Is it possible that this summer starts a trend that A Michigan Hockey Summer isn’t a bad thing? 

Great news! Plus the Sabres are a dumpster fire.

I believe this was expected. The Sabres aren't trying to contend this year, so a player of Owen's caliber who adds potential wins isn't helpful for their long-term vision.

Regardless, excited to see what the #1 pick does with a year under his belt!

Great to hear! I know college hockey is weird with some teams having average ages beyond when most people have already finished college, so Michigan will still be relatively young in years, but if this amount of talent forms a little more chemistry from playing together it could be a special year.

Also they picked up a xfer goalie from RMU who had good numbers as a FR last year in 19 games.

Should be elig. this year as every xfer now is AFAIK

Gentle contradiction to an earlier comment: this is not really "expected." It was considered a hopeful possibility because Owen had telegraphed that he might do this... but there have been two big headwinds:

1. It's Michigan Hockey and we've heard that before;

2. Most importantly: #1 overall picks virtually always sign. Going back to 1997, only one #1 overall pick (Erik Johnson, who came back to college at Minnesota) has not immediately signed and played for the NHL club as early as possible.

So it is extremely unusual that Power is coming back. 

And it's awesome. I hope a couple others come back (Beniers and Johnson together for another year? Look out) but even one is huge. 

If the whole crew comes back, we've got a college hockey Galacticos team. That's a lot of pressure, but also a lot of fun. Bring it. 

With Power, we return a potentially stacked team after having four of the first five players selected in the NHL draft. This is mind-boggling.

Power has said he wants to experience a real year on Campus/  Yost ( No COVID).

Basketball and hockey are going to be very fun this year.
