Maybe it’s a phone thing,…

Maybe it’s a phone thing, but for some reason, now that this is no longer on the front page, I can’t access anything “after the jump.”

When I can make games now, I…

When I can make games now, I'm usually driving from Grand Rapids, and I'm a firm believer in the parking structure at 4th and Williams. It's cheap and always seems to have space. It's not too far from the stadium, and you can always take a walk toward campus to reminisce or got straight toward the Stadium. It also puts you close to bar/restaurant options for both before and after the game. If you have the time to spare after, you can grab some good food or beer (if you're not the driver) while waiting for traffic to US-23 to clear up.

How would we evaluate

A QB with fewer than 7 YPA and less than 60% completion rate in a season preview? Maybe he's at the top end of the conference in given years, but those aren't damn good numbers. The 9000 yards is a function of number of attempts, not the greatest QB play. Navarre was incredibly frustrating to watch at times and I think the comparison to him and Speight is pretty strong right now. I hope Speight makes this seem crazy by the end of the year.

I too was at the game

And I'm wondering when there was widespread booing at the players. There were plenty of boos for the refs, who didn't go so far as take a legal TD off the board but did do their best to turn on a worse performance than last week's crew.

What's irresponsible

What's irresponsible was Hoke leaving an immobile quarterback in there to get drilled. Morris was clearly injured (there is a difference between hurt and injured, and Morris was clearly the latter), and it seemed almost inevitable that he would get hit hard because he couldn't move quickly enough to avoid contact. Once that hit happened and Morris was injured even more, he should never have been an option for the rest of the game. Leaving him out there and then putting him back in is coaching malpractice.

I've never been one to care about this before, but if Hoke had a headset, maybe someone could have educated him about Morris's problems. Throw on top of that Bellomy not even being ready to go into the game if he had to, and the picture being painted is one of a bad coach who can't respond to new information in a game and whose team isn't prepared well enough on a weekly basis.

More of this

More of this. I was texting a friend like crazy about how bad the reffing was. There was one play that just made me think "Big Dance call," only called to build the drama as things are getting close. My heart almost gave out when they reviewed the inbounds pass that Tennessee tipped and Stauskas didn't even touch. I was ready for them to blow a second OOB call.

With all that said, we're advancing to the Elite 8 (Hail!) but those refs should be done for the tournament.

Having been to a game

Having been to a game using GA, it would mean that the students would likely get a general ticket with no seating assignment and then they would show up to a special ticketing window/area to get their seating assignment on gameday.

My brother went to MSU while I was at UM, and they used to have two student sections. The general section and the "Corner Blitz." Corner Blitz students had generic tickets for which they paid more, and it entitled them to a seat lower in the bowl portion of the student section that went about halfway up the student section. They also had special shirts and would get small items at games to encourage more cheering (e.g. towels or other items). They abandoned the Corner Blitz by the 2007 season, but it was in place in 2005 when I went to the game in EL.

All four #2 seeds

All four #2 seeds have made the Sweet Sixteen exactly once over the past 15 years. You might want to rethink this.

We lost because

We lost because we don't have this:

THJ with the NBA

THJ with the NBA skillz!!! #1 #1 #1

If you can wait

If you can wait until the end of the season, they will drop to $14.

It's nice to have

It's nice to have length on that 1-3-1 zone!

And there's the

And there's the makeup call.

Because Richardson was

Because Richardson was out of control, it's a foul...

Trey doing his best

Trey doing his best Craft impression. Love it!

Also, it's hard to be clean

Also, it's hard to be clean when there are two different standards for what a foul is depending on the half.

With that call,

With that call on GRIII, the refs have lost my respect.

Guess BTN didn't get the memo

Guess BTN didn't get the memo. I thought the 1993 Final Four never happened.

I agree.

I agree. The first possession that they introduced it, the Illini threw the ball away because of the change in pressure.

Are you sure

Are you sure that we're being out rebounded? The %'s are probably very close. In terms of sheer numbers, we have more boards.

double

fail

I'll take the lead

I'll take the lead, but I've been yelling "NOOOOO, TTTTRRREEEEEYYYYY!" a bit too much with some of that shot selection.

Freshmen are carrying us right now

Freshmen are carrying us right now. We just need to finish this half out, and then I look forward to Beilein halftime adjustments and Trey/Tim getting back into this game (although they both are Ding up pretty well).

Does Griffey always

Does Griffey always have to play well against us?

Not to mention

Not to mention they only happen to him at a 40%. He still hits a respectable 60% of his shots, even if he does miss some good opportunities.

Weak hand check call.

