Change of pace since we’re all pissed

We’re all pissed, gotta trust the boys will bounce back. Let’s talk fantasy.

As I’ve said before, I’m a big fan of Red Dead and would love to live in the wild west era. I got to thinking, if you could pick any 20 year span to live during, when and where would it be? You would just be 21 or whatever you consider your prime to be. My initial thought was out west from 1870ish to 1890ish, but the lack of good medical practice scares the shit outta me. I might have to go with LA.. 1960s -1980s. Love me some wild west though, seems so simple, relaxing, yet badass. ?

I've had some time to watch the AAF really closely this weekend, and I am liking what I'm seeing.  the biggest deficit I see with the league is that the QB play is pretty mediocre. If the AAF got some decent QBs, the league would be better to watch.

I think getting some big name players at the end of their careers would help too.  I know he's back in the NFL, but if Marshawn Lynch had played in the AAF after retiring, I think it would have been a big boon to the league.  Ditto Peyton Manning.

I really hope that the XFL doesn't move forward as a separate league, but merges with the AAF.  I don't think there's enough support for 2 professional football minor leagues, but 1 larger league may survive.

Only one of those things is true, but also technology, health care, entertainment, and most other things are better than ever and continuously improving. Athletes are bigger, faster, stronger than ever. I’m married to someone it wouldn’t have been socially acceptable to marry every where in the country in my parents’ lifetime. It’s literally the best time to be alive, and in all likelihood that will continue to be true.

British Isles, 1046 - 1066. Lots of crazy shit happening. Of course you likely die in any number of horrible ways before seeing the 20 years out.

1989 - 2009

Start with a basketball national title, throw in some hockey and football championships in the 1990s, and then watch our basketball program slowly die from NCAA sanctions and our football team disintegrate due to passive management of the program and a general aura of ineptitude from higher ups. Am I doing this right?

Speaking of Red Dead. Wow. Just got to the part being John. This game is A+.

Probably 50 AD ish. Would like to see the world then and live in Rome and hang out with my ancestors.

If a single person correctly bet large amounts of money on App State over Michigan AND UMBC over Virginia then you would be heavily suspected of being a time traveler. The odds of correctly betting on both would be astronomical

Michigan beat Indiana on both:

(1) Saturday 12-November-1955 (the day of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and the lightning strike) AND

(2) Saturday 26-October-1985 (the day where Marty time travels back to 1955 and forward to 2015).

The day they traveled forward to in 2015 was a Wednesday (21-October).  No college football then, but the Cubs did get eliminated from the NLCS by the Mets that very day.  No World Series for them.

Probably from 1989-2009. Get to see three pistons titles, a Michigan basketball and football title, 4 wings Stanley cups, the Magical  tigers 2006 run and still have some use of the new technology of the 21st century. Specifically I would like to spend those 20 years in the playboy mansion if we want a specific place.

I've found most of Mineral King's comments and posts useless. This post is a lovely exception. (Nice job, MK!)

This comment, though? I find it pretty sad. You have all recorded history available and you go super-provincial and choose the Bo years? :)

I can remember a big chunk of them. Good, sometimes very good, never great. Lots of run-run-pass offense[1], bend-and-then-break defense, and getting outcoached when encountering equal or better talent. Seems familiar for some reason ...

[1] I was just remembering something about Bo that drove me crazy. I will always believe that he instructed his tight ends to fall down (rather than go after some YAC) if they caught a short third-down pass for a first down.

Well "Hold this L" and "Team 101" you've made my day! I feel better already!

I've seen them both plus the 68 and 84 Tigers and miracle on ice. The only thing I missed was the 57 lions. I was only 5 at the time. But I've been able to find film on the 52,53, and 57 lions championship games on youtube. The internet is a beautiful thing.

I have read so many comments about this game on this blog and they are mostly deterring me from playing it. I had fun with Red Dead Redemption 1. I’m on AC Odyssey, Sniper 4, and NBA2K19 right now.

I’d choose the 20s and 30s being a rich guy not hindered by the Depression. You want to live in the wild west? Fuck that. Hollywood does a good job making it sound adventrous but I’d never want to live back then.
