Countdown to Kickoff Day 7
One more week!!
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:56 AM ^
That was my era when I really became a Michigan fan in my youth. Loved the Leach teams - especially beating OSU 1976-78.
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:13 PM ^
the beat down of Joe Montana when Michigan traveled to ND to inaugurate the modern series between the two teams. It would be a fitting conclusion for Michigan to bookend the series with another win in South Bend.

I also have this cover, but....mine is autographed by Rick Leach (maybe not so obvious)!

Thoughts on where Ty would be on the RB depth chart if he became eligible before the App State game?
I imagine that he is taking very few reps at this time.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:19 AM ^
Those are my thoughts. This is a kid's life here. Make a decsion one way or the other so he can focus on what his situation is. Its one week until gameday.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:30 AM ^
I have been the thinking the same thing for weeks now. It's really unfair to him and the team
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:32 AM ^
Honestly, what new information could they be waiting for that they didn't have a few weeks ago. They have all the facts they need to decide.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:39 AM ^
We dont fully know when all the paperwork even got to the NCAA. A couple of weeks after he announced he was transferring, Michigan still said it was going through he filing process as there was alot of medical data and reports that needed to be filed in order to document his mother's condition.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:43 AM ^
it's a kid's eligibility we're talking about. We're not applying for sainthood. . . .
August 23rd, 2014 at 10:54 AM ^
Although this falls under the "Circumstances Beyond Control" section of the waiver criteria in the NCAA Division I Handbook, you have to provide sufficient medical documentation even if it is an immediate family member's illness or condition which prompted the transfer. It's quite trifling and unnecessary - I definitely agree with the sentiment here - but that's the rule unfortunately.
Even if it were not medical, like a financial calamity in the family, they would still demand appropriate documentation such, if it came to that, a copy of the bankruptcy filing and other supporting records.
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:50 PM ^
Seems highly unlikely he'll get the waiver, and Hoke seems to be acting accordingly. The kid is well beyond the waiver requirements.
August 25th, 2014 at 5:50 AM ^
to a certain extent. But I guess my thoughts that information of some things like a little more than a doctor's note should be sufficient. When I read "medicll data and reports" the post seemed like the NCAA required reems of data. . .Like how we get put on probation for not appropriately filing Cara forms for stretching too long. IMHO Ty Isaac is trying to transfer and he has a legit excuse. . . As opposed to the endless litany fo nefarious endeavors committed on a daily basis at other programs that aren't adequately policed by the same institution. . .to wit, granting a waiver and insisting on making it complicated is what the NCAA chooses to care about. . .
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:36 AM ^
Hoke should just play him. Honestly, what's the NCAA going to do? Wait six years and then take a couple scholarships away? What an inept and pathetic organization.
August 23rd, 2014 at 10:52 AM ^
Well it could jeopardize our 2014 National championship, so probably best to play by the books.
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:15 AM ^
Eh, it would take them a decade to strip it, if the NCAA even exists anymore/Michigan is even a part of it. Not like they're going to come confiscate all of our National Champs tshirts or delete all the championship youtube videos.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:53 AM ^
Granted, the amount of tape I've seen on him is small, but based on what I've seen he'd be #1. He seems to have the best combination of skills the staff wants. He's a big guy and can run with power, but he's also deceptively fast. He can block and catch the ball out of the backfield. He's not a highlight real type guy, but he seems very good with picking holes and his vision and he looks very smooth when he runs. I think he's our best back.
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:15 PM ^
Need to get some class separation.
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:16 AM ^
seeing Desmond Howard on College Gameday. Then watching the boys run out of the tunnel. Go Blue!!!!!
August 23rd, 2014 at 9:55 AM ^
Did you see he picked UM #6 this year? Everyone gave him crap last year when he said UM would beat OSU. Granted, he was wrong, but his score was a heck of a lot closer than most who thought OSU would win by 14.
August 23rd, 2014 at 10:37 AM ^
sometimes but he was my hero as a kid so I love him anyway
August 23rd, 2014 at 10:31 AM ^
I played flag football with Drake in middle school, and even then he had a spin move that dropped the opposing coaches' jaws. I'd be happy to see an A2 kid get some playing time at RB, although to be perfectly honest I still think our other options are better.
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
I am impressed with Drake. He is a well spoken young man and a good representative of the university. I hope he is successful both on and off the field.
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:26 AM ^
sharp in his interview. He looks good in his clips. He's a strong runner and is shifty with speed. I think Justice looks good too. We have some great depth at RB. I would not mind seeing Ty RS for the future.
I'm so fired up form this team. I really think Michigan Football is going to surprise the doubters.
August 23rd, 2014 at 7:49 PM ^
Brian mentioned in the podcast that Drake doesn't have much shake and is more of a straight line speed guy
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:05 PM ^
He reminds me of Dhani Jones.
That's a very good thing to be reminded of.
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:12 AM ^
Guys, do you realize in exactly one week and 48 minutes (at the time I'm typing this) we're going to be watching MICHIGAN FOOTBALL!!!!!??!!!??!!!!
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:15 AM ^
RBs and Co. have been talking a lot about the work they have done. I just hope it shows up on Saturday.
August 23rd, 2014 at 11:36 AM ^
I know this question has probably been answered, but will drake get a medical RS for last season?
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:13 PM ^
We'll find out his senior year
/Boom, Gardner'd
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:06 PM ^
Time to do it again.
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:21 PM ^
thats funny
August 23rd, 2014 at 12:49 PM ^
...get one of those polos?
/s
August 24th, 2014 at 12:04 AM ^
You need to earn it, by wearing this polo for a week...
August 23rd, 2014 at 2:47 PM ^
Glad Drake discovered those sciency things.
August 23rd, 2014 at 8:57 PM ^
One time this season I would like to see Drake get a crease and show the type of breakaway speed he has.
