Caris LeVert writes to NBA GMs in The Players' Tribune
Am I the only one "working" today? This is great. Caris writes about his early challenges, overcoming adversity, ending up a Wolverine, and why he's ready to work in the NBA.

Dear NBA GMs: My name is Caris LeVert. I’m a six-foot-seven point-slash-shooting guard from Pickerington, Ohio, via the University of Michigan, and there are some things that you should know about me.
You probably heard that I hurt my foot a few months ago. It’s all anyone talks about when my name comes up at this point. There was a surgery, and, for a while, a walking boot. I was the guy on crutches at the combine. And since I had some foot issues earlier in my college career, doubters have come out in droves.
Now lots of people are asking whether I can come back and be the player I was before, whether I’m tough enough to pick myself up and be resilient in the face of adversity. It’s a strange thing for me to hear, honestly, because I know all about adversity and resiliency. I learned about those things at a young age. Had to. Didn’t have a choice.

This was very good.
I wish him nothing but the best in the NBA, he'd be a lottery pick if not for that foot.
Second round, I believe...
one mock draft I saw had him going 49th to the pistons
Thanks guys
Caris is going to be a steal in this draft if he can stay healthy. Still oozes potential, and his shooting is only getting better. When he bulks up a bit more he's gonna be tough to stop.
really hope he can stay healthy and succeed in the NBA.
Unfortunately, he's going to go in the 2nd round because he broke his left foot three years in a row. He may have stayed in the 1st round if it was a one-time injury. It sucks, but his injury history is going to force him to have a tougher route.
That being said, I'd be happy if my Pacers used their 2nd rounder on him, but I really doubt he slips to 43.
Caris is going to go lower than his basketball ability because of his injury history. But once you reach the "unlikely to make the NBA ability level", its time to take the injury risk on LeVert. I'm guessing that's early 2nd round.
I thing he is a future NBA starter if he can stay healthy. Very low risk pick in the 2nd round. Hoping the C's take him with one of their 5 second round picks.
Very impressive! Whoever gets Caris will be happy with their decision.
I loved it that he never bothered to mention Groce's name, just the Coach at Ohio / Illinois. Best of luck Caris!
That was an excellent letter, and moreover, very moving and personal to hear him tell the whole story of Caris in his own words.
I really hope he lands somewhere and get to contribute - it seems only fitting that someone who has worked this hard should get a shot in the league.
Good luck to Caris, seems like a great kid and he deserves to catch some good breaks. Like all the guys in the class before him, we didn't get to see enough of him in a wolverine jersey
Caris Lavert will have a career in the NBA.
Not sure about him. But Caris LeVert will.
Great and all, but a basketball player with foot issues is a huge red flag. I hope for the best, but history and data are not on his side.
Recent history is on his side, did you read the article?
Sure it's tough, but lots of players with the exact same injury have come back from it fine lately, including Keving Durant who had the same doctor as Caris perform the surgery.
Good luck to him; a classy kid who deserved a better break than he got toward the end of his time at UM.

He's signed with Roc Nation so I'm expecting him to go late to the Knicks and back up Carmelo.
Raback it.
Give Caris a year or two in the D-league and he'll be ready to start for just about anybody. He'll be an All Star within 4 years.
I like and respect his style. Hopefully an intelligent organization will land him and reap the benefits he can bring. I think many overlook the fact that once you are done taking the tough classes at UM, you have a ton of free time to perfect a craft. Who's got it better? Not NDSU, I know that fact you sons a bitches!!
