Talented player, but a whole herd of dudes in front of him
Best of luck and I'm confident he'll succeed wherever he goes
December 19th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Best of luck to the guy. Hope he finds a fit and can get some PT.
I don’t know if I would call him “talented”. He is 4th string at a school that hasn’t sent a RB to the NFL is a long long time.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:13 PM ^
If the program is as bad as you (so clearly) think it is, you probably don't need to resort to logical fallacies to make your point.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
Just call it like I see it. Tons of people were claiming Turner was gonna be an All B10 RB after a couple decent runs in 1-2 games.
I hope he finds an awesome place to make an impact, but if Turner is as “talented” as many believe, it just points to Harbaugh’s inability to utilize quality RB’s.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
so, either he's not that good, or harbaugh sucks. got it.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:40 PM ^
He’s definitely talented. Struggled with holding on to the ball a bit. Don’t be a douche
December 19th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
And I would say “don’t be delusional”.
Again, I wish him all the best. Truly. I hope he finds an awesome landing spot and gets some quality PT and enjoys the heck out of himself. Truly.
I’m simply saying that to call him “talented” just isn’t true. If by what you mean as “talented” is that he is good enough to be a college football player...then you are correct. If by what you mean by “talented” is that he is clearly an above average power 5 RB...then that is simply not true.
You might not like the evaluation, because it hurts your feelings, but the fact is Christian Turner is currently the 4th string RB on arguably the worst team in the B10. That is the reality of today.
December 19th, 2020 at 6:28 PM ^
Lots of players are talented but to become effective at whatever level they’re playing at requires improving at the things you struggle with. Good coaching helps take a “talented” player to the next level. To say that he doesn’t have talent simply because he couldn’t crack the rotation is asinine. I’m not sure anyone should really trust YOUR evaluation but since it’s the internet everyone can spout their opinion. Thus, I’ll agree with your final sentence...the reality of today
December 19th, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
It’s not my opinion that he is the 4th string RB in what is arguably the worst team in the B10. It is asinine to believe that isn’t a statement on his talent, and what the coaches believe his talent is.
Would anyone believe that a Junior who is a 4th string RB at Georgia Tech, Boston College or Oregon State was talented / you would hope to get such a player in the transfer portal?
December 19th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
Whinier than Maizen...
December 19th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
Whining? How so? Tell me where I am wrong.
December 19th, 2020 at 7:03 PM ^
You’re not entirely wrong. You’re just an asshole. Wish the kid good luck and then shut the fuck up.
He looked good in his limited carries.
December 19th, 2020 at 7:34 PM ^
“Your wrong!!!” and then gives zero reason as to why I am wrong...then has to curse at me to feel better. LOL.
December 19th, 2020 at 8:03 PM ^
He contributed for 2 years and then was going to opt out because of Covid. He opted back in and Harbaugh buried him on the depth chart. Harbaugh values toughness and milk and steak over common sense. (Why are we one of the only teams that refuses to fair catch a kickoff? It’s his anachronistic attachment to “toughness.”) Dylan McCaffery knows what I am talking about.
You are simply wrong to say he is not talented. He may not be as talented as you’d like, but that’s just arguing semantics. Take the “L” and quit being such a douchebag.
December 20th, 2020 at 9:26 PM ^
OR, maybe we don't fair catch kickoffs because we think we've got a really good kick returner. which we do.
but hey - literally everything that happens on the field is just further evidence of FIRE HARBUGH11!1!11!
December 19th, 2020 at 3:48 PM ^
Seemed like he had a shot. But of course we cycle in 5 RB’s for 2 plays at a time so none of our RB’s are ever “good” by really any statistical standard.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:54 PM ^
*Player clearly not as good as 4 RB options in front of him on the depth chart looks to transfer
-Harbaugh’s RB rotation is awful
Anything to bitch and complain I guess.
December 19th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
The 3 fumbles (1 lost) in a handful of carries to start last year certainly didn't help, but apparently in Harbaugh and his irrational "my RBs can't fumble the ball" approach is just another example of why he needs to be removed as HC.
