Chad Morris fired from Arkansas
November 10th, 2019 at 11:53 AM ^
22 straight conference losses will do that you. Hope he enjoys himself at Nick Saban's School for Rehabilitated Coaches.
November 10th, 2019 at 11:56 AM ^
The center for coaches who cant coach good and want to learn how to do other stuff good too
November 10th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
What is this, a coaching center for ants???
November 10th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Chad Morris revitalized Dabo at Clemson by making that offense click exactly at the right time. He should probably come to Michigan as an analyst to help Gattis and Harbaugh.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
We better get in line behind Urban who will be hiring him at USC.
perhaps if we demoted Gattis and hired him as the play caller we might be getting somewhere.
only Bama could get him as an analyst.
November 10th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
I don't think Urban Meyer takes a job to face 2 to 5 of these teams every year.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
Did someone suggest Meyer would go to Arkansas?
November 10th, 2019 at 12:16 PM ^
Ah, just preemptive for the inevitable.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
No, but you better believe Urban would hire Morris as his OC at USC.
Tried to hire him away from Dabo when he took the OSU job.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
If we're being honest, LSU and Alabama are the only legit top 10 teams in the SEC. Everyone else is overrated.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:10 PM ^
You have an interesting sense of overrated... Georgia and FL are not overrated.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:51 PM ^
The same Georgia that lost to SCarolina and almost lost to a very mediocre Notre Dame team and is still spmehow ranked #6(just because of where they started the year)?!? Are we talking about the same team?
November 10th, 2019 at 1:03 PM ^
Definitely agree about both those teams. UGA vs Michigan and Michigan vs Florida would be a toss-ups. Florida only beat South Carolina due to some creative officiating.
November 10th, 2019 at 5:37 PM ^
By your ASSessment of Notre Dame (very mediocre)
Michigans win over them is not worth a shit--right?
November 10th, 2019 at 12:25 PM ^
UGA recruits like a top 5 team.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:00 PM ^
Go Tops!
November 10th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
Dantionio to Arkansas.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:18 PM ^
Dantonio won’t get fired, but he is on his way out on his terms.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
Does "his terms" include hiring his replacement from within?
November 10th, 2019 at 4:00 PM ^
Give the job to Brad Salem. The Sparty version of Mike DeBord.
November 10th, 2019 at 1:11 PM ^
Truth to the AD position rumors?
November 10th, 2019 at 2:01 PM ^
So, while he’ll no longer be coach, he’ll retain the right to be holier-than-tho while recruiting rapists and driving kids from jail to practice? I assume those would be his terms...
November 10th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
Hello PJ Fleck?
November 10th, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
Hi. I am Bert Bielema and I approve this message.
November 10th, 2019 at 1:22 PM ^
I approve of his wife!
November 10th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
I would think he'd get whichever of USC or FSU can't get Urban, especially if he starts 12-0 and gets a division title this year.
November 10th, 2019 at 1:57 PM ^
Not after he signed a 7-year extension at MN. He's not going anywhere.
November 10th, 2019 at 2:49 PM ^
That just means it's harder to fire him. Doesn't mean he won't or can't leave for a higher profile position.
November 10th, 2019 at 3:05 PM ^
Minnesota:
"This is a very fun team. It's a very fun culture, very different, but I love these young men. I love them as my own sons," Fleck said. "A lot of times it's easy for coaches to pick up and leave, go different places. These are very, very special people. I believe in what we can do here."
WMU his final year after an 8-0 start:
"Love Kalmazoo...my sons...lot of years here...blah, blah, blah"
PJ Fleck loves every place he is at...most importantly PJ Fleck loves PJ Fleck. That buyout/contract won't stop him from going to USC, FSU, or any other situation he deems bigger and better for PJ Fleck.
I suspect Fleck fancies himself an NFL coach and that is his ultimate destination. You can't argue with his results so far. He has taken two programs to a season they might not have had otherwise.
November 10th, 2019 at 5:49 PM ^
Good post. However, Fleck won't get an NFL job from Minnesota. He will have to go to USC, Michigan, Notre Dame or another blue blood and win big then the NFL will come calling. And yes, if a blue blood comes calling, he gone.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:21 PM ^
Harbaugh's wife has always wanted to live in Arkansas. . .
November 10th, 2019 at 1:40 PM ^
Tbh, Fayetteville is amazing. Western Arkansas is beautiful.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:23 PM ^
He rebuilt SMU....surprised it didn’t work out at Arkansas....
November 10th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
He got them to 7-5 (4-4) in his last year there. Better than when he started, but it’s not like he had them contending for the conference or anything.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:36 PM ^
Arkansas is in a pretty tough spot, I feel like they would benefit from moving from the SEC to the Big XII if they were interested in trading some money for a few more wins. They would instantly go to 3rd overall in terms of program potential behind OU and Texas. Even the year they were really good under Petrino they finished 3rd in the SEC West.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
Yeah, dying at the hands of the Hilltopper mascot would be.....terrifying.
I wonder who Arkansas thinks they will con into coaching the SEC's Rutgers.
November 10th, 2019 at 1:24 PM ^
They aren't really Rutgers though, are they? I do believe there's a disconnect between what they think is possible and what really is possible in the context of the SEC West, but they're clearly a football school with history and some notable successes in the past. They were an elite team in the 60s but even through the Nutt and Petrino years they were generally a solid and sometimes pretty good team.
Their problem really is that the SEC West is a permanent arms race in which they will always be one step behind the top teams. In any other conference a school that committed to football and investing money in coaches and players would be a force to be reckoned with I'd say.
November 10th, 2019 at 2:52 PM ^
They got rid of Nutt because they couldn't stomach the thought of another 8-4 season.
November 10th, 2019 at 12:53 PM ^
Pretty ironic how Chad Morris chased away last years QB, Ty Storey, who ended up transferring to WKU and provided the death blow to Morris’ Arkansas tenure
November 10th, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
Obligatory, I'd love to see him on board as an analyst.
Carry on...
November 10th, 2019 at 2:02 PM ^
Lane Kiffin? He has to be on the list of folk that Arkansas will call, right?
Mike Norvell is definitely on the list. No doubt there. Though I think he could do better than Arkansas in the long run.
Hugh Freeze's "rehab tour" probably needs another 1-2 years in Lynchburg, VA. I doubt he gets a call this fall .... but he will from someone either next fall or the one after.
November 10th, 2019 at 2:11 PM ^
Poor Chad. He drowned in a Bielema sized chasm of quicksand consisting of pork rinds and nacho cheese.
November 10th, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
You forgot a gross of Royales with cheese.
November 10th, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
Id get rid of Ben Mcdaniels and bring in Chad Morris as a Co-OC.
November 10th, 2019 at 4:58 PM ^
Will he rejoin the Red Hot Chilli Peppers? Oh wait, that was Chad Smith, right? Who is Chad Morris again?
November 10th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
when do some of these ADs get fired for hiring coaches then firing them in less than two years costing their university millions.
November 10th, 2019 at 10:32 PM ^
I'm surprised he wasn't fired immediately after the game. I know, I know - who are they going to get - there's nobody better - but with all that Jerry Jones money and his grandson at QB, I can't believe the wallet won't open up.
