Very neat article regarding Les' situation at LSU. Apparently one of his kids is considering Michigan for college. It also talks about how he is under appreciated at LSU and that he should follow his heart.

Personally, if both of the Harbros don't end up here (which seems pretty likely).. then my coaching list would be

1) Stoops (if genuinely interested)

2) Miles

3) Frost or Herman?

FWIW...

Ahh yes the lovely Carr contingent that led us into this mess in the first place. I don't get it. Why does Michigan allow these cronies to keep having influence on shit? Does anyone see Tom Osborne haunting Nebraska football the way Carr still does here? Osborne was a way better coach too. Geeze.

He also forced them into a new conference against their fans wishes, hired the coach they just shitcanned and basically appointed himself AD while serving as the interim

Anyone complaining about Lloyd, who isn't even employed by the university, should use a better example than effing Tom Osborne

Lol you are seriously gonna play the Toledo card? Okay I'll bite. Carr lost to App St., the biggest upset in the history of college football resulting in one of the largest plummets from the Top 25 in history.

Yeah, I'll complain about that and I'll complain about the shenanigans his contingent pulled after hiring RR.

No.  HTTV said his choices were DeBord and Fernetz.  Not eeeee! but not English.

Which recruits did he push away, by the way?  Nothing in 3 and Out about that that I recall.  Also, consensus is that he said he'd sign papers but didn't TELL guys they should transfer (only two guys did iirc, which is a pretty bad record of encouragement).

Lloyd Carr, the Great Satan, told a bunch of tall wideouts, fat offensive linement and rocket armed statue QBs that they would be a poor fit in a zone-read option offense and that he would be willing to sign their release papers

HE IS HISTORY'S GREATEST MONSTER

WITHOUT HIM WE MIGHT HAVE HAD RYAN MALLETT RUNNING THE OPTION WHILE MARIO MANNINGHAM BLOCKED DOWNFIELD, JUST LIKE RICH WANTED

Did RR or Hoke lose to Appy State?

LC had one MNC year, but he also presided over the time when Michigan gave control of the OSU rivalry back to OSU.  He also gutted the roster and undermined recuiting from his cushy office in Schembechler Hall.  LC and his followers put their personal agenda ahead of "The Team, The Team, The Team" and are responsible for eight years of terrible football, counting 2007.

If LC had shown the class that a departing Bump Elliot or Rich Rod showed, Rich Rod would have gotten his fourth year and been able to bring Jeff Casteel along with him.  LC did a lot of good things but he is very much responsible for the shit we have been watching the last eight years, too.

We we're coming off a potential natl championship year and were ranked #5. We should not have lost to Appy State. PERIOD. No matter how good they were. What part of that don't you understand?

2008 was a shit show regardless just by looking at that damn skeleton of a roster with walkon QBs

So let me see if I have this straight.  The "Michigan Man" meme is dead according to Hackett but the Lloyd Loyalists, the same people who put the killshot into the last HC who was an outsider from day one, are leading the search committee.

This ought to be just fucking great then.  I can see it now....

MIles?

NO - He does bad things at press conferences

Mullen?

NO - He does bad things to recruits

Pinkel?

NO - He doesnt know our area well enough

Stoops?

NO - What's he done lately that's so special

Cameron?

Now you're talking.  A guy with vision, a coach that knows what's what and definitely a guy this campus can embrace day one.  Love it!!!!

Lloyd Carr was the head coach here for over a decade. He spent 28 years working at the university. Would you like to exclude anyone who worked or played for him from any position of authority with the school?

Bye bye Woodson avatars and cheering for Tom Brady and calling for Mike Hart to be our next head coach... you're all part of the EEEEEEEVIL Lloyd faction that is irrationally out to destroy Michigan football for uhhh reasons I guess?

I would like to believe that Hackett's comment about laying the "Michigan Man" to rest means we've gotten past such thinking, but ugh. These guys helped* sink one coach, then clamored for, and were granted, the hiring of an inadequate one. Will they just not be happy until Michigan is Notre Dame?

*Obligatory, "Yes, RR also made plenty of mistakes of his own" acknowledgment to appease certain parties

Exactly, it's not 2007, the year he won a national championship.  It's also not 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 when he won 10 or more games.  It is not one of the 5 seasons his team finished ranked in the top 10 in the country.

But holy smokes, he might do some of those things again, right?

The one thing that excites me most about Miles is his potential ability to recruit the deep south. There is a ton of front 7 talent down there that UM has missed out on the last decade.

Huge is going absolutely wild right now over the mere thought of DeBord being involved in the coaching search.

in case anyone was interested in tuning in.  I listened to Huge go off for a while, pretended to put away the work I wasn't doing, got in my car and listened some more.  It was a very animated show today.

Miles uber alles.

If we end up with some half ass MAC coach or unproven coordinator, with Miles chomping at the bit for the job, we might as well quit drinking, go to bed, find another team to root for, and have a nice life.

If it wasn't for the goddamn Carr contingent Les would have been here for 7 years already.  Winning the B1G, playing for the NC, and beating the piss out of sparty and tOSU.

Thinking about getting Schiano instead of Les makes me feel all stabby.

Stoops or Miles would be home run hires.  No one should be anything but tickled with either.  If Stoops had been at LSU for a decade and Miles at Oklahoma I bet both programs do the exact same thing give or take 3 wins over a decade.

Neither are Saban.  There is only 1.  Maybe neither is Urban.  But fergodsakes Urban is beatable with Hoke as a coach, we almost did it last year and we could have done it this year with any viable QB who didnt have a pick 6 on his first pass and another fumble gift wrap TD late in the game. Piece of crap PSU should have beaten them if not for the refs.  Urbz at OSU doesnt scare me like Urbz at UF - talent in the Midwest is just not the same.

Look it is going to be difficult for a Big 10 team to win a NC - not sure anyone north of Mason Dixon has done it since 2002.  That's not my goal when Bama is getting 6 five stars a class. Main focus at this stage is find guy to beat Dantonio 2 out of 3, and Meyer 1 out of 2, get to a playoff every 3rd 4th year and get us back to some Rose Bowls.  Both these guys get us to this path.  And Les would provide shits and giggles along the way.
