CFB kickoff Thursday September 1st
The calm before the storm is upon us. September 1st is opening night and I thought I would look to see if there was a non body bag game I could watch and not have my wife give me the look of "You’re a sad, sad man for watching MAC football". So here's Thursday/Friday's schedule and I'm still going to watch the B1G and hope the Penguins can pull one out.

There are no lines posted when a 1-A team plays a 1-AA team.
Also, these are some sorry games.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
You are a Scholar and a Gentleman.
Yes they are sorry games but I'm still gonna watch and be as happy as Charlis Weiss at Old Country Buffet.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
Really would like to see a YSU victory.
August 24th, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
If YSU beats Sparty, that will mean that I was too "optimistic" in pegging Sparty for 6-6 or 7-5. It would make a 4-8 season for them look very possible.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
If the games aren't interesting enough, bet more money on them!
August 24th, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
Go Penguins!! YSU alum here.

TCU has a fantastic defense, Baylor has a fairly explosive offense, new TCU QB... Should be a pretty darned good game. I'll tune in.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:28 PM ^
Excellent post. I had been wondering this very thing myself.

Dang, your wife knows what the MAC is? Lucky guy, you are.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Youngstown State hasn't been any good since Cheaty McSweater Vest left.
MSU should win it, they are in deep trouble if they don't.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:42 PM ^
They actually gave Penn State a pretty good game last year for a little while, although the final score definitely didn't reflect that.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
TCU/Baylor is the only remotely interesting game on that shitty two-day slate.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:33 PM ^
Dont sleep on wake-syracuse either. neither team is heralded, but it should be a competitive affair.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:35 PM ^
Is Wake going to be not-terrible this season?
August 24th, 2011 at 2:59 PM ^
They'll be just as bad. But not for lack of improvement, it's just the incremental improvement made when compared to the rest of the ACC teams and other Non-cons on their schedule is just not encouraging in the least.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
So your saying that they will keep me a-wake?
August 24th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
You would think they would've at least thrown an interesting Virginia Tech or Boise State game out there on Thursday.
August 24th, 2011 at 2:51 PM ^
Thank god that South Carolina is finally off of ESPN's opening Thursday night schedule. I feel like I've been watching Steve Spurrier getting flustered at Stephen Garcia for throwing picks for about 5 years in a row.
August 24th, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
I think all the suspensions added up to a couple redshirt years...
August 24th, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
I would watch Bowling Green - Idaho just to get my college football fix. it's been too long
August 24th, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
I'll watch anything, I'm that desperate. The best game on Thursday sadly looks to be 'Cuse-Wake Forest, but I probably won't get it where I am. I'll probably end up watching Wisconsin/UNLV because it's a B1G game. Friday will be TCU-Baylor which could actually be a good game.
Side note, but I've noticed that Wisconsin played UNLV last year, in '07, and every year from '02-'04 as well. Does anyone know why they have this series going? I mean UNLV just seems like such a random team to have a series with for Wisconsin.

My wife and I are misplaced Michiganders, but we'll be going to the UNLV game courtesy of some of her colleagues free tickets.
August 24th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
I think he was their basketball coach back in the day. s/
August 24th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
I will never take football season for granted again, especially with the lockout being over so soon.
August 24th, 2011 at 6:06 PM ^
Youngstown St. will pull the upset! If they do, Mike Valenti will lose his voice.
August 24th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
That is a crazy number of Thursday games. It kind of defeats the purpose of scheduling a game for then (i.e., to gain extra exposure) when there's this many.
