that Michigan has only one win over a ranked opponent (Wisconsin). Not sure why they are not counting Penn State and Colorado.

I'll add my post to the A&M at 4 is bullshit chorus. What the fuck? I think we should be at 2 instead of Clemson, but the position there doesn't matter--2 and 3 play each other.

Except nobody was ranked when anyone played them by this ranking body. The committee clearly thinks PSU and Colorado are undervalued by the AP, so who cares what the AP thought of them when nobody had good enough information to make a quality read on a team? There's a reason the CFP rankings don't come out until later in the season. It seems weird that the committee who makes those rankings would be concerned with what people thought of teams early in the season.

Especially at this point. Even if we end up 3 in the final rankings, all that means is that we'll be the road team in a neutral site game. It doesn't mean we have to travel to Clemson. So there's nothing to concern ourselves about at this time.
Have they determined which semifinal is going to have which game? I think I'd rather play at the Fiesta Bowl.

It's almost impossible for us to finish at #3.
If we win out, we will jump Clemson to be #2. We will likely beat two more Top 10 teams if we win out. Clemson has nobody lined up on their schedule and ACC championship game that can match that.
If we don't win out, we'll drop below #3.

I don't like it. It gives us less wiggle room should we struggle vs OSU.
Put some steel in yo spines, boys. Gotta win em all.

on the road. No one will fault us for winning by just one point. Even that will be impressive enough to set us up for the two seed and certainly not drop. We don't need "wiggle room" there. We just need to win.

are usually a lot better at football than sophomores regardless of coach, though. Yes, superb player development and coaching in the last two years but let's not pretend that the roster being the same in terms of names on jerseys means that two extra years to get bigger, faster and more experience doesn't help as well.

Unfreakin-believable no one mentioned Penn State lost to Michigan 49-10 they must have been brought up 6 times!!!

Why do we have to hear from Paul Finebaum on this matter? I don't give a shit about your biased opinions.
November 1st, 2016 at 8:24 PM ^
Seriously. Where are the "representatives" of the Big Ten, ACC, and Pac 12?
Why does he get to have any say?
That's what the SEC network is for.

At this point all it means is that we have to wear white jerseys in our first round playoff game.

And none of them beat Michigan.
November 1st, 2016 at 7:32 PM ^
If we win out (knock on wood) we will 100% jump Clemson. They play no one for the remainder of the regular season and would play current #19 Virginia Tech or #21 UNC in ACC Championship game.
We'd beat current #6 OSU and current #8 Wisco or #10 Nebraska in B1G Championship game.
All good. Just win.

"The Crimson Tide is 8-0 heading into Saturday's game at LSU. Clemson is also 8-0 after coming from behind to beat Florida State last Saturday in Tallahassee. Michigan (8-0) beat Michigan State last week, but has played only one ranked opponent all season (a 14-7 win at Wisconsin)."
Um, no ESPN, Alabama has played only one ranked opponent.
November 1st, 2016 at 7:39 PM ^
at Wisconsin?
I also love how they don't count Colorado & PSU as ranked wins. So does Wisconsin gets a top 10 win over MSU? Do we get that top 10 win too? Does the value of meeting Team A literally change based on how good we thought they were week to week?

Eh. Tennessee was living on the edge even before they played Alabama. They could have lost to App State, Ohio, and Georgia up to that point.
November 1st, 2016 at 8:06 PM ^
Wasn't Penn State just down a few linebackers? I don't thnk you'd disagree that doesn't explain the full 39 point differential
And I gotta agree with the above, people have been looking at Tennessee as frauds ever since the narrow wins over App State & Ohio. I think getting smoked by Bama was just expected

If they are only going to refer to a team's rank when played, the perpetual over-ranking of SEC teams to start the season will always give them a leg up. There's a reason when they showed the initial playoff rankings and all the teams that drop out are SEC teams, except tOSU which only fell to 7.
