Decent Slate of Basketball Games Today

Submitted by True Blue 9 on November 19th, 2021 at 10:15 AM

For those still working from home during the pandemic or those having a lazy Friday night at home, be sure to turn on the TV as there are some decent college bball games on today:

St. Bonaventure vs. Clemson at 2:30 EST

Marquette vs. West Virginia at 7:00pm EST

Georgia vs. Georgia Tech at 9:00pm EST

Wichita State vs. Arizona at 10:00pm EST (we’ll play one of these teams this weekend in Vegas)

and of course Michigan vs. UNLV at an ungodly 12:30am EST from Vegas

Feast Week on the ESPN networks is easily one of my favorite sports weeks of the year. Enjoy the games! Go Blue!

That's an odd start time for Michigan. You'd think the tourney organizers would try to accommodate the lone team from the Eastern time zone and its fans. It would have been nice to have Michigan in the early game at 10 pm. I guess we could say that Michigan's next game is Saturday.

Anyone in the east planning on staying up to watch?

I’m in the Central Time Zone, and I’ll be up and watching. Since I pick up jobs randomly throughout the day, there’s a good chance I’ll be up by 6am and on the road on Saturday.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Michigan plays flat again tonight due to the late start-time and still learning to be cohesive, but I stuck by and watched some brutal beat downs during Beilein’s time (prompting fire Beilein threads) that kickstarted B1G tournament and NCAA runs. I just flat out love the culture of the basketball team. There’s no way that Brooks will let that culture fall apart this year, and JH will have this team cooking when it counts. Go blue!!!

ill be interested to see how the team responds - especially the freshman. Bufkin had a couple nice moments, but for the most part, the SH game looked like last year's team minus smith, brown, livers, and wagner, with minimal filling in adequately for any.

At a minimum, Houstan needs to be able to hit open shots - hopefully he can do more over time.

Diabate was a non-factor. he did have a couple nice blocks, but he can't be a liability on offense. I did like that he at least tried to take it to the hole a couple times.

I think Johns is what he is.. disappointing with a few random moments. He'd be a nice energy guy off the bench, but as a starter, he doesnt clean up on the other side with Hunter getting all the attention. He needs to be the Ojabo to Hunter's Hutchinson! He aint that.

Someone on the bench needs to step in and score. Terrence is our Marcus Smart, but unfortunately, he also shoots like him. Someone on the bench needs to give scoring. I hope Bufkin and Zeb can be those guys. This team plays great defense much of the time, but the offense is stagnant and they look confused and hesitant a lot.

I think we need to let Jones let it fly. Its not Smith with Livers/wagner... he was a scorer, so lets see it. i wasnt impressed with his handles - needing to body up across half court against SH... getting the ball swiped multiple times.. I think thats a function of not attacking. Let him run with it.

Definitely early in the season and 1230 start is a joke for any game, even on the west coast at 930. wtf. But if they come out with energy and anger, then i'll keep hopes up that we're a top 10 team, if they struggle, we're probably top 25 at best until things are "figured out".  HOpefully we dont drop any more games to okay or average teams.

I hope they look significantly different, yes... but i dont think its unrealistic, in this day and age, to expect top 25 recruits to be able to contribute heavily on day one. Sure, not all do, but its not unfair to expect it, especially when theyre tagged as one and done. Neither of the 2 in question, right now, appear to be in that category.

Houston and Moussa can contribute day one for sure. The issue is expecting it every single game. As we can see its not going to happen. They will get better Juwan is one of the best. Thank god for Eli. I hope Juwan recruits shooters first and foremost going forward. The one thing that made me feel good was someone reminding me that a championship game team at one time started Charles Matthews Zavier Simpson and Jon Teske. We can overcome some mediocre shooting.

The basketball game also overlaps with a UNLV football game at Allegiant (11:30 eastern 8:30 pacific kick).

A 12:30 am ET tip would make sense if UNLV football was kicking at say 9 eastern.  It would actually be a cool walkable doubleheader to attend.  But that doesn’t explain it either.

I suppose one can just consider this a bit like the Great Alaska Tournament back in the day.  Those games would always be fun to watch but they always tipped in the way after dark hours.

So do you stay up for the game or try and sleep for a little and then wake up for it? I have to work for a few hours early in the morning so I am thinking of going to bed early then trying to get up for like the second half or so but I don't know, might just sleep until work. I stayed up for the Seton Hall game and regretted it but I don't like missing them! Go Blue!!

So - it they were playing in Maui and it was an 12:30 ET that would make a little more sense. This is a ridiculous time. Nevertheless, I'm weirdly excited to watch. Good thing I'm in the central time zone.  I also love late night west coast baseball.
