Denard Post Game Comments
After tonights game it is good to see that Denard has become a leader on this team. I always hated the Tebow post game "no team will try harder" speach, but I like what Denard had to say following tonights loss.
"I want to say sorry to everybody who watched football, watched Michigan football and whoever follows Michigan football, I want to say sorry and it won't happen no more. I am going to be accountable for the rest of the season. I'll tell you that much."
Most disappointed I've been in I don't know how long, the 22 years I've been living, this is the most disappointed I've been in myself.

I hope we can put this behind us and move into B1G play and get a big win two weeks from now at Purdue.

if any of tyou had followed michigan football for any ammount of tim you would see how disgraceful how painful this performance is. You guys are used to seeing Denard piss away his talent I'm done. he is not accountable for anything! if he was he would have seen how inportant this game! how important any game is and not chose to throw it away as if he was throwing a bottle of coke in the trash. Fuck Denard Rpbinson and any of you who worship him. He is is the worst QB in michigan history! is he was accountable he would come out next wek as a RB or a wide receiver. he is uncoachab;e.... i'm phisiacably hutrt by this loss fuck him and everything he stands for

Wolverman has been caved, which is good, but in doing so a bunch of conversations in this thread now go as follows:
- Comment: "Denard seems like a class act"
- Response: "Die in a fire"
If a response seems overly harsh... that's why.
Side note: Holy hell, that was an impressive flameout. We don't see those often anymore.

Can't help but love Denard.

Happy Birthday Denard. We still love you even though you won't win as many Heismans as Brady Quinn or Jimmy Clausen.

I should make a video of your posts set to Yakety Sax.

Cool I'll give you plenty of coverage and maybe you can clip it with every just plain retarded Denard Robinson interception. For every game he has Won he has cost Michigan so much more.
September 23rd, 2012 at 10:03 AM ^
Dude, your work is obviously much appreciated in these parts, but I think most of us aren't really ready for jokes at Denard's expense right now.
September 23rd, 2012 at 10:47 AM ^
It is what it is. I'm not laughing either.
EDIT: I was replying to the troll who was banned/deleted, not OMG Shirtless.

And his two Heismans.

The four Musburger predicted after he had, I believe, a nice first half against Northwestern.

Nah that was Beano.

I love Denard. He is a wonderful kid, and always conducts himself with incredible class and dignity.
So remember that when I say: Man, I really wish he was a better quarterback. :(
For his sake, I could almost wish Rodriguez had stuck around. Not that I think Michigan would be better overall, but I'm pretty sure HE would be more effective. I'm not blaming Hoke/Borges. I know a lot of the numbers show Denard improving, and I think in some ways he has. It seems clear to me though, that he is not going to become the game managing QB in the passing game that we need him to be, and the RRod offense would avoid his vulnerabilities.

and part of his struggles come from trying to hard. He can't stand to just eat the sack, but sometimes that's what you have to do.
September 23rd, 2012 at 2:56 AM ^
As much as this game pissed me off how could you really get mad at this kid?? So humble I still believe in him. This loss changes nothing. BIG championship is still the goal and considering the showing the rest of the conference made this week im more confident then ever!!!

