That is an ass h comment.  Who says Cade is going anywhere.  Cade hasn’t said anything. Rather, he said he is coming back!

Cade is the hero of 2021. Watch any of his interviews and he is a Michigan man through and through.  His heart bleeds Maize and Blue more than you or anyone on the Blog.  He is a team captain.  He deserves our full support as a member of this team up until he makes a decision to go elsewhere.

With a redshirt year in 2019, a COVID year in 2020, a medical injury year in 2022, Cade will have eligibility through 2025.  He can spend 2023 strengthening his knee, getting back to 100% and then take over for J.J. after J.J. goes to the NFL after 2023.  Cade can start in 2024 & 2025.

In the highly highly unlikely even that this plays out as you are describing, it would be hilarious to see him beat OSU again in 2025.

While I hope Cade stays on the team if that is what matters most to him, I think he has starter potential at tons of P5 programs, and I'd expect him to at least explore that.

Good point.  Jadyn will come in as a freshman in 2024.  He will learn the playbook and play in special situations as J.J. did in 2021.  Michigan will win the National Championship in the 2024 season and Cade will go to the NFL.  Jadyn will be the starter in 2025.

It used to be that 2022 could only count as a Medical year if it could be proven that 2019 was a no-play due to injury.  Perhaps the rules have changed in the era of the portal, one-time immediate transfer, etc..... but I don't think they have.

Either way, I'm not saying goodbye yet -- we never know what could happen between now and August 2023 (trying not to jinx JJ's health here).  Possibilities remain that Cade may not be done here.

J.J. QBs Michigan to the National Championship in 2023 and goes to the NFL. Cade QBs Michigan to the National Championship 2024 and goes to the NFL to apprentice under Tom Brady in 2025.  Tom retires after the 2025 season and Cade replaces Tom as the starter.  No medical redshirt necessary.

He is not "the" hero of 2021. Alot of you have rewritten history and made Cade into something he never was.

He was maybe the 4th or 5th most important player on last year's team. He never singlehandedly won a game for M. He had solid moments and very pedestrian , game manager-esque stats, which is fine. We all appreciate his play, for the most part (look at his games against osu and Georgia - not great).

He did what he was asked to do (which wasn't much) behind the nation's best o-line and rushing attack, with (atleast)3 Day 1 picks on defense. And truthfully he put a ceiling on the passing game and the QB run game with his limitations. Alot of D1 QBs would do the same if not more with the team M had last year.

I like Cade for last year but the obsession with making him out to be some savior is way overboard and just annoying at this point.

I wish that I could give you more upvotes. The fact that you reasonably and objectively stated facts and are still getting downvotes says it all.

My favorite comment from the last thread claimed that he saved the program and Harbaugh’s job with the Rutgers win.

Cade had a great game against rutger in 2020. But, he was 16-35 for 165 and 1 td otherwise.

He had 2 tds and 5 ints in his last 6 games.

His faction has made him a legend because they see themselves in him.

I didn't think you are the asshole but apparently at least 6 mgoposters think otherwise.  I think Cade going to the portal is something that he may conclude makes sense for him down the road but it would be in better taste to hold the thought while he is recovering from knee surgery.

I am OK with whatever he chooses to do and will not think less of him as a Michigan man if he goes to grad school elsewhere.

He said farewell...not good riddance.

I think that response is a little overkill. It's just an assumption that he's going to transfer.

How does saying farewell negate any of what you said? All of which are true.

...but let's not bury the lede, when did Cade say he was returning?

29 up votes for this fantasy and 12 negs for a guy saying nothing worse than a sincere “farewell Cade.” Unless McCarthy suffers a horrific injury that puts his status for 2023 in doubt, there’s zero chance McNamara will be back, and if you’re really a McNamara fan, you should be hoping he finds a good spot somewhere else where he can be the starter.

Yes.

Per his post, he got injured last year. Tried to rehab it, seemed like he was heading in the right direction and then got injured again this season. He tried to rehab it again and apparently he wasn't progressing how he wanted, so he got surgery.

Also, IF he is going to transfer, it makes sense to do it now so he can workout for teams after the B1G Championship game (or after the National Championship game if he elected to wait until then).

He's not coming back.  Happens all the time now.   He was great for us last year, and he'll get to fulfill his dreams of being a starting QB somewhere else next year.  Nothing wrong with stating the obvious.

Maybe.  Time will tell.  I wouldn't be shocked either way.  I could also see a scenario where he sits a year behind JJ, gets snaps as back up, competing with Warren. And then bridges the gap to the next gen as starter, if JJ leaves early.  I think either he or Warren can be that bridge.  A lot of variables, and contingent on JJs path, obviously.

Anyway, as much as the prospect of Jayden Davis potentially coming in, I don't think many fans want a true freshman starting unless there are no other options.  Better scenario for someone like Davis too.

Who knows, maybe Cade comes back next year and takes the job back. As the season has progressed it seems like JJ has regressed. I watched last year's OSU game a few days back and Cade hit some passes there that we haven't seen JJ make for awhile.

I know that growth happens over time but there is not been a ton this year that screams JJ jumping to the NFL after next season unless he just lights it up next year. The podcast and others keep talking about JJ being a true sophomore, like that should mean he's a baby deer. He was an elite 5* coming out of high school, put up insane numbers, and played a lot as a freshman. I don't think it's unfair to be a bit underwhelmed with his last several weeks of play. Here's to hoping he coming out on 11/26 spitting fire and taking the game over like Superman.

It's certainly possible, if he recovers in time for spring practice. Do we know time table for recovery?  If he's not able to return for spring, man, that's a long time off. Not impossible to beat out JJ in fall camp, but unlikely. Tough sledding, even if he's back for spring, given how much the threat of McCarthy's legs open up the run game and how much more difficult the offense is to prepare for with JJ running the show.  And those legs have kept several drives alive this year that otherwise would have died. Anyway, rooting for Cade in whatever role he might play.

I did the same and watched the game last night. Cade did make some really nice passes that JJ has not been making lately.   Aside from the INT in the endzone he did what he needed to do to move them up the field.

That was last year though and before he got hurt this season his confidence was shattered, probably due to the pressure of the starting job battle.

That said, it would be nice if Cade was healthy because it would be nice to see him on the field to change things up with JJ struggling a bit.  At the very least Michigan would have an experienced backup.

This might be an "official" notification, since Twitter is, well - the social platform it is.

After Cade made it known he was going in for surgery last week, my assumption was that he'd be out the remainder of the season.

Regardless of his health status (and, by the way - I hope his recovery is both thorough and quick), he'll always have my appreciation (as a fan) for how he led the team - the 2021 season - and, difference he made in the program.

Wishing Cade nothing but the best in every future endeavor - and, whenever he comes back to visit a game, he has an open invitation to visit our tailgate and enjoy both the bar and the food.

Go Blue!  Always....

Love Cade, his fight and what he has done for the program.  Hope he pulls through and is able to do what he wants still with his career, either with us or at another place.  Has potential to be continued positive force with us still with his locker room following ("do it for Cade win" over OSU anyone?) or a starting QB at a lot of schools.

Good luck to Cade with his recovery and everything else.  He has been a terrific leader and quarterback for Michigan football.  A lot of folks here like me think really highly of him, appreciate him, and wish him well in deciding what is best for him and with everything he does.
