Canteen standing out in spring camp
Mlive has a write up about Wilton Speight and Freddy Canteen turning heads. While the Speight news is good to hear and the majority of the article was about him, he probably has little likelihood of playing this year. Canteen would help tremendously in the slot this year.
Definitely nothing to take away from the article on Canteen.
Well, then somone better pick it up before one of our OL trip over it and hurt themselves.
heh. wouldn't surprise me at this point. someone would trip and tear an ACL just because that's how it goes nowadays. apparently.
I REFUSE TO BE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT WIDE RECEIVERS UNTIL I HEAR POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT THE O LINE!

Understand what you're saying, but both Gardner and Gallon had pretty incredible years in 2013 with regards to the passing game...despite the struggles of the oline.
Fewer TO's would be nice. I guess what I was getting at is despite the awful oline in 2013, the passing game wasn't bad. Granted, they don't appear to have a wr the caliber of Gallon heading into 2014 but I'm not ruling out having a decent passing game next year.
Honestly I'm not suprised at all, kids got talent
"Speight, from Richmond, Va., might be a little more seasoned than the average true freshman quarterback. He was granted a fifth year at The Collegiate School after he broke his collarbone in the 2011 season opener."
Dang, I wasn't aware that you could redshirt in high school. I would definitely have hit more parties had I known.
Dan Dakich was granted a fifth year in high school due to an injury. I'm guessing that many jurisdictions allow some kind of redshirt in extraordinary circumstances.
But, when I was in high school in Michigan in the 1970s there was an age limit for athletic eligibility, so even if a redshirt were possible and granted, once the student turned 19 he was no longer eligible.
I have confidence in Nussmeier. If the OL sucks, M's offense will just move to more quick passes and misdirection. A bad OL isn't always doom for a well-coached offense.
Yes it is.
yeah you can only do so many things so many times with poor OLine play...it makes you very predictable and takes away an ability to stretch the field...Also lets defenses get pressure with four rushers and makes passing and running lanes tight..OLine needs to come through and i think the coaches are set on making that happen.
from the twitters.

I'm more excited about the fact that he brought up Mone. That's huge.
Yeah, I'll wait to see it before I get excited.
There you go, Dave. There's your 2014 season "slogan".
That's what I said on my last date.

That's what your last date said...

Agreed.
"Believe it when I see it" is the official football theme go forward. Unlike basketball there is not a track record here recently to lay anything on. And frankly relying on true freshman for anything is not something we should be hanging our hats on. I'd rather have heard Stribling is making Funchess erased or Dawson has made Beyer into a personal plaything or Gedeon is making Morgan nervous about playing time etc.
" these freshmen are showing a good bit of potential"...which is kind of what the coachspeak says.
Its usually the fan base (with some help from sporting media) which parlays this into "immediate results on gameday almost assurredly guaranteed". I bit that hook last year 8-)
Canteen would seem to be a steal if he can reach his potential, as I recall I don't think he was highly recruited but impressed the coaching staff a LOT during summer camps.
but verify.
Not buying anymore MLive hype... Literally wanted to kill them after last season.

If you are using "literattly" correctly, then you might need some therapy for thoughts of committing murder. But I guess we can assume you meant "figuratively."

Just locking this in for posterity.
