Commit Watch Annnouncement Timeline

Submitted by alum96 on

Feel free to add a comment if you have any info on the guys without a clear time/date.  Here is the schedule as best as I can tell.  NSD is Wednesday.

RB Weber TBD if any UM/OSU 2 ballz to UM since 1/29
WR Jefferson TBD if any UM 8 ballz to UM since 1/28
RB Higdon TBD if any IA visited Sunday
FB Oliver TBD if any CMU/UM if other commits fall thru?

CB Bush - ? not sure if really in play
  • Not sure when Arnette will announce but most think he is now going to Columbus anyhow.
  • Burnett ...I am lost on at this point.
  • Not a subscriber to Scout and maybe Webb said something different this morning on radio but his tweets seem to indicate some progress was made with Jefferson but Adams was pretty much the same as when he got here - and he came here as a Rutgers commit.
  • HIgdon was here yesterday but have not read an update from his HS coach.
  • Oliver sounds like a guy you offer at FB if we can't fill the remaining 6 slots with your main targets.
  • Bush doesn't seem like a real candidate but just throwing  him out there.
  • There is also a punter apparently in play as a 5th year transfer but not sure if he will require a scholarship or not.

Please keep in mind this caveat with targets who already commited elsewhere when it comes to crystal ballz:  apparently if you are wrong on your original prediction you cannot change your pick after the fact to the school said player commited to.  Hence there is zero risk involved with changing the crystal ball pick (if they were wrong originally) to a new school.  So take crystal ballz predictions from committed targets with even more salt than normal.

Yeah, I think I would take what Harbaugh can do with a bunch of low-mid ranked 3* guys (see Stanford) over what Hoke was able to do with his 4* and 5* guys. Definitely an upgrade in the coaching department. It is a small class, so it's not a big deal right now. But I expect a lot of talent to come in once Harbaugh has a full recruiting cycle. Really our only needs are getting a CB. I'm not too worried about Safety help right now with Peppers moving and Cole's ability to play the position (I don't see him as a CB). I would like a body at RB due to the fact that after 2016 all we will have is Ty Isaac, assuming he doesn't end up leaving for the NFL. But Safety and RB are both spots I'm comfortable filling next year if we have to.

Either the staff has been slow playing some of these guys in hopes of landing the higher ranked guys or we are just staight losing guys to places like Rutgers, WSU and Syracuse.  I really hope our fortunes change the next couple days.

I think some of you guys need to accept that you are going to see some classes filled with more three stars and that isn't a bad thing. Harbaugh's personality isn't going to mesh with some of the 5 star diva types. He will get the guys that will respond to his way of coaching. It may result in lower ranked 'crootin classes, but the on the field product will be much better.

I think we will end up with 15 recruits and we get a couple of the big names we're after.

Also...

Shurburtt tweeted:

I think is going to end up with a pretty solid group this cycle. Hang tight.

Marshall picks Michigan. The last time I used my SWAG analysis on a recruit it was for a SoCal 5* corner and that worked out for the good guys. You're welcome in advance.

Who is that speedy white in-state 3-star WR who was running cirlces around every corner except Peppers in that camp video over the summer? I think he's a CMU commit. The staff might want to give his film a look.

Edit: the guy I was thinking of was Corey Lacanaria, and he was a Ball State commit in the 2014 class. There are multiple mentions of him here: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/rising-stars-highlightsjabrill-damon-webb-f…

The timing of Damon Arnette's tweet this morning "God may not be there when you want him, but he is always on time..." - falls right in line with Jay H.'s tweet of overhearing an amazing phone call...hopefully there is a connection.
