Deone Walker dropping top 5 today. Huge DT which we hold all the crystal balls for.
Forgot to say top 5 dropping tomorrow!!

Hoping for no surprises. Dude is a giant and would be a huge change as a DT than what we've recruited under D. Brown. 6-6, 340lbs #53 DL according to 247 composite, 3* on the border of a 4*.
He has made several comments about suggesting he is coming to UM, and has got to be one of our top remaining prospects. Especially after Finkley left us out of top 3.
Holds a nice offer list, including LSU, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, and Texas.
I echo and cube the HUGE sentiment.
Sabb is committing soon too and has us in his top 6. If we land him....
A Saab would go well with a BMW X5. Oops, wrong thread.
Figured I'd add this on the top comment. But his top 5 are Michigan, Missouri, Georgia, ASU, and Kentucky. Clink was his primary recruiter at Kentucky so you have to think that's a definite dead end.
That’s an impressive offer list. More important than the stars.
Walker is an absolute must get for Michigan. Would be stunned and frustrated if he doesn't end up in Ann Arbor.
That's an extremely impressive offer list for a 3*. Clearly everyone else sees something in this kid and that's usually a good sign.
Would happily have a big ol' run stuffer. You know, the kind of guy who prevents teams like Wisconsin from lining up and running the ball down Michigan's throat with absolute impunity. Harbaugh simply can not let this guy leave the state.
4 star rivals. He will be 4 star everywhere soon.
I think we have quite a few 3* that will be 4 soon
I think atleast one scout said that he has never seen a player improve more in a year than Walker has. I would be surprised if he jumps to mid-high 4 Star.
I think we are seeing the COVID impact on stars. Seems like a lot of them are way off as no one was able to see these guys live just until recently. Going to be interesting to see how these young guys look 2-3 years from now. Maybe we got some GOLD in our current class
Clearly under rated due to Covid…. ( did I get that right)
Deone to Nua
Excellent. We need a 340lb DT so he can dominate a 339lb guard. Love all the attention on weight lately.
Definitely need the beef. Heard on the various podcasts he may eventually be an OT though. Either way it looks good here from what I can feel
I hope not. We have enough tackles it's one of the only positions where we've recruited well.
We don't any 340 pound defensive tackle bodies.
Walker is getting the Benny treatment where Michigan will take him at either position. Many think his ceiling is higher at OT, but if he wants to play DT, he’ll play DT
Underrated comment.
I continue to be amazed at the number of MGoBoners that occur when Wisconsin football is mentioned (even indirectly).
I think we've found out where the beef is!
Go Blue, Deone!
I'm so glad we are not doing only the 'grow a tackle' thing anymore. Size isn't the only important thing, but it certainly helps when facing the Wisconsins of the world.
Pretty much. I'm not convinced we'll be able to do much to slow down the OSU running games of the world until I physically see it happen. Much less stop them. But a Wisconsin running game? That is well within Michigan's capability to do. And this is the kind of kid who can help you do it.
Also worth noting that Walker has really worked on his body and analysts potentially see his upside being highest at OT. So Walker could be a Rayshaun Benny type who is almost an equally good prospect on both sides of the ball
Hoping it’s just 5 block Ms
Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Marshall, and Maryland
Dropping a top five with all Michigan hats would be epic and unprecedented. It would have to be immediately followed by a commitment though, which I could live with.
Adding this to my list of ways to troll the recruiting process.
dropping a top 10 with 9 OSU* hats and one Michigan hat, then picking the Michigan hat, would be great also.
*also works with MSU or ND
Wonder if Wilcher taking a job at MSU will factor into this recruitment at all with both previously being at Cass Tech together. Hope that is not the case and will feel better if MSU is omitted from his top 5 once it is released.
Can MSU recruit him? I thought Wilcher taking an off-field position at MSU meant they couldn't recruit Cass Tech for two years.
Edited. I just saw this in the Free Press (sorry):
NCAA rules also typically require anyone in the previous two recruiting cycles who played for Wilcher to be deemed ineligible.
I didn't realize that previous recruiting classes are also affected when a coach is hired for an off-field position. The only player for MSU that this would apply to was given a waiver by the NCAA because he was recruited by Dantonio, not Tucker.
Per NCAA rules MSU cannot take a Cass kid for two years now that they've brought on Wilcher.
Is that a new rule? Just thinking back to Chris Partridge and Ron Bellamy's hires and recruitments of Rashan Gary, Donovan Edwards, Dillon Tatum and if it is different than the Wilcher hire.
College Football seemed so much more simplistic 10 years ago....now idea what the heck is going on anymore it seems with all of the changes.
Is that a new rule? Just thinking back to Chris Partridge...
It's actually referred to as the *Partridge Rule* on the board for precisely this reason. Apparently the NCAA didn't like it once we started doing it.
Sparty writers believe they are allowed to recruit '23 Cass Tech DL Jaylen Thompson as long as he's not an early enrollee. Is that correct?
Interesting. Pretty sure MSU offered recently so we will see. Looks like he is following Walter Nolans recruiting so I'd imagine he will have a similar top 5. Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and LSU maybe since Deone doesn't have the Alabama offer.
Nolen
Bridesmaid, maybe just an usher.
It seems like for this year, when the scouting sites have someone at 3 stars, ignore the stars and look at the offers. I’m really interested to see how they reevaluate this fall.
Dude's not a 3 star with that offer list. He should be a good one
To be clear though, this announcement is just his top 5, not his actual commitment, correct?
His tweet as noted says he is dropping his top 5 today.
"Michigan Holds Defensive Tackle's Balls. Film at 11."
Top 5
ASU
Michigan
Kentucky
Missouri
Georgia
