Citrus Bowl eyeing Michigan-Alabama

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on December 4th, 2019 at 11:30 AM

This is starting to unfortunately catch on. Really hope this does not happen.

Also just heard now on WTKA that Brett McMurphy said the Citrus Bowl really wants Michigan. Zach Shaw said his 247 people are hearing Citrus Bowl rumblings too.

Let's fucking do it and be legends. How "up" for that game is fucking Alabama going to get? Half their starters will sit, Tua is out anyways, and their defense is not special to begin with.

If we don't have too many people sit out, I honestly think that would be a fun game, and who cares if we lose? It's the Citrus Bowl, and it's Alabama.

Let's just play a team that ours can get excited about.  And if we lose, so what,... we still have a better anthropology and b-school, and every other academic department known to man.  After all, this is "collegiate" athletics, not pro, and failure to recognize it for that can lead to misery.

Tallahassee!  I’m new here (just moved here in August).  I need some food recommendations...found really good bbq out on 90 called the Red Shed (brisket available on Saturday and Sunday only) and we really like Backwoods Crossing (also on 90).  Any good Chinese around here?  Any other under the radar, non-chain type places we should know about?

Quite a lot of decent food around nowadays--you might want to join the Tallahassee Foodies Facebook page for people's evals. If you like South Indian, Mayuri is as good as I ate in South India. Also, you might want to join Red Hills Online, a 50-farm CSA that has won a lot of national awards. Everything from grassfed and free-range meats to local cheeses, baked good, and many exotic and local fruits and vegetables. I helped start the Frenchtown farmers market, but have been away for almost a year; not sure how that's faring, but there are three or four others. Lots of good food truck action nowadays, too; try Gaines Street Pies in Collegetown for pizza.

Not Chinese, but when I lived there I always thought Reangthai on Capital Circle was a pretty decent Thai place. The two owners are really sweet people and they have great food. Not sure if it's still there as I haven't lived there for awhile, but it had been there for like fifteen years so I would assume it still is.

It's just a terrible matchup because we won't be able to stop the run.

Every guy on the Bama line out-weights our biggest guy by 30 to 80 pounds, and were 5* recruits, and have been playing in the same system for years.

If you can't stop the run, you are gonna get rolled. Not fun to watch. Do not want.

Getting older I forget things more easily, but I remember too well the last couple season ending on real sour notes with two or more losses.  Are we really up for that again?  Apathy is a really bad place for a fanbase to be, seems like we're getting there.

I will say though, it would be easier to take losing to Bama than a team like South Carolina.

Well maybe getting paved by a gigantic ass OL for the third time in a season will teach us to recruit some fucking size on the DL like we should have been doing all along.

Say we beat OSU next year and go to the playoffs.  Alabama's big ass OL is still going to be there.

If we have to endure another ass kicking to show our coaches that they need to do A LOT better recruiting, so be it.

Monday morning in the car heard Andy Mignery describing what he saw when OSU was on the field.  When he got to the "curvature of the backside" I almost ran a red light from laughing.  yes Andy those are some bigass players!

While Bama isn't invincible, if they are 3 deep in 5 stars it could present the same problem of Bigger, faster, stronger.  Could be problem.

They wouldn't be able to cover Nico any more than other teams could, and at least B1G refs wouldn't be there?  OSU was allowed to pull Nico's arm.

Count me in. We've already played the best team in the country so it can't get worse.

Alabama will be going to be tough, but its a good opportunity for the team to test themselves against an elite team that's not OSU and motivation to spend the bowl practices getting better (versus whatever we did last year).

We'll struggle against to stop the run against oline for sure, but i dont think they'll be able to throw downfield as easily as Fields was without Tua.

Personally, I'd rather see us play Bama tough and lose in a marquee matchup than pound a tomato can in a game no one cares about.

Dr. Toboggan is quoting Billy McFarland of "Fyre Festival" fame ("fuck it, let's do it and be legends.")

That endeavor didn't end well. Getting your face punched in on a national stage while you're missing key players (Bama has the depth to miss some starters, we don't) is not good for the program.

Holiday vs. USC is the best option.

I guess I'll agree to disagree then.   If we had a pretty nice bowl record in the last couple of decades, particular in recent years, I'd say I suppose it's not a big deal then to lose a Citrus Bowl.  But we haven't had that.

I personally believe bowl games can do a lot for a program from a momentum standpoint when a team performs well in them and can come out victorious.  If we lose this years bowl game, that will be a 1-4 bowl record for JH at Michigan and just another ugly stat the media points to... I guess we shouldn't care what pundits think, but at point do recruits start caring?
