8 Notre Dame vs. 9 Ohio

7 Lake Superior State vs. 10 Alaska

(Michigan faces second worst seed)

Michigan could play more options than the 7-10 matchup.  CCHA re-seeds after the 1st Round, so Michigan will play the 2nd lowest remaining seed (i.e. If NMU, Ohio, Alaska win Michigan would face Ohio).

Michigan doesn't necessarily face the winner of Lake State v Alaska.  They will re-seed after this round, so Michigan will face the 2nd worst winner.  If the seeds hold, Michigan plays Lake State.  If (say) BG beats NMU but the other seeds hold, Michigan plays Notre Dame next week.  (EDIT:  beaten to the punch by fhshockey on the re-seed explanation).

Anyway, Alaska is up 1-0 after 10 minutes in Sault Ste. Marie.  The other 2 games start at 7:30.

I don't want to see Notre Dame in the quarters; I'd much rather face LSSU (Or Ohio, but I don't see them winning a game against ND).  So hopefully the Lakers can win tonight, though they're down 1-0 to Alaska.

Also, Northeastern is beating BU, which would (if it held up) pretty much lock up our comparison with BU in the Pairwise.  So go Huskies!

The one and only thing I want that nd has is the free video streaming for ALL sports like they have on their site, and not the pay-for videos by the communists at BTN.

I'm actually attending my first ever Michigan hockey game next Friday night, and I gotta say I'm beyond pumped. But my question is that the game (next Friday night) that you're all referencing? Does tonight's games determine next Friday's Michigan game?

Yes. It's ccha playoffs. Michigan has a first round bye. So the games this weekend will determine who comes to Yost next weekend.

Enjoy your first game at Yost. It changed my life when I became a Michigan hockey fan!

Thanks for the reply.

I've always been a diehard Michigan fan, but I've just recently gotten into hockey in the past 2 years or so. I've heard how epic an atmosphere Yost is and I'm extremely excited.

My friend who is taking me is actually a big Sparty fan... He just enjoys Michigan games at Yost so much that he buys tickets for their games. Tells me quite a bit about the experience!

6 northern has just gained the lead, 2-1 over 11 bowling green near the middle of the 2nd period.

8 notre dame has just scored and now has a 2-0 lead over 9 ohio in the 2nd period.

A scoring flury going on, alaska and lake both score quickly in the 3rd period as lake leads 4-2.

costello from ND got a 5 minute major and was ejected for elbowing so ohio has a great chance to score on ND and make it a game now.

bowling green and northern tied at 2 at the 2nd intermission.

8 notre dame leads 9 ohio 2-0 at the 2nd intermission. ohio will still be on a PP in the 3rd period.

Just checked my guide and Xfinity (formerly Comcast TV) will have the rights to Game 2 of the CCHA Playoff Quarterfinals at Yost next weekend. They won't have Game 1 though, which is idiotic because NOBODY watches that channel for anything except Michigan Hockey.

northern has just regained the lead, 3-2 against bowling green in the 3rd.

3rd period underway in south bend, ohio still on PP.

northern has just added another and leads 4-2 in the 3rd.

7 lake state beats alaska 4-3 and takes a 1-0 series lead.

notre dame leads ohio 2-0 with under 8 left. ohio could not score on the notre dame 5 minute major.

6 northern has beaten 11 bowing green 4-2 to take a 1-0 series lead.

1:42 left in 8 notre dame vs 9 ohio. Teams are playing 4-on-4 but ohio has pulled their goal so essentially it's a ohio PP.

Final: 8 notre dame beats 9 ohio 2-0 to take a 1-0 series lead.

All of the higher seeds have won tonight.

BC, BU, and Lowell win over weak opponents; Denver beat UNO on the road 3-0; Minnesota is losing 4-0 to Wisconsin; UMD is losing to St. Cloud 2-0 in the 2nd.  A Duluth loss would their TUC record a bit, but not enough to drop them below Michigan; it basically halves the difference.  If they lose ttonight and tomorrow, we jump them in the pairwise.
