class action lawsuit viability (Milk!)

Submitted by jdon on

As a michigan resident I am eligible to submit a claim at BoughtMilk.com and am thinking about fileing.

It seems legit: I am wondering if any one else resides in Michigan, or the 14 other states involved, intends to submit a claim.

Also, you may insert all of your Harbaugh deserves double pay for his whole milk comments!

Love,

jdon

It appears to be legit. The stipulation is that it is only valid in certain states. Specifically : Arizona, California, the District of Columbia, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin. So... what will you be buying with YOUR milk money?

Context is totally overrated I guess?

Here's a short summary from a local fox website (Link)

Michigan is one of fifteen states named in the suit, which was filed against milk producers. The $52 million settlement comes after accusations that companies slaughtered more than 500,000 cows to reduce the milk supply and inflate prices; allegations those producers still deny.

The case is:

Matthew Edwards v. National Milk Producers Federation

United States District Court, Northern District of California

Case No. 11-cv-04766-JSW

Enjoy your $10-$20.

This is a legit thing, I already submitted my paperwork, and the person who posted this is a total dick, as the amount of the individual pay-outs are determined by the number of claimants. Just shut up about it, douche nozzle! ;-)

Hard to find though, wish more than one producer made A2. How can only one company have the ability to produce milk without the A1 genetic variation?

Many peole who think they have lactose intolerence actually have an A1 intolerance.

The Australian company that makes A2 ostensibly owns a patent on the genetic test used to determine which cows have the A1 mutation, although I've heard it's either unlikely to hold up in US court or would be easy to circumvent. One other way you can get milk that's less likely to have A1 is to buy from (usually small) dairies that have cattle breeds other than Holstien. The rates of A1 mutation in, for example, Jersey and Guernsey cattle are much lower.

learn what it is and why they should be drinking it, only then will the Holstein tyranny end. They're massive milk producers so there is no incentive for farmers to move to lower output Guernsey cows, only if people stop drinking it will the farms get away from Holsteins.

Ughhh. Since this made the news, the amount everyone is entitled to has dropped drastically. Why have you all forsaken me!?

Guess they should have just donated milk and cows to some charity for starving people abroad. They could have picked up a tax break and avoided a lawsuit, and looked like a caring company in the process.

You know who really needs a class-action suit? People who buy french fries at the drive-thru. I think the last time I got a full carton of fries at the drive-thru was 1985, and that's only because Burger Chef hadn't gone out of business yet.

We signed up for this one a while back like others. As someone said, I think the deadline is the end of this month. I was also part of the one Mad Hatter talked about which revolved around having personal information sold to 3rd parties, and I think I got maybe $65-$70 out of that one. The only other one I joined that comes to mind is the TicketMaster one, and we did get free ticket vouchers - albeit to shitty concerts and out-of-state ones at that.
