Chris Clark to take 2 Officials (?)

Submitted by alum96 on

Not to rain on the snowflakes but Clark tweeted (strangely late in the game) he was taking 2 more officials but remains firmly committed to UM.  With his history ... and Hoke's policy... not sure what it means.

Note - he has since erased the 2 tweets where he said he was going to take 2 officials and separately that he remained commited to UM.

EDIT - Kyle Bogenschutz of Scout has one of the erased tweets in his timeline.  Josh Newkirk has it as well.

I said "appears", not "is." Also, I get off by saying this based on the fact that he went back on his word to UNC and it is now being suggested, by his own twitter account no less, that he might be going back on his word to Michigan. I know it's easier to live in a world where nobody ever draws any conclusions that are anything other than what you believe to be politically correct, but it's not reality.

I also have no problem with a commit changing his mind on schools several times. It's their right. That being said, that kind of behavior implies that said recruit is impulsive about big decisions, doubts their own judgement, and doesn't take their commitments as seriously as most people would prefer. Kids are kids, but if you wanna be treated like a man of your word then act like it.

Should add that when questioned he apparently responded by saying he is still committed to Michigan and taking officials doesn't change that. Apparently he isn't familiar with Hoke's commitment policy.

I think it was his friends messing with his twitter account again. Regardless, I wish UM fans would leave these kids alone on twitter. Isn't it against the rules for us to tweet them anyway?!?

Indeed it is. If you tweet at recruits with the specific intent of enticing them to come to the institution you support, then you are in violation of the rules. Actually, people who do it seem to forget that you do not need to be an alum or booster or someone with a vested connection to the school, it applies to anyone. The remedy typically is for the school to make the NCAA aware of that communication so that they can show that they do not support it and are doing their best to abide by the rules. Schools will also try to get in touch with the offender and request that they stop the practice.

well rules aside its just wierd and creepy to follow or interact with 16-22 year old strangers over the internet (unless its your job to cover as reporter).  root for them to choose your favorite school all you want, but interacting with random kids on twitter or any other medium simply cannot be defended - its goofy

But, at the start of the season, with a great showing like this, loads of young talent on this team, and guys like Butt and Bunting already on the team and other targets like Wheatley out there...this is the least of my worries.  I still hope UM retains him because he seems like a great player, but if not so be it.

If I was in High School, I'd be all over some free vacations to Florida/California etc.

I'd assume it was more of a "Cool trips sound fun".

Than a "hrmm do I really wanna go to UM?".
