Deone Walker dropping top 5 today. Huge DT which we hold all the crystal balls for.

Hoping for no surprises. Dude is a giant and would be a huge change as a DT than what we've recruited under D. Brown. 6-6, 340lbs #53 DL according to 247 composite, 3* on the border of a 4*.

He has made several comments about suggesting he is coming to UM, and has got to be one of our top remaining prospects. Especially after Finkley left us out of top 3.

Holds a nice offer list, including LSU, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, and Texas.

That's an extremely impressive offer list for a 3*. Clearly everyone else sees something in this kid and that's usually a good sign.

Would happily have a big ol' run stuffer. You know, the kind of guy who prevents teams like Wisconsin from lining up and running the ball down Michigan's throat with absolute impunity. Harbaugh simply can not let this guy leave the state.

Go Blue, Deone!

I'm so glad we are not doing only the 'grow a tackle' thing anymore. Size isn't the only important thing, but it certainly helps when facing the Wisconsins of the world.

Also worth noting that Walker has really worked on his body and analysts potentially see his upside being highest at OT. So Walker could be a Rayshaun Benny type who is almost an equally good prospect on both sides of the ball

Wonder if Wilcher taking a job at MSU will factor into this recruitment at all with both previously being at Cass Tech together.  Hope that is not the case and will feel better if MSU is omitted from his top 5 once it is released.

Can MSU recruit him? I thought Wilcher taking an off-field position at MSU meant they couldn't recruit Cass Tech for two years.

Edited. I just saw this in the Free Press (sorry):

NCAA rules also typically require anyone in the previous two recruiting cycles who played for Wilcher to be deemed ineligible.

I didn't realize that previous recruiting classes are also affected when a coach is hired for an off-field position. The only player for MSU that this would apply to was given a waiver by the NCAA because he was recruited by Dantonio, not Tucker.

Is that a new rule?  Just thinking back to Chris Partridge and Ron Bellamy's hires and recruitments of Rashan Gary, Donovan Edwards, Dillon Tatum and if it is different than the Wilcher hire.

College Football seemed so much more simplistic 10 years ago....now idea what the heck is going on anymore it seems with all of the changes.

It seems like for this year, when the scouting sites have someone at 3 stars, ignore the stars and look at the offers.  I’m really interested to see how they reevaluate this fall.

For how poor we looked last year, we are doing pretty well recruiting this cycle. One good season I think we’re fully back on track
