October 2nd, 2021 at 9:25 PM ^
Yeah - he is playing like an All-American. It is fun having two elite game changers on the same defense.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:38 PM ^
Going to need more than 2.
2018 had Winovich, Gary, Bush, Long and L. Hill.
That's 5 first-team all-conference players, 2 first round draft picks, 1 all-american and defensive player of the year.
We're going to need more this year. Ojabo is starting to come into his own as a pass rusher. Colson looks to be the next great one. Mazi played well today.
It may be "by committee," but 2 won't cut it.
October 3rd, 2021 at 6:58 AM ^
This is what I don't get.
You all bitch nonstop about how this team is no good after a close win.
Some people provide perspective and you neg because you don't want to hear it.
Team performs well and you get waaay too unrealistic and overconfident, someone provides perspective and you neg because you don't want to hear it.
Some of you have the emotional range of a 12 year old. It's quite astonishing that you continue to do this to yourselves.
Just in the FIRST HALF of this last game people were talking about 5* curse and Dax being overrated, now he's elite.
If we win 35-31 next week, it's going to be able the defense.
...and Josh Ross is great, he's not elite. Stop that bullshit. Devin Bush was elite, he was defensive player of the year. Aidan Hutchinson is elite. Josh Ross is a great B1G linebacker, and even better leader, and key piece to this team.
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:43 AM ^
It is interesting how people go on an incoherent rant-accusing others of all sorts of things and, here, have the audacity to label others of having the "emotional range of a 12 year old". Your takes are so bad that I remember you from other threads doing the same thing this morning. Insecurity and personality disorders are a tough thing to overcome. But, good lord, our Michigan kids just played a hell of a game in historical fashion. Go look in the mirror...pull out your valium or xanax...and find some character. You can do it.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:51 PM ^
Talking a lot has nothing to do with an emotional range of a 12 year old.
Especially within the context that I used it.
...not even responding to the rest of your nonsense because you're "I know you are, but what am I?" rebuttal quite literally proved my point.
October 3rd, 2021 at 10:53 PM ^
And my post was absolutely coherant minus using "able" instead of "about."
So you're wrong there as well.
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:29 AM ^
I’m going with a final answer of TEN game changers and one jafo.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:50 PM ^
actually, THREE elite game-changers do not forget Ross!
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:31 AM ^
I feel like the TV broadcasts like Ross a lot more than the MGoBlog staff.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
Interesting, people were dogging him at the end of the 1st half.

? This blog has some serious zeroes
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
He made some mistakes and non plays in the first half, but stepped up in the second. He and Wilson to me were the big time players in the second half
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
cade, johnson and wilson all had great second halves. cade avoided at least 3 sure sacks today, including what i thought was a safety.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:55 PM ^
Mistakes? The quarterback made 2 perfect throws. Quit drinking and go to bed
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
Yea the first pass he was right there and Brad Hawkins just sat there and watched the WR cross right into his zone and didn’t even move. He could’ve played the TD a bit better though. Came back and played well in 2H.
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:31 AM ^
Found the jafo!
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:13 PM ^
I can’t get over that our former athletic director would have email exchanges with fans and tell them “Quit drinking and go to bed.” It was completely unprofessional - but at the same time, funny.

upvoted for using that line
October 3rd, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
Dax was nearly flawless in coverage on both the plays and was beat by 2 NFL throws right above his finger tips. Anyone who thinks he got "burned" or whatever there is an idiot
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:36 PM ^
Go re-watch his hit on the QB at normal speed. That was a brutal and a clean hit. Changed the entire game.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:43 PM ^
He was responsible for knocking the two most important WISC players out of the game, yeah? Mertz and Ferguson, both clean, aggressive hits!
