I was really looking forward to seeing a bigger Cam Gordon being played in the proper position, however, Jake Ryan made a difference in his absence

When did he go down with the injury? I don't remember seeing anyone but Woolfolk go out...

an injury that happened in the game. He was out prior to the game.

He didn't go out with an injury, he was ruled out before it began. Also Barnum, Hopkins and Evans were suspended for the game.

I know there were rumblings about a Hopkins suspension, but has anyone heard anything else about the Barnum and Evans suspensions? Specifically, are they one-gamers or more of the hagerup variety?

Hoke said he expects all three to be back next week

Yeah, I'm watching the game on ESPN3 right now since I didn't get to see it live, and one of the announcers said that Barnum was one of 3 Wolverines who were suspended for the afternoon for breaking an unspecified team rule.

These most recent 1 game suspensions sounds like a missed curfew or late to a team meeting issue.

It most likely was just a precaution to hold him out, just like not putting T-Wolf back in. I thought jake ryan played pretty good though.

The Wolverine reports he will be back for next week. Located in game story under notes.

Agreed we need Cam back, but in retrospect I felt like Jake Ryan played a good game in his place, considering without his tipped pass (leading to Herron's touchdown) it changed the momentum of the game. Some of his blitzes really disrupted Western in the 2nd half too.

Was declared hurt before the game.
Edit: Supposed to be in reply to the guy above who asked when he went down

I have grown very fond of Jake Ryan over this past year. In the spring game he showed that he was a playmaker, the interception for a td, and today he proved it again. I really think he could be our Clay Mathews type linebacker. I would love to see Cam get healthy and be a key player on that defense, but as of today, I really like Jake Ryan. I think there will be a competition building in the near future.

The kid has a great head of hair too.

He looks like "Sunshine" from "Remember the Titans".

He is having that hair competition with Denard so maybe he lets it grow so we can have the stereotypical white linebacker with long blonde hair coming out off the back of his helmet

How do you keep Ryan off the field? I anticipate that even when Cam is healthy, Ryan will rotate in and play significant minutes. Also, Cam better play well or Ryan will get more and more time.

Mattison will find a way to put both Cam and Jake on the field. Both are two players you can't just leave on the bench for a whole game.

Cam Gordon, Kenny Demens, Jake Ryan...who is going to cover and pass defend? You have two blitzers and a run stopper in the middle. Unless it's a 90%+ run situation, you can't play those 3 at the same time. We have to have someone who can drop into the correct zone and feel comfortable taking TE's and RB's out of the backfield.

I guess the pre-game injury reports are a thing of the past.
