BTN's Dave Revsine would be surprised if Bolden isn't starter for PSU

On the heels of the Posada announcement I would have to say this is some additional good news that PSU COULD be starting a true Freshman.

BlueSmash, this is like, at least the 7th time today you have said something completely and utterly asinine. In fact, today, it has been the same quote. Other days, it is something else completely and utterly mind-bogglingly stupid and 4Chan-ish. You are a waste of space, man. Just a complete douchebag, at least on the internet. I hope, for your sake, you're an 11 year-old who just saw "Goodfellas" for the first time.

this is the real point... no matter who's starting, based on reports like these Penn St is either looking at sub-standard upperclass QB play or true freshman play (which historical evidence that we have familiarity with suggests at best mediocre and at worst DEATH performance). This can only be good for us in a season where our offense is our  suspected strength and our defense is our weakness. I'd say we can put that Penn St gamee firmly in the toss-up category.

Geeze, I don't know. I watched him play CC twice and both times he didn't seem very impressive, although he wasn't totally surrounded by a lot of talent. But he played very well in St. Mary's championship game.

Bolden is definitely quite the talent, I just couldn't see him transitioning from the calibur of high school talent he faced at OLSM to the big boys in college ball.  If this is true, I see many interceptions in his young career.  Tate did a mighty fine job as a true freshman, so it's not out of the question, I just don't see it immediately in Bolden.

A big difference between Tate and Bolden is that Tate played HS football in California and put up disgusting passing stats out there, so it was clear he could hurl the ball, it was only a matter of adjusting to the college game.  Bolden was praised for his athleticism and potential, but he didn't exactly light the world on fire as a passer.  And MI HS football just isn't that strong of a level of competition.

This is only good news.  This probably means that Newsome is worse than expected, since I've heard OK things about Bolden, but mostly that he's a little raw and needs work on his throwing.  If one of the true frosh started, I would have guessed Paul Jones, since he enrolled early and all.

When I saw Bolden I was impressed with his physical skills.. but it seems like part of his mental game is lacking. Like he's more of an athlete playing football than a football player. I don't know if he's changed that somehow but either way.. yikes.

Penn State better be able to run the ball against Bama.

has been overrated in HS.  Saw him play 4 times and came away not impressed at all with the exception of state championship against EGR in his senior season.

He's a workout warrior and looks good in shorts.  Come game time, he fail to live up to the expectations.

I do see the talent but more often than not, he doens't maximize it.

Other than Darryl Clark, Penn State's record for developing QBs since Kerry Collins is really poor.  I"m not surprised that they are struggling with some young guys.  I'm also kind of puzzled as to why they have been recruiting dual threat guys when they are still a pro-style offense (despite it being called "spread HD").