Todd Collins wasn't good enough. Dreisbach wasn't good enough. Henson wasn't good enough. Navarre wasn't good enough. Henne wasn't good enough. Forcier wasn't good enough. Denard is not good enough. Please tell me, when was the last time you were happy with your QB?
September 23rd, 2012 at 3:11 AM ^
Henson was awesome.
September 23rd, 2012 at 3:24 AM ^
If only we now had a guy with a better completion percentage, YPA, yards and TD's...
September 23rd, 2012 at 8:33 AM ^
Eh, he had his moments, but people blow up his greatness because (a) he only played for about a season, (b) that season the team had an amazing set of offensive talent, and (c) he beat a couple of teams. He still lost 3 games despite having an elite defense and Anthony Thomas running for 1700 yards in the backfield. He was a very good QB, but I was in the stands for those games and he made his fair share of mistakes. Put Denard on those teams and he'd have similar stats, if not better.
September 23rd, 2012 at 8:47 AM ^
TBF, Henson only lost two of those games in 2000 (he was out vs. UCLA) and the defense did not help in that now infamous NW game but yeah, he did have AT, Hutch, Terrell, Walker, Maurice Williams, Brandt, and Backus.
September 23rd, 2012 at 11:54 AM ^
that elite D gave up over 50 pts to NW. it was henson's poor play that lost that game when his team scored 51. i guess henson fumbled that ball when the game should have been over too.
it was also likely henson's poor play that cost the game at purdue on a last second field goal. when his O scored 30+. drew brees' team went to the rose bowl that year.
those were his two losses.
henson's year was the best i've ever seen by a UM QB. lloyd had to put him in the illinois game after navarre dug a big hole. and he single-handedly won that game. denard has put up more stats, but that henson year was better for a QB.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:06 PM ^
That was the worst defense of any of Carr's teams. In addition to getting shredded by NW and Purdue, we had to outscore Illinois, OSU, and Auburn. We didn't give up too many points that year despite all the yards we gave up, but that was largely because the offense moved the ball so well and didn't turn it over.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:24 PM ^
henson threw only 4 INTs that entire year (7 for his career); 3 of which came against PSU in 2000. he threw only 1 INT the other 8 games he played his senior year. that's taking care of the ball. he also averaged over NINE yds per attempt with 18 TDs. that's absurdly good.
...and remember, that was his junior year. i'm still mad about him leaving early, but he would have been foolish not to.
September 23rd, 2012 at 7:16 PM ^
Henson in 2000 was very, very good. There's no reason to downgrade what he did that year. If he hadn't missed the first 3.5 games with a foot injury, he would have been in the Heisman race.

September 23rd, 2012 at 8:37 AM ^
Um, Woodson and the rest of that defense was why UM won the title. Greise was fine, but he heard his fair share of carping throughout the season.

I was happy with both of these guys. Both were great game managers and decision makers and understood what they could and could not do.

you must have missed the bonehead griese play that cost the bowl game against alabama.
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:27 PM ^
enough the previous two ND games....how quickly we forget.
September 24th, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
I thought that Grbac, Collins, Griese, Brady, Navarre, and Henne were all outstanding college quarterbacks.
I think Denard is an amazing football player, and if he'd been fortunate enough to be in the right system consistently, he would have been more consistently effective.
As it stands, he's given me as much awe and amazement in watching football as anybody I've ever seen.
It's just darn hard to swallow a performance like Saturday from a senior qb. It does happen. People have bad days. All of the above qbs had bad games as a senior. It's just tough to have perspective after such a painful loss.

Wonder how PSU fans were dealing with the QB play of Micheal Robinson after winning them a BIG championship?? Dont think anyone was bitching bout him after that n we wont be bitching bout denard after he brings us one
September 23rd, 2012 at 3:12 AM ^
If you have ever played sports of any kind, you have had a bad day; Denard had one at a bad time. He's still the best skill position player since...when?, exactly? and he's still a great person off the field. He represents everything I love about Michigan.
Denard stood by Michigan when the easiest route was far from Ann Arbor, we should have the loyalty to do the same.
September 23rd, 2012 at 10:10 AM ^
he seems to have a lot more than one bad day. That bad day is like a Groundhog Day repeat everytime we play any good team.

I, too, am impressed by Denard's loyalty, and wonder how many others might have chosen to leave if Denard had left.
I also believe (I haven't heard this anywhere, just a gut feeling) that the coaches have been loyal in return in developing him as an NFL prospect at quarterback. They have used all of the nonconference games to do so, and I believe this will continue into the B1G season, but with a shorter leash, resorting sooner to utilizing his running skills if the passing game is a detriment.
