Congrats to Obi Ezeh
After all the criticism that he's dealt with over the last year, I was really excited to see Obi out there giving it his all. I thought he played a strong game today, he was in on a lot of tackles and never quit on plays. And he was rewarded with that huge fumble recovery to prevent the UConn score. Good for him. Go Blue, stomp all over ND next week!

Leading tackler today, good game Obi

I don't get it. I hardly saw Mundros on the field? All the hype about him being the starting MLB and ESPN also listed him as the official MLB (which comes from the UM depth chart). Do you think this was merely for motivation?
I still think Obi needs to play better on a consistent basis. Next week's opponent will force our LBs to make more plays.
Also, did Will Campbell get any snaps today?

He played well, but he definitely still missed some reads and some tackles.

I also thought he played pretty well. It will be interesting to see how he grades out in the UFR.

Obi Ezeh,Showed he had alot of Heart today.

I thought he played pretty well, too. Hopefully he can keep it up. I like Moundros, but I'd rather see him on offense. What little I've seen from McColgan has not been extremely impressive...

McColgan got chewed out by RR after he wiffed on a lead block.

I don't know if anyone else saw this, but after T. Robinson had that 48 yard catch, they put it under Mouton's name.

I didn't notice him too often watching the game live, but he seemed to be around the ball quite a bit. He totally flopped on UConn's touchdown run, though. There were two gaps to fill and he chose what was behind door number two--nothing!
We need a good season from you Obi!

I couldn't be happier with today's performance. Just what we needed to cleanse some bad memories.

Hmmmmm. I kept my eye on him today and don't have quite as glowing a review of his performance. I'll hold my comments and wait for the UFR.

Congrats to Obi, but JT Floyd got the ball out with the big hit on that fumble play.
September 4th, 2010 at 10:17 PM ^
JT looks like a solid tackler. He made a lot of plays.
September 4th, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
Obi filled the gap taking on 2 blockers allowing Floyd a clear lane to the ball carrier. Excellent play by the both of them.

I hope Floyd keeps his head up to hit from now on - he could have broken his neck with how he led with his helmet!

I'm sorry fellas, but I watched the game over and over, and although Obi's tackling numbers looked good, he did not play a good game. Obi ran from blockers and took bad angles at ball carriers. Playing LB you're bound to have good numbers, but the way you get those numbers makes all the difference. Obi needs to step his game up or get replaced.

...joining so soon to impress with this analysis...
Playing LB you're bound to have good numbers
Seriously newb, just read the god damn linebacker preview and see the idiocy of that statement...

Whatever moron. I know football and if anybody thought Obi played an outstanding game then they are just as clueless as you are. YOUR MIDDLE LINEBACKER IS SUPPOSE TO LEAD YOUR TEAM IN TACKLES!!! If Obi had 15 tackles, but really SHOULD have had 25, did he have a good game?? LB are suppose to take on fullbacks and O-linemen, not try to run around them and let the RB run through the hole they just vacated. Get your head out your butt, shut your mouth and study the freakin tape!!!

I think Brian needs to hire this guy to help him w/ the UFR's. He really seems to know his shit.

Is that, for once, our LB's looked like LB's. They came through the line and got hits in the backfield, they were aggressive and they hit their gaps.

I thought he still looked pretty questionable in pass coverage last week but against the run, he did suitable IMO. I'm no expert though, I'll wait and see what UFR has to say.
