Brock's Walk on TV?

Submitted by corncobb on

I have been telling everyone I talk football with about the Brock Mealer story, and how he will lead the team through the tunnel and on to the field. My only question is: Will he be televised for the world to see? I have told so many people about this, and I want them all to be able to experience such a powerful event. Sometimes the noon games run over and I would hate for anyone to miss it. Is there an alternative broadcast on the webz for them to view a dedicated Michigan stream? Will ESPN3 even start early enough to see it? Thank you for your help. I sincerely apologize if this is a redundant question. Go Brock and Go Blue!

I hadn't considered that. That is a really good point in retrospect. I am fortunate to be able to see it in person, but I have so many people interested in seeing him it would be a shame for the network to overlook it. Brock's journey is seriously destined for an ESPN 30 for 30 piece. I get choked up just thinking about it.

I hope they at least show something. Had to give away my tix and I'm DVRing the game since I'll be at a damn wedding. I'm hoping ABC shows something, or maybe someone will record it and post it on youtube.

That person should know better. Just record the wedding and go to the game, and if they ask why you weren't there say, "Brock Mealer only leads the team out onto the field once, and I couldn't miss that for anything."

I'm sure it will be shown unless the game is delayed by the previous game. Keep in mind, telecast starts at 12:30, kickoff is at 12:36. If the start is pre-empted by the previous game, it will be shown as BBF suggested above.

Sorry...my bad for not specifying a time zone (tough crowd!). This reminds me of the story when my friends came to LA to stay with me for the 1998 Rose Bowl and one friend from NY just figured we must celebrate New Year's at 9:00 since NY is the center of the universe. Sorry for not specifying, but it seems pasadenablue figured it out. Well done.

Win or lose, this will be a great moment to witness for everyone. Michigan fan or not, everyone will be watching a miracle on Saturday. And after hearing about how Rich Rod visited him during signing day, the "family values" quote from Boren makes that guy seem like an even bigger asshole. RIch Rod clearly has a big heart and cares about his players. Like I said, win or lose, I can't wait to see Brock tomorrow.

I think ABC/ESPN would be extremely remiss if they didnt do some kind of piece on this story.

I just watched the video they showed this week during Inside Michigan Football, and it is such a great story both in terms of the Mealer family and this team and coaching staff.

I have seen pieces done by ABC on similar stories, I hope they do the same on Saturday. It would be a great way to honor the Mealer's struggle, and would show people that RR and his staff are not the evil monsters that some media outlets have made them out to be.

Go Blue! Go Brock!

The guy is a colleague. He said, "We're (OSU) the pride of the big ten [sic]".

My response: "You have the best team right now, no doubt about it. However, we have a living god as a S&C coach who made the lame to walk. So there's that."

If ABC/ESPN decides not to show Brock Mealer walking down the tunnel, they're a bunch of heathens who would pre-empt coverage of the Second Coming for a re-run of Dancing With the Stars.

I can see this as an OTL or Sportscenter piece.  If it ended up being part of the live game broadcast, though, with a decent set-up, I don't imagine that there would be too many dry eyes for the first few plays.

the Mealer family some time ago?  I know it was posted here.  So I can't imagine they (i.e., ABC-ESPN-Disney) wouldn't know enough about the story to want to follow-up, whether they show the actual pre-game or stick it in as part of re-telling the story.  And I'm sure it will be recorded in professional quality by someone, whether for MGoBlue.com or a TV station/network that knows a good story that's about to happen.

Still, wouldn't hurt for you lucky folks who can be there to try an amateur version...  Thanks on behalf of us all who have to rely on TV.
