Dante Moore visiting Texas A&M in June

Submitted by Blue in Paradise on May 25th, 2022 at 4:49 PM

Not great news.  He is going to visit Texas A&M unofficially which means that they can still take an official visit during the season.

I think we all know what is going to happen when he gets to College Station.  He is about to get a "strong-a$$ offer".

I am not saying that Dante will simply pick the highest bidder - he may well be the type of kids that looks at the bigger picture / 40 year plan.  HOWEVER, imagine being a 16-17 year old kid getting and getting a 7 figure offer, that would be very tough for ANYONE to turn down.

@ Mods - please delete the "Diary Post".  That was posted in error.

“he may well be the type of kids that looks at the bigger picture”

Can we stop saying things like this?  Just because someone takes the money doesn’t mean they aren’t looking at the “bigger picture”.  In fact, taking the $1m and investing it into, say, an index fund would probably be the most optimal “big picture” move.

That wasn't my point.  If the ONLY thing that you look at is the $$$, it may or may not be the right decision but that is not the bigger picture.

The bigger picture is to look at which team offers you the best chance at development / NFL success, NIL opportunities once you are on campus, education, long-term benefits and connections post-career.

I am not saying that wouldn't be Texas A&M, just saying that taking the highest offer isn't necessarily looking at the big picture.

I live in Texas and hate A&M like every normal person should, but they are a perfectly fine school for both football and academics. It's not like Michigan is offering the best chance at development / NFL success with our recent QBs vs A&M's either, that may change in the future, but currently our only real recent success story is 44 years old.

Yeah, it's ridiculous to think he'd necessarily be sacrificing the "big picture" by taking a big offer now. Texas A&M has very good, professional coaching.  Fisher and staff coached Jamies Winston and many other good QBs.  The coaching at all these football factory schools is very good.  Fit matters for sure but let's not pretend Michigan is the best fit per se.

Seemed like one of the last big recruiting posts we had showed Moore at being a roughly ~50/50 shot to come here, but slowly trending toward ND.

Now if he's taking a look at A&M, I have to believe those odds are continuing to trend away from Michigan. I could be wrong, I'd love to be wrong, but A&M has very clearly shown they are ready to fire the money cannon as far as it can go to get the kids on campus that they need to win a national championship.

Eh, seems like weak tea to be reading those leaves one way or the other.  Those quotes could just as easily be interpreted as someone who doesn't want it taken for granted that of course he's going to enroll at the local U.  If he gave anything more than a lukewarm nod to UM, people would be all over it and the bandwagon would roll.  With the dozens of recruiting pundits all hungering to make their predictions, I think he's just trying to assert some control over his own recruitment; keep the crowd guessing until he's ready to announce on his own terms/timeline.

Enough with this dance. Move on from Moore and focus on Carr. I know his is a national recruitment as well but we have so many links to Carr and little other than current proximity to Moore.

That is incredibly short sighted. There is a ton of time left and Moore deserves to explore his options. I swear Ghostofjermaine said the other day that Moore is unofficially at Michigan frequently and that the staff feels good about that recruiting battle. Carr is another year out and we have more than enough resources to recruit to elite QBs.

Moore is clearly in it for the money, and Notre Dame has also clearly jumped 10000% on the NIL train and paying players.  Look at the class they are working on including a number of prospects we "were" in on.

Money talks, bullshit walks...and all UM is doing right now is bullshit.

The NIL announcement where they can FINALLY use the UM logos (so damned late) is hilarious.

Always the Bridesmaid, never the Bride especially when UM won't even propose.

He has probably gotten strong offers from every school he is visiting and if we get him you can almost guarantee he got a strong offer from us too.

Can you guys please chill the fuck out on Dante Moore. He's coming to Michigan. Id travel the country too if I had the opportunity. He's not going to A&M or Oregon. This is a Michigan/ND battle that Michigan will win in the end. R-E-L-A-X for the love of god. Let the kid do as he pleases without acting like the sky is falling every single time he announces hes going to visit a school other than UM.

Nope.

ND is shelling out money.

TX A&M will throw you money to keep you away from other programs if not to secure your services for themselves.

Michigan is busy preening in the mirror believing 1997 is still possible without playing the game.

If you have a valuable commodity to market, you best be getting out there and letting buyers know.  Dante appears to get that and whatever his decision matrix ends up being he's going to make a lot of money as a part of any deal.

all the oil connections at A&M he could easily get $1 mil a year to play there, go play in the NFL (maybe) and after all his playing days are done, get a job in the industry making more than I will ever see.
