Dax Hill Appreciation Thread

Without him commanding our secondary this year I don't think we'd be near as at that unit

Going to need more than 2.

2018 had Winovich, Gary, Bush, Long and L. Hill.

That's 5 first-team all-conference players, 2 first round draft picks, 1 all-american and defensive player of the year.

We're going to need more this year. Ojabo is starting to come into his own as a pass rusher. Colson looks to be the next great one. Mazi played well today.

It may be "by committee," but 2 won't cut it.

This is what I don't get.

You all bitch nonstop about how this team is no good after a close win.

Some people provide perspective and you neg because you don't want to hear it.

Team performs well and you get waaay too unrealistic and overconfident, someone provides perspective and you neg because you don't want to hear it.

Some of you have the emotional range of a 12 year old. It's quite astonishing that you continue to do this to yourselves.

Just in the FIRST HALF of this last game people were talking about 5* curse and Dax being overrated, now he's elite.

If we win 35-31 next week, it's going to be able the defense.

...and Josh Ross is great, he's not elite. Stop that bullshit. Devin Bush was elite, he was defensive player of the year. Aidan Hutchinson is elite. Josh Ross is a great B1G linebacker, and even better leader, and key piece to this team.

It is interesting how people go on an incoherent rant-accusing others of all sorts of things and, here, have the audacity to label others of having the "emotional range of a 12 year old". Your takes are so bad that I remember you from other threads doing the same thing this morning. Insecurity and personality disorders are a tough thing to overcome. But, good lord, our Michigan kids just played a hell of a game in historical fashion. Go look in the mirror...pull out your valium or xanax...and find some character. You can do it.

he has stepped up big this year. and those two completions at the end of the half were not bad coverage. on the bomb hawkins blew the deep coverage but it's not like hill got burned. he was right there. and the TD was just a perfect pass and a good catch. if hill was 8 feet tall, he might have been able to knock it down.

Just one more guy that will eventually be leaving Michigan to play on Sundays. He is not only athletically gifted but also clearly has a nose for the football. Just a real pleasure to have in a wolverine uniform.

You’re not going to make every play, but Dax comes pretty close. Great second half performance after getting burned on a couple of perfect plays by the opponent in the first. We are lucky to have him.

I think he took it personal that they attacked him twice on the drive at the end of the first half.

He came out in the 2nd half and immediately made a statement, and then dominated the rest of the way.

His hit on Mertz changed the entire course of the game. Completely clean hit, but it was brutal.

i’m glad Mertz is OK, but given how much Wisconsin‘s defense went head hunting against Peters and McCaffrey in 2017 and 2019, it’s hard for me to feel too bad.

I know mine is not a popular thought here, but that hit on Newsome was clean - according to the rules of the game and the way players continue to play it.  When confronting an OL in the open field, DB's always go low - they're taught to do so.  He didn't lead with his helmet and had no ill-intent, he played it how he was taught.  Fact is, Grant's foot was firmly planted and so the situation just sucked.  Sometimes shit happens, and that was some shit that hit a great kid.

The hits on Dylan and Brandon were intended targets to the head.  Fuck those guys.

I have it on good authority that Scott Frost was really impressed with Daxton. Not only did he knock Mertz out (Mertz later went to the hospital iirc), but he also gave their TE Ferguson a nice love tap in the 2nd quarter. That speed and athleticism helps his tackling play up.

Just imagine if we would've lost him to Bama. Whoever played a role in him sticking to his commitment needs their own appreciation thread (even if they've moved on).
