Braylon Edwards on SNF

Submitted by MGoGarbs on
Braylon introduced himself as being from "Lloyd Carr's University of Michigan." Think that's a hint at his displeasure towards RRod and the new regime? IME, if you're Blue, you're Blue, no matter who the coach is.

Didn't Woodley intro himself on an MNF as being from Detroit Pershing? What are we to infer from that? Related: Do we think FSU boards are burning up because Laveranues Coles said he was from Jacksonville?

Woodley went to Saginaw High, so I'm guessing he didn't intro himself like that. But really, this stuff doesn't matter. People introduce themselves from different cities, high schools, universities, etc. all the time now, so who cares

Carr was Braylon's coach, and after his father Stan is undoubtedly one of the most important adult men in Braylon's life. The one unfortunate thing about RR's time here is that it has been an opportunity for Carr-bashers to vent their displeasure over Carr's tenure (something RR has never done himself), and I would bet good money that Braylon doesn't enjoy hearing his college coach trashed on a continuing basis by Michigan fans. I interpret this as nothing more than vocal support for his coach, nothing more. BE may well not be a big fan of RR, and he's entitled to his opinion if that's the case. Plenty of alumni players have been vocal and open in their support of RR, but that doesn't mean all of them are in his camp at this time. If BE starts openly criticizing RR, then people can take issue with that when it happens. I remember a few years ago when Woodson mentioned his high school or peewee football team in his TV intro prior to an NFL game. All kinds of folks got outraged over his alleged dissing of his college alma mater. I guess that was an overreaction, right?

Interpret it any way you want, I interpret it as not only a sign of disrespect towards the current coach and staff, but also the current players, training staff and managers as well. Fuck Braylon Edwards. He has gone from one of my favorite players of all time to one of my most disliked in about 12 months. Typical Wide Reciever shenanigans.....his on the field and off the field shenanigans are ridiculous. Go take an acting or modeling class asshole. Fuck you Braylon.

Fuck Braylon. Period. He has every right to not like Rich Rodriguez. I don't blame him for that - it's a free country and he has earned his right as a Michigan Man to have that opinion. But voicing his displeasure in the most public way possible is absolutely classeless. A True Michigan Man wouldn't do that. Like I said, I loved him at the University of Michigan. He was my favorite player of all time. Now I can't stand the asshole. A little maturity is needed with this guy - the money got to his head. Braylon, Go Fuck Yourself. You can probably tell that I'm pissed about this. Because I am. This is utterly ridiculous that he would do that. It doesn't hurt Rich Rodriguez. It hurts Michigan. And that's what pisses me off. Like I read a few weeks ago on a very well written blog piece. As much as we hate going 3-9, 5-6 and missing out on bowls, losing to our rivals and other crappy teams....there's one person on this earth who hates it 100X more than we do and wants it to change 100X as bad as we do. It's Rich Rodriguez. Braylon's theatrics don't do anything to help what Coach Rod is trying to accomplish, which is win championships. Braylon is a fucking prima donna joke. I hope he's a fucking Allouette in a few years.

"loyalty" is a bizarrely formulated quality when you allow your opinion of someone to go from from near idolization to "FUCK YOU, _____" at the snap of a finger, based on one comment that you don't completely understand. Edwards IS loyal to Michigan. The man wouldn't give hundreds of thousands of dollars a year if he wasn't. Pretending otherwise is insanity. If you think this will impact ANYBODY'S opinion of RR, that's insanity. I'm betting that nobody other than the "Michigan Football year-round OCD" crowd here even noticed it. Finally - WHO CARES if he doesn't like Rodriguez? Edwards' comment isn't going to make a difference in whether RR wins 0 or 12 games next year - Rodriguez is going to sink or swim in 2010 on his own, and Braylon's statement will be meaningless.

My "loyalty" to Braylon didn't go away at a snap of a finger. He's done/said some pretty idiotic things in the past 24 months.....additionally, I know a few of his former friends and they say "He done Changed!" Plus, he can't catch shit....overrated.

That's pretty much all it is - ego. It really doesn't matter. You won't hear much more of this stuff once RR starts winning. It would be much easier to listen to Braylon if he had dropped a few less clutch passes, but what he says is pretty much irrelevant regardless. I do however admire his philanthropy, though he would be better served with a slightly quieter approach ala Charles Woodson (who dropped far fewer clutch passes).

Yes, Braylon's comment was a (minor) dig at Rich Rod. No, it was not the wisest thing to say. Big deal. To the people complaining that he is "further fracturing the fan base" -- do you understand how irrelevant we, as fans, are to the team's success? Rich Rod is going to be here next year, no matter how many fans complain about the current state of the program. If the team does well next year, he will be back, and comments like Braylon's will never be thought of again. If the team has only 1 or 2 wins in the Big 10 again, he will be gone, and the fault will lie with Rich Rod, not Braylon.

Dave Harris said "Ottawa Hills" which is where he went to high school, so I wonder if it's a Jets thing. Jay Feely has certainly been running his mouth about it more than an average kicker should.

I love braylon and i love michigan so it is horrible to see this ... however seeing as he is currently PAYING for a full scholie on the football team, something I beat non of us are doing, he probably has a right to speak his mind about the program even if i hate the message
