I can only assume that, even though Clemson deferred on the kick, Georgia Tech did not want to appear rude, for it is really a home game in essence for them despite the change in venue, and decided to let Clemson have it first all the same.

Clemson's defense is tough, no doubt. It'll be interesting to see if their o-line play has improved. They struggled against some pretty mediocre teams last year.

Go Clemson Tigers! My second favorite team, I live in SC and my daughter is a biology senior there. Will see if they've got the offense straightened out but I expect that defense to be pretty stout this year.

CU has a fantastic D - maybe a guy or two better than UM.

I just don’t believe their O is top tier. OL issues the last few years, versatile but limited RB, very solid WRs, and DJ at QB.  Cabe at QB might make them nearly elite.  Does that sound familiar?

Me.  That was a little too generous on behalf of the polsters.  As was Notre Dame being #5.

Although, I still still suspect ND’s ranking was more about adding that extra hype to their game with OSU.  If they opened the season against Purdue, they wouldn’t have been #5.

Clemson being #4 is more about the polsters wanting to sexually service Dabo, since he’s considered just a notch under Nick Saban.

The one thing I would say is Clemson was having a good drive and then had that fumble. They haven’t been great for sure but the turnover took away points for them. Still GT is putting up more of a fight then you’d think they should.

Either GT is thru with their transition from the triple option and theyre decent…or more likely Clemsons offense is still kinda doodoo and theyre pretty overrated again

Preseason rankings are a joke.

I say it every year, they shouldn't come out until after week 3.

But since they're going to be updated tomorrow...I've seen all I need from Clemson. Just like that FSU/LSU game, those were two average teams in a really good game. It's EARLY, but Clemson looks like they have an great D and an average offense. ND looks the same. Anyway...

  1. Alabama
  2. Georgia (then *gap*)
  3. Ohio St.
  4. Michigan (then *gap*)
  5. Texas A&M
  6. Oklahoma
  7. Baylor
  8. USC
  9. Miami
  10. Florida
  11. Utah (then *gap)
  12. Pitt
  13. Texas
  14. Tennessee
  15. Clemson (assuming they win tonight)
  16. Penn St.
  17. Notre Dame
  18. Wisconsin
  19. Michigan St.
  20. Oklahoma St.
  21. Ole Miss
  22. Oregon
  23. Florida St.
  24. Kentucky
  25. Minnesota / NC St. (tie)

I get we hate OSU...but there is no way you can put them below Texas A&M.

If you knock OSU for struggling (which is 100% fair), no argument for Michigan #3. I give them some credit because they beat a top 20 team, but they didn't look great.

However, if Michigan beat Colorado St. the way Texas A&M beat a FCS school...Cade would be the #3 QB going into the next game.

Texas A&M slept walked through that game.

Miami played Bethune-Cookman, but took care of business.

Personally, I think Miami, Florida, Texas, and USC are "back" (not elite...but 10-2 level NY6 contenders)...I think LSU and FSU was a game of two frauds.

As I've mentioned, Clemson and ND seem like 9-3 teams like PSU and Wisconsin (or vintage Iowa, not this Iowa). In that kind of mold.

Random thought...let's say there is a hap after Michigan and OSU.

Is there ANY realistic scenario in which it's Bama, UGA, Michigan, OSU in the CFP?  College Football would implode if that were to ever happen.

I'm assuming you think that's too high...

Clemson is not a top 10 team, but they're not "ass" either. That defense looks good.

Teams in that range are typically solid on one side of the ball and have a glaring hole.

ND went into the Shoe at night and held their own for 3 quarters. That D is legit. But that offense looks to be, very "meh."

All of those teams in that range look like 9-3 type teams.
