game against Indiana are low. ND hosts USC which will be an evening / NBC game. What will FOX do? There might be MLB World Series / playoff - OR - Oregon at Washington. The odds for a noon / 3:30 seem strong.

It’s starting to get annoying. Like there are at least 7 stations the Big 10 can be televised on, I feel like that’s an all time high and no commentators really have a grasp on teams or conferences and no continuity. Maybe I’m looking at it through Maize n Blue colored glasses but i miss regionality of college football. Hopefully with PAC/BIG merger will levitate the weird schedules this year.

There are six B1G conference / OOC games that weekend - and, two times are known.  I mentioned that MLB Playoffs could influence this - but, a quick look reveals the two MLB games that might be played that day are to be broadcast on TBS - so, FOX will probably be looking for an evening college game to broadcast.

Where will Game Day and Big Noon pre-game be?   Right now - two locations are "more likely" - South Bend for the USC at ND game, and Seattle for the Oregon at Washington matchup.

The two B1G games with a defined kickoff time are:

  • MSU plays at Rutgers - noon - I'm pretty sure that will be on BTN.
  • Penn State hosts UMass - 3:30 pm - again, likely to be on BTN.

Which leaves four B1G games:

  • Indiana at Michigan
  • Ohio State at Purdue
  • Iowa at Wisconsin - this could be the CBS 3:30 pm broadcast
  • Illinois at Maryland (with ticket prices beginning at $ 6 / seat)

Elsewhere - some games mentioned above:

  • Texas A&M at Tennessee - TBD
  • Miami at North Carolina - Eastern Time Zone - possibly ABC at noon
  • USC at ND - 7:30 pm - NBC
  • Oregon at Washington - TBD - though, it seems like a good bet for Big Noon Pre-game show and a night game.

Of course - Colorado has been on a lot of radars thus far this season.  Colorado will host Stanford on Friday October 13th - for an evening contest.

The ACC game will be on ESPN for sure, right? The SEC one could be on CBS as well. so IU-M will almost certainly not be on CBS, and won't be a NBC night game. So it could be a Fox 3:30, NBC 3:30, CBS 3:30, BTN night or Fox noon game. Whichever of CBS/NBC/Fox gets first pick will likely take the Iowa-Wisconsin game, I'd think - and if it's Fox it'll be at noon, most probably. So is it fair to guess the CBS slot goes to either the SEC game or to Iowa-Wiscy, the Illinois-Maryland game is probably destined for BTN at night, and therefore M and OSU will both most likely be at 3:30 on either Fox or NBC? Possibly one is at Big Noon and a Big 12 game is on Fox at 3:30

edit: oh gosh i forgot there's also a peacock exclusive game too

FWIW, CBS doesn't have a B1G 3:30 game on 14-October.  CBS' remaining B1G games this year (they have 7 slots total) are Noon on 28-Oct, Noon on 4-Nov, and Black Friday afternoon (Iowa vs Nebraska).

The slots for 14-October:

  • BTN will have a DH, 12:00 and 3:30.  No night game (they have volleyball).
  • NBC does have a 3:30 slot for the B1G.  (prior to USC @ ND at night)
  • FOX and FS1 have all kinds of possible slots throughout the day.  They won't have any MLB playoffs committments that day.  The Big XII schedule this day is kind of butt, and only Utah is at home (vs Cal) among Mountain Time Pac-12 teams.  So the B1G filling Big Noon seems likely.
  • Peacock, who knows, but supposedly they're taking a game this week.  Ohio State has NOT appeared on Peacock yet.  The NBC execs probably want them at least once, they are a big fanbase to monetize.

Wild-ass guess, but I could see something like:

  • BTN: MSU @ Rutgers and Massachusetts @ PSU DH (I agree with you).
  • NBC 3:30: OSU @ Purdue  (NBC will not have had a B1G OSU game yet; Peacock keeps OSU @ Rutgers in their back pocket for the future)
  • FOX Noon: Indiana @ Michigan  (U-M has not had a FOX Noon game yet)
  • Iowa @ Wisky and Illinois @ Maryland: split between FS1 and Peacock, who knows what times.

Hoping for the noon start - would prefer 1:00 if available.  Last week was perfect.  Went up to A2 in the morning.  Perfect day for a game.  Made it back home to watch third base take on golden dome.

Correct--Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue and Maryland are still time & network tbd.

Indiana game time will be announced either October 2 or October 8. I really have no feel for how this works this year with like 35 different networks involved in showing Big Ten games.

Though nothing has been posted - or - "official", the Purdue game is on Parents weekend.  Two years ago - the scenario was very similar - night game (but the opponent was Indiana).

Here's a link from this past summer which indicates a "tentative" evening game for Purdue at Michigan - November 4th.   https://wolverineswire.usatoday.com/2023/07/26/two-more-michigan-football-games-tentatively-scheduled-for-night/

Back in July, some guy going under the name "Brett McMurphy" tweeted that the Michigan-Purdue game would be a night game. There was no official confirmation from either team and no official announcement from NBC (the network that this "Brett McMurphy" Twitter account said was lined up to telecast the game).

Now it might actually be a night game, but be careful not to take that prediction too seriously--at about the same time people were confidently saying that Michigan-Nebraska would be a noon game.

The Glee Club is in the afternoon - from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.   I already have my tickets...

After that concert - there will be some additional pre-game festivities and - the game at night.   The key thing will be "appropriate attire" - based on the weather - and, any need to change clothing.

I have it in our family calendar as 12PM-5PM, which means we do not yet know the time of the game.

Once we know the time of the game, I switch the time in the calendar to the confirmed game time.  They used to be logged as 3.5 hour events.  With the new rules re: stoppage of time, they are now being logged as 3 hour events.

This is my system, and I'm sticking to it!

Michigan hasn't had a "Big Noon FOX" game yet, and this may be the only chance for one of those games prior to 11-November (at Penn State).  This presumes FOX takes PSU @ OSU for Noon on 21-October (fairly safe bet).

So FOX may pick IU @ Michigan for Noon simply because of that.

(Michigan does play Purdue on 4-November, but CBS has Noon B1G games on 28-Oct and 4-Nov.  That's not to say FOX couldn't also have a B1G game at Noon, but I think it's less likely.  The B1G would have an interest in protecting their OTA partners)

I was told from someone at the university that the plan for Purdue was a night game.  Was told quite some time ago. BUT... they've backed off of that a little, based on how Purdue is playing.  Not sure how valid that is, but I went ahead and booked a hotel a while out for that reason.  I looked last week at some different hotels to change up our stay and the prices indicate that they know/think it's a night game too.

Haven't heard anything on IU yet.

On the Indiana weekend, NBC has the USC-ND game at night, and CBS has a noon & 3:30 SEC doubleheader. I wouldn't be surprised if NBC trades slots with CBS like they did last weekend with the NBC Big Ten game at 3:30pm and CBS Big Ten at 7:30, but nothing has been announced yet.

Noon if I have to guess...but with all the new tv contracts guessing has become very difficult.  Good chance we know on Monday...really hope my guess I'd correct as I have a flight to Tampa at 7pm that evening.

Noon or 330 is fine. Went to a 2021 November IU at UM game that made NO sense being that late (night game). I'm planning for Purdue to still be 7 or 730 kickoff and have made hotel plans accordingly.

Look at the B1G schedule for the Purdue at UM weekend. Only PSU at Maryland may make more sense, but perhaps FOX takes that as Fox noon Sunday. Still hoping for the last home night game to be Purdue.
