Devin Gardner @ Elite 11
Without posting too much premium content, Barry Every over at Rivals has put together an analysis of the Elite 11 QBs. He reported DG had some trouble throwing when on the run to his right, but has fantastic accuracy and zip when throwing in the pocket and when throwing deep.
Every goes on to compare DG to one Mr. Pryor, and says he is torn between Gardner and Bolden for who he would build a college football team around.
High praise indeed.
Because everything I have heard is that he is much better throwing on the run and breaks down in fundamentals when setting up in the pocket. As long as he's consistently inconsistent the coaches will know where to start.

well COLOR ME EXCITED
The fat little legs comment earlier was also quality.
That was quality too.
Thank you both!
how does this compare to Tom Brady in 11th grade.
Brady never wore braces.
Brady wasn't even starting for his varsity team when he was in 11th grade...
Brady was impregnating the tallest and skinniest senior girls at a much higher rate.
Wait he wouldn't want to build his team around Boisture? Oh, so maybe MSU doesn't own us in recruiting the state of Michigan.
this guy obviously just doesn't know what he is talking about.
What a great attitude Boisture has
The happiest guy at the Elite 11!!!
Is he better or worse than Dyson Blades?
Dyson Blades has a much larger collection of Safari hats. There are also rumors he's started doing Bikram Yoga, so in a few weeks he could potentially have better abs than Gardner as well.
I think of this - he wont, in theory, start until his junior year. Plenty of time for Rodriguez and McGee to mold this athlete into a star.
Sounds like he's getting glowing reviews from all involved

Devin Gardner - After coming back from the Elite 11 last night, I rewatched tape of Devin Gardner. This isn't the same quarterback that teams saw a year ago. If I only had junior film to judge him on, I'd push to have him moved to another position. What I see out there now, while still raw, is a big framed quarterback that holds his own, in some cases, exceeds his Elite 11 counterparts in a camp that showcases pure passing skills.
going to be ridiculous. people think pryor's good...
I would have loved to see them duke it out, probably not considering Pryor probably will go to the league early and I don't know if Gardner will be a true freshman starter....
switches to receiver or becomes a good passer overnight (neither of which i see happening) i don't think it would be the best idea for him to leave early.
Does it have to be a good idea?
*cough* Wildcat *cough*
I don't think Pryor will be good enough as a pocket passer to go to the NFL early. I think Tressel will continue to misuse him, and he will stay long enough to be 1-3 against UM.
Easy there, don't get us too excited, we have a long wait ahead. I think I'm going to try to catch an Inkster game this year.
This offense would be so much more explosive with a star at QB. The only question is why is he ranked in the 170's? Every camp type thing he goes to he dominates. Even when he screws around and plays receiver, no one can cover him. He is a special talent.
If I didn't blackout from rage for a couple minutes, I think I would've beat you...
It happens.
On paper the two of them seem nearly identical (size, offers, suspect mechanics), yet TP was ranked #1 in the nation and DG is sitting at #171 overall and the #2 DT QB and it's not even a good year for QB's. DG has FUCKED SHIT UP, as they say, at every camp he's gone to and even shown great progress with his mechanics from a year ago. Was TP invited to the Elite 11 camp? I just don't get it. Are the Angry Michigan Recruiting Hating Gods really that powerful to explain all of this?
Gardner's already committed, no drama for a 5 star who committed during spring of his junior year. (Ugh, just typing that makes me want to put my tin foil hat back on...)
he's not getting the coveted fifth star because he committed so early. Hmmm?
This is a serious question: does Gardner have the same kind of game tape that Pryor had? I remember seeing highlights of Pryor running for days over defenses. Maybe they just don't feel Gardner has been as impressive in live action
I would still only offer Montana's son until he turned me down, THEN I would go after DG.
to me now that we will need to create a special jersey number for Mr. Gardner to wear. One which signifies even more importance than the #1 jersey.
I suggest that Mr. Gardner be issued jersey 'A.'
Saucy!
Gardner = (Tate's arm - Marinovich) + Denard's legs + Will Johnson's strength?
