Change of pace since we’re all pissed
We’re all pissed, gotta trust the boys will bounce back. Let’s talk fantasy.
As I’ve said before, I’m a big fan of Red Dead and would love to live in the wild west era. I got to thinking, if you could pick any 20 year span to live during, when and where would it be? You would just be 21 or whatever you consider your prime to be. My initial thought was out west from 1870ish to 1890ish, but the lack of good medical practice scares the shit outta me. I might have to go with LA.. 1960s -1980s. Love me some wild west though, seems so simple, relaxing, yet badass. ?

Don’t be a pussy, dive in and dream with Ole’ Mineral King ;)

How many pots have you smoked? Watching AAF. I live in the moment.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:51 PM ^
Not many. Ok, but we all live in the moment.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:11 PM ^
I've had some time to watch the AAF really closely this weekend, and I am liking what I'm seeing. the biggest deficit I see with the league is that the QB play is pretty mediocre. If the AAF got some decent QBs, the league would be better to watch.
I think getting some big name players at the end of their careers would help too. I know he's back in the NFL, but if Marshawn Lynch had played in the AAF after retiring, I think it would have been a big boon to the league. Ditto Peyton Manning.
I really hope that the XFL doesn't move forward as a separate league, but merges with the AAF. I don't think there's enough support for 2 professional football minor leagues, but 1 larger league may survive.

I mean, literally right now is good.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
I don’t know man. We’re slaves to our devices, everyone hates someone who has a different opinion and we can’t beat our rivals.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
Only one of those things is true, but also technology, health care, entertainment, and most other things are better than ever and continuously improving. Athletes are bigger, faster, stronger than ever. I’m married to someone it wouldn’t have been socially acceptable to marry every where in the country in my parents’ lifetime. It’s literally the best time to be alive, and in all likelihood that will continue to be true.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
There literally is no easier time to live in human history than now. So I concur. I would also like to add: People who complain are cucks
February 25th, 2019 at 2:02 PM ^
What is a cuck? I think I agree, I’m assuming it’s some kind of derogatory term, but I was checking for a friend.
February 25th, 2019 at 10:15 AM ^
I'm not white, so I can't really pick any time before 1980. I'll stick with today.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:49 PM ^
British Isles, 1046 - 1066. Lots of crazy shit happening. Of course you likely die in any number of horrible ways before seeing the 20 years out.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:50 PM ^
That’s wild!! This is what I’m talking about folks.
February 24th, 2019 at 7:51 PM ^
1989 - 2009
Start with a basketball national title, throw in some hockey and football championships in the 1990s, and then watch our basketball program slowly die from NCAA sanctions and our football team disintegrate due to passive management of the program and a general aura of ineptitude from higher ups. Am I doing this right?

F*** me I posted the same years without reading any comments. Had the same thought process though.

I already lived that dream, that is back when I was in my 20s and just finished my MS degree. I just wish internet speeds would have increased faster.

Speaking of Red Dead. Wow. Just got to the part being John. This game is A+.
Probably 50 AD ish. Would like to see the world then and live in Rome and hang out with my ancestors.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
I say A++
As long as you weren’t a slave, Rome would be cool.

Can I just go back in time and give myself a sports almanac book
February 24th, 2019 at 8:14 PM ^
I wonder which games or matches would stand to make the most money off of. App state Michigan is probably one. UMBC vs Virginia. Could people bet on Olympic sports, because obviously 1980 miracle would be the best.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
If I remember correctly there wasn’t even a point spread for the horror.
Also, no way I could bet on that game.
February 24th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
If a single person correctly bet large amounts of money on App State over Michigan AND UMBC over Virginia then you would be heavily suspected of being a time traveler. The odds of correctly betting on both would be astronomical

Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson in 1990 at 42-1 odds.

Go back to 2014 and win $1 billion from the NCAA bracket challenge. And then go back to 2007 and tell Carr to practice their kick protection a lot that week.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:29 PM ^
Good idea, butthead.
February 24th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Funny thing about that...
They go back to November 5, 1955, but the Big Ten scores Biff hears on the radio are from November 12, 1955.
I'm surprised Zemeckis didn't catch that.
February 24th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
Marty went back to 11/5/55, but the lightning hit the clock tower on the night of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance a week later on the 12th, and that's the night Biff was driving and heard the scores.
February 24th, 2019 at 9:44 PM ^
Michigan beat Indiana on both:
(1) Saturday 12-November-1955 (the day of the Enchantment Under the Sea dance and the lightning strike) AND
(2) Saturday 26-October-1985 (the day where Marty time travels back to 1955 and forward to 2015).
The day they traveled forward to in 2015 was a Wednesday (21-October). No college football then, but the Cubs did get eliminated from the NLCS by the Mets that very day. No World Series for them.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
Oh you're right. I always forget that when old Biff goes back in part two, it's the night of the dance.
My bad

1865-1885. I would’ ve been credited for a lot of the stuff T.R. has been credited for. The good stuff.
February 24th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Probably from 1989-2009. Get to see three pistons titles, a Michigan basketball and football title, 4 wings Stanley cups, the Magical tigers 2006 run and still have some use of the new technology of the 21st century. Specifically I would like to spend those 20 years in the playboy mansion if we want a specific place.

1969-1989 when Bo was our coach

I've found most of Mineral King's comments and posts useless. This post is a lovely exception. (Nice job, MK!)

This comment, though? I find it pretty sad. You have all recorded history available and you go super-provincial and choose the Bo years? :)
I can remember a big chunk of them. Good, sometimes very good, never great. Lots of run-run-pass offense[1], bend-and-then-break defense, and getting outcoached when encountering equal or better talent. Seems familiar for some reason ...
[1] I was just remembering something about Bo that drove me crazy. I will always believe that he instructed his tight ends to fall down (rather than go after some YAC) if they caught a short third-down pass for a first down.

Well "Hold this L" and "Team 101" you've made my day! I feel better already!
I've seen them both plus the 68 and 84 Tigers and miracle on ice. The only thing I missed was the 57 lions. I was only 5 at the time. But I've been able to find film on the 52,53, and 57 lions championship games on youtube. The internet is a beautiful thing.

Sounds like the opening chapter of Red Dead. Damn.

I tried to escape on the horse and get away from painful story mode. Died in the snow within minutes. I hate story mode!

I did that also haha. It opens up after that first chapter though.