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:37 PM ^
Stepped up big time in the second half!! I loved that hit and the pbu on that long 3rd down throw when it was still a game
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
he has stepped up big this year. and those two completions at the end of the half were not bad coverage. on the bomb hawkins blew the deep coverage but it's not like hill got burned. he was right there. and the TD was just a perfect pass and a good catch. if hill was 8 feet tall, he might have been able to knock it down.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
Just one more guy that will eventually be leaving Michigan to play on Sundays. He is not only athletically gifted but also clearly has a nose for the football. Just a real pleasure to have in a wolverine uniform.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:09 PM ^
He is a special talent. I hope he comes back for one more year though. He could leave this year but I think he still has a little bit to clean up. He comes back for one more year and I think hes a lock to be a top 10-15 pick.
October 3rd, 2021 at 3:12 AM ^
I'm seeing this pop up, and while it does make some sense, I would comfortably bet a lot of money that it doesn't happen. These days, it's just about getting to the NFL ASAP
October 3rd, 2021 at 7:35 AM ^
He gone.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
You’re not going to make every play, but Dax comes pretty close. Great second half performance after getting burned on a couple of perfect plays by the opponent in the first. We are lucky to have him.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
I think he took it personal that they attacked him twice on the drive at the end of the first half.
He came out in the 2nd half and immediately made a statement, and then dominated the rest of the way.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:16 PM ^
Yep, definitely felt like he wasn't gonna go out like that. Came back and did what great players do, change the complexion of the game.
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:26 AM ^
Which was very refreshing after years of BPONE inducing failures to respond in this way! It was nerve-wracking to see them attacking our best player with success, so it felt so very damn good when he responded the way he did.
Thankful to have Dax wearing the winged helmet.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
His hit on Mertz changed the entire course of the game. Completely clean hit, but it was brutal.
i’m glad Mertz is OK, but given how much Wisconsin‘s defense went head hunting against Peters and McCaffrey in 2017 and 2019, it’s hard for me to feel too bad.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:00 PM ^
Think back to the cheap shot that ended Grant Newsome’s career and you’ll recall there’s no reason to have any sympathy for the Badgers.
Then there’s the ass poundings they gave us the last couple games.
No Mercy for those fuckers!
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:24 PM ^
The McCafferey hit was brutal, and I think the kid was from River Rouge. The little DB that went after Newsome's knee should have been ground into pulp.
October 3rd, 2021 at 12:23 AM ^
Forgot about that one on Grant. It was indeed cheap as were some of the hits Brandon Peters and Dylan took. Hope Mertz will be ok.
Dax had a great second half, another good game, and is a terrific player.
October 3rd, 2021 at 9:51 AM ^
I know mine is not a popular thought here, but that hit on Newsome was clean - according to the rules of the game and the way players continue to play it. When confronting an OL in the open field, DB's always go low - they're taught to do so. He didn't lead with his helmet and had no ill-intent, he played it how he was taught. Fact is, Grant's foot was firmly planted and so the situation just sucked. Sometimes shit happens, and that was some shit that hit a great kid.
The hits on Dylan and Brandon were intended targets to the head. Fuck those guys.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
Opposing teams rightfully fear the Dax.
October 2nd, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
Dax is a combo guided missile and assassin. Love watching him play.
And God love him for choosing the good guys over Bama.
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:09 PM ^
Love Dax. Guy has serious skills and by all accounts is a heck of a young man
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:14 PM ^
He's Goonie Goo Good Gus!
October 2nd, 2021 at 10:41 PM ^
That hit on Mertz was clean, vicious, and beautiful. Shout out too to Clinkscale and Bellamy for coaching the hell out that secondary
October 2nd, 2021 at 11:58 PM ^
I have it on good authority that Scott Frost was really impressed with Daxton. Not only did he knock Mertz out (Mertz later went to the hospital iirc), but he also gave their TE Ferguson a nice love tap in the 2nd quarter. That speed and athleticism helps his tackling play up.
October 3rd, 2021 at 1:14 AM ^
Just imagine if we would've lost him to Bama. Whoever played a role in him sticking to his commitment needs their own appreciation thread (even if they've moved on).
