It's just bananas that NDSU has won the national title 5 times in a row. And since it's FCS, it's not just them clinging to #1 all year, it's doing that plus winning the whole playoff.

Bananas.

If NDSU doesn't beat Iowa, I feel like they'll lose a close one.  They look like once they got going a bit on this drive that they can hold their own.  Be interesting to see how that game turns out.

Wouldn't be surprised if they beat iowa at all. Iowa plays very conservatively and Ndsu will pull out all stops to try and beat a ranked B1G team. Ferentz hasn't shown much ability to adjust mid game, they traditionally struggle in non conference, and also the years after their once per decade surprise teams after Ferentz solidifies another crazy extension.

Iowa was a good team but also a beneficiary of a mediocre divison and crossover games with indiana and maryland. They barely beat average Wisconsin, Minny, and Nebraska teams en route to getting lucky not to face OSU in the B1G Championship, losing to MSU instead. MSU and Iowa proceeded to each get throttled in their bowl games that each were very fortunate to be in. They won the games they needed to to get there, but neither team were the world beaters their records suggested. So, yes NDSU will give them a game. Iowa just doesn't blow anyone out, especially disciplined teams. Ferentz is as close you get to Carr, with less talent.. I'll just leave it at that when facing lower division champions as a ranked team.

Yep, go Bison! The town is jacked up tonight. Good test before they go down to Iowa City in a couple weeks. Don't count them out of that game either. The Hawkeyes offense better come to play.

Ndsu vs. Iowa is like us vs. App State in 2007. The Bison are a very good program. I don't get why you schedule them over like Delaware State if you're going to play an fcs team.

Speaking of the horror... any other '07 grads who didn't realize going to 3 rose bowls in 4 years wouldnt always be normal? Appy State was the first home game I watched via telly as a grad and it was all downhill from there until now. I must be the good luck charm? Pretty sure we need to start an mgofundme to send me to every michigan game from here on out.

Wow, great run by CSU for the game's first TD!  Also, NDSU with the bone-headed move to not do the onside kick when kicking from the 50.  How coaches don't get that the ~10 yards of field position you're gambling is totally worth a chance at awesome field position is beyond me.

Not sure why we have to have spoiler thread titles for something so inconsequential in the era of the DVR. Just put up the open thread and those of us that plan on watching the game later can still jump on the site.

Yes, me. I'm football and betting deprived. Put a little action on it before taking the kids to Disney for the evening. Now I'm home, cracked a beer, and started watching while browsing mgoblog.
To be honest, I don't really care about this particular game, but really don't like spoilers in titles. They serve no purpose, and I'd rather get ahead of it now before some decent games are ruined down the road.

Dude. This is a sports blog that you are checking on while trying to put off the games until later. You expect no one to post anything in the thread titles about games. If MSU loses to Furman, I bet someone would post a thread about it giving it away for you. Furthermore, if you check facebook and like espn or detroit news etc. scores are going to be on your newsfeed.

Just tuning in! Meaningful football!!! I love it. Didn't get to watch last night's game so, this is my official first viewing of real football for the 2016 season.

Nice pick.

I'm also surprisingly cool with listening to Mack Brown do color commentary.