December 21st, 2020 at 8:25 AM ^
holy shit.
just so we're clear - a coach not playing someone with fumble issues, when he has a very full roster of running backs is...yes, i'm reading this right..."another example of why he needs to be removed."
please. for the love of all things holy, find another team, you lunatic.
December 19th, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
You must not remember this kid's back-breaking fumbles nearly every game he played last year.
He definitely earned a fair shake at UM and probably gave it his all. He just could not hold onto the ball.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:50 PM ^
He seems like a pretty talented dude, but I also seem to remember he had a case of fumbleitis in the first few games of 2019, and I don’t think he played too much after that. Good luck to him!
December 19th, 2020 at 3:50 PM ^
I think there will be quite a few more this week. Makes sense to do it now and try to get in for the next semester.
December 19th, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
I am interested to see what Chris Evans will do. Should have an extra year by the letter of the law. He's one of Harbaughs guys but there doesn't seem to be a consistent role for him. He's a capable player but there definitely isn't enough recent tape to get drafted. Does he stay local and play at EMU and then take a shot at training camp in 2022 or does he try to ascend the Ann Arbor area HS coaching ranks?
December 19th, 2020 at 5:50 PM ^
He's signed up for the Shrine Game, so he's at least giving a shot at the NFL.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:51 PM ^
I forgot he was even on the team.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:51 PM ^
That bowl game run against Florida that got called back basically defines his career at Michigan. I hope he explodes into an all conference and nfl player.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:52 PM ^
Man, I was at that game and I remember being so pumped when he took off!! Then...?????? for the rest of the game.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:52 PM ^
I thought he was in the portal last season?
December 19th, 2020 at 3:54 PM ^
I think it would be funny if a player's "thing" was to put his name in the Portal every year but never leave.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:52 PM ^
The problem with that is that once you put your name in the portal your scholarship is not guaranteed.
December 19th, 2020 at 5:26 PM ^
The problem with that is that once you put your name in the portal your scholarship is not guaranteed.
December 19th, 2020 at 6:44 PM ^
Crap, my first dreaded double post.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:53 PM ^
Can't blame him at all. Being 6th on the depth chart it would be hard to get playing time in the Northern Illinois game.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:54 PM ^
Good luck.
It's bizarre. Now football players are changing schools as often as other students.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:07 PM ^
You should see high school football in Texas: 2-3 high schools is becoming the norm
December 19th, 2020 at 4:53 PM ^
For realz? I was joking about normal college student practice. But high school? Wow.
December 19th, 2020 at 3:55 PM ^
December 19th, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
That one inch out of bounds against Florida and fumbling issues is how he got lost on the depth chart. He also originally opted out of the season, but came back.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Understandable, good luck to him. He's already been passed by Corum as a true freshman and there's an even higher ranked true freshman coming in next year. Makes sense.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:14 PM ^
We'll always have that one really nice call in the FSU game.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
What a weird career. He had a couple exciting runs, fumbled, and literally never heard from again.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:18 PM ^
Was wondering if this was the RB rumored to be on the way out.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:18 PM ^
Need the room for the late signing period.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
Fingers crossed.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
Not unexpected, but darn.
Best of luck to him.
December 19th, 2020 at 4:53 PM ^
We are sooooo overdue for a RB to breakout
December 19th, 2020 at 5:42 PM ^
I think he is going to put up numbers in a crappier conference. He is explosive. But fumbles and injuries always seem to cost him his shot.
December 19th, 2020 at 7:55 PM ^
He fumbled his way into the doghouse last Fall, and never really got a chance to get out of it. Whether he kept fumbling in practice, or just couldn't ever get a chance to show he fixed the problem, we'll never know. But we do know that once someone gets into Harbaugh's doghouse, he never gets out - unless Harbaugh likes the guy. In which case, he never really gets into the doghouse, anyway...
December 19th, 2020 at 7:36 PM ^
Now our coaching staff has an opportunity to recruit an upgrade.
December 19th, 2020 at 11:49 PM ^
How many players from the state of Georgia have transferred out the past couple years? 80%?
