What the fuck is there to discuss? Sever the damn ties. UM - "Dave Brandon has decided to step down as Athletic Director of the University of Michigan." Reporters - jaws drop UM - "Well that takes care of it...thanks for coming."

Unfortunately I'm still stuck at work, but when I'm out, lots of drinking will happen.. lots of drinking.. and I won't have DB to tell me to stop and go to bed!

Expect Brandon to show up in some capacity with the Dolphins. I have been told from someone who works with one of Brandon's close friends (and a former Michigan football player) that Ross offered him a job if he resigns. According to the friend, Brandon has been resistant because he wants to be at Michigan

Fuck im'

I am so happy that this douche will no longer be connected to UM....I honestly hope he is bitter and severs all ties to the U and never darkens a doorway on campus again.

As an AD he is (dare I say 'was'?) more than simply inept, he was categorically bad at his job at nearly every turn. He took cheap shots at the quick buck and proved himself willing to sell out any and all aspects of the traditions we all hold so dear in favor of short term monetary (and more than likely personal/political) gain. He had zero long term vision and probably still has little-to-no understanding of the lasting damage he has practiced upon the fan base that will require years to repair.

As a boss, he represents the worst kind of leader...he rules through fear and intimidation and threat of firing, not at all through any kind of substance, knowledge, intelligence, experience or insight.....and as a separate point....most certainly not through example.

As a person, quite simply....he typifies the word 'asshole'. Anyone arrogant enough to go around espousing a business theory based on 'if it is not broke, break it' that displays such an utter contempt for other people, directly in his email responses and through the condescension implicit in his public relations strategies (as if people are not smart enough to see through the smoke screens he attempted to lay down), is someone I am very glad not to know in person. Good luck ever becoming Governor now, thankfully for the State of Michigan that is a near impossibility now. Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

There is zero doubt in my mind that right now that he honestly thinks that he is the victim in all this....it will be interesting to see if he can keep his mouth shut during after this all goes down.

Hey Dave - it was broken.....and we fixed it.

If anyone ever needs evidence that we don't have our own over-the-top-psycho fans, bookmark this post.

Brandon deserved to be fired, but he isn't the person you describe, at all.  If this post isn't 99% rhetorical bullshit, it's kinda scary.

My parents went there, I went there, my brother and sister went there. I grew up going to games and still come back from California each year for one. I have experienced the game day difference with my own eyes and ears and have numerous friends that are/were season ticket hoders as further evidence of exactly how dissatisfied they all were.

My brother is connected to the university and knows two different people that work in the AD and it has been miserable since DB showed up, plain and simple.  Every part of that is first hand, verified information from people inside.

Every other part of that is public record...numerous condescending email responses....PR releases at 1 AM with misifinformation....a self-scheduled media tour where he makes himself out to the the victim of a political witch hunt....there isn't anything rhetorical about it. Just facts.

Exactly how do you know better? What part are you insinuating is wrong? FWIW, DB had the same reputation in his previous job.

An 'over the top, psycho' fan, as you describe, would have been on here posting about what I was hearing about inside the AD throughout the entire ordeal....look at my posting history....I did not. Not just because Brandon cooked his own goose and there was no need, but also because am exactly NOT the fan you described and I had no real way to offer verification, but suffice to say it was more than substantial enough for my own opinion to be formed.

So please, bookmark this post as one from a Michigan fan whose parents met there, whose lifelong dream was to go to M and then did, and who watched an AD turn game day (or try to anyway) into a farce of everything I hate about pro sports.

I'm hardly alone here.