Weak hand check call. You'd be laughed off most courts for calling that.

Nice find

Nice find by Robinson! Canadian Assassin!

Illinois has done a good job

Illinois has done a good job keeping UM out on the perimeter offensively, but I think our guys will start to see the openings. Burke's pass to McGary is a nice start.

I almost threw my laptop

I almost threw my laptop because of that trick and then I saw the color of the that jersey. GO BLUE!!! Good luck Derrick!

I was at that Red Sox

I was at that Red Sox game against the Orioles and stayed the whole time. Chris Davis could actually be a decent reliever. He hit 92/93 mph on the gun on his fastballs and had a legitimate changeup to strike people out with.

Yeah, he doesn't get

Yeah, he doesn't get that less can be more. The last time I've beeen this annoyed with an announcer is when Dave O'Brien did the World Cup.

Is it just me

Is it just me or is Bruce Pearl making anyone else watch this on mute?

It's not just the stat line

It's not just the stat line that's impressive. Did you see the trajectory on Smith's passes, especially the deep balls? It was a beautiful display. Holgo may be responsible for a great offense, but a scheme is not responsible for 45-51.

Thanks for a relevant and informative post

Thanks for a relevant and informative post during the offseason. I like some of the OT stuff that's on the boards, but this blog is about Michigan sports and seeing something like this - given some of the stuff on the board - is refreshing.

Also, great seasons from all these Wolverines! Go Blue!

Just google Sepp Blatter corruption

Just google Sepp Blatter corruption. I'm specifically thinking of things related to the last FIFA presidential election and the awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Qatar. If you want to learn more about the corruption inside FIFA, you also need to look at the regional organizations, primarily CONCACAF and Jack Warner. Bottom line: it's a cesspool.

Would you dissuade a kid in California

Would you dissuade a kid in California from rooting for the Wolverines simply because he saw them on tv and loved the helmets and the good team on the field? And would you blame him further if he then looked up this magical team on the internets and was taken in by their history? A lot of people root for United, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea for these same reasons (as well as the fact that other teams are very hard to follow from the US). I love United and I'm not ashamed to say it.

United doesn't get enough

United doesn't get enough credit for their youth system. The foundation for their dominance in the 90s was built on players who came through the youth system, and two of them continue to make a contribution today.

Gloves do more

Gloves do more to protect a fighter's hands than they do to protect a fighter's head. A heavy blow is a heavy blow.

Why do I keep clicking

Why do I keep clicking on these threads... smh.

The old logo is clearly better

The old logo is clearly better looking. This new one is some graphic artist totally phoning it in. You can't even really tell what that's supposed to be. Is that a train engine with smoke behind or it? Or is it a personalized Masterlock for Purdue fans? Or is it the bad guy from Fern Gully "riding' the top of that giant logging machine? Who knows and Nike probably doesn't care.

I haven't seen

I haven't seen the twitter action to know if the coaches told them not to visit, but generally speaking, did it not occur to you that the recruits might be cancelling the visits? If you were a recruit, wouldn't you reconsider using your family's resources to visit a school if they told you they were full?

No, Steve Breaston?

No, Steve Breaston?

I don't think

I don't think the school will be asking Rumeal Robinson to be doing too many PR or promotional things.

This is easy.

This is easy. BTB > Qdoba > Chipotle > Pancheros. Why? That is the order of things.

If they were talking to real fans,

If they were talking to real fans, 29% would not be undecided about Hoke (unless the previous three years had made them wary about feeling good about the program at all). Also, these "fans" need to educate themselves about Beilein, because he is leading The Revolution. All Hail! Go Blue!

Good get!

Good get! I really like the balance that it appears we will have on offense going forward. We'll have some tall receivers with Dukes and Chesson. We'll have some slot ninjas with Norfleet and Hayes. We'll have a variety of tight ends with Butt, Hill, and Funchess. We'll have the QBs with Gardner and Morris. Now if we could just get Ty Isaac and Laquon Treadwell...

I generally prefer fitted hats.

I generally prefer fitted hats for their feel. That said, I always look at the design of the hat, and some of the snap backs have pretty cool designs.

Yeah, I used the Honors

Yeah, I used the Honors program to ensure that I got housing on central campus after I procrastinated well past the suggested housing deadline.

Big reason why Illinois is still in this game?

Burke, Hardaway, Smotrycz first half scoring: 32.

Burke, Hardaway, Smotrycz second half scoring: 2.

(Oh, and the refs.)

OMG! The refs finally

OMG! The refs finally called a foul on the Illini this half. Captain Morgan FTW!
