Usually, when someone gives their employer the rhetorical equivalent of the middle finger, it doesn't end well. On the other hand, firing Frank Solich didn't turn out so well for Nebraska. So basically, Nebraska is screwed.

Ya but MSU isn't easy to recruit at either and he's done just fine there. Nebraska would be easier to recruit at than MSU given their past success. I mean it's really only been a bad 10-12 years relative to Nebraska standards (same for Michigan) and we're doing just fine recruiting. If you get the right guy, which I think Narduzzi is, he can pull in some talent. The only thing he'd have going against him is location but I've heard some okay things about Lincoln.

He has mid-west/B1G recruiting ties so that's a plan.

I really think Nebraska could be the perfect fit for him -- he can do good things there and it's not a high pressure situation. He can lay in the weeds so to speak.

I think your stock of Narduzzi is higher as a Michigan fan that it is nationally as a HC candidate.  That is understandable as he has been a personal nightmare for many since 2010.  I have never heard Narduzzi spoken of for a USC or UF type job.  The man has zero experience as a HC - he seems more likely destined to a Uconn type job to get his feet wet first before making a jump to the next level of jobs if successful.  Maybe Nebraska takes a chance as they have fallen some in prestige but teams like USC and UF have massive recruiting pipeline, top end results of late, and money to spare.  If any Muschamp would dissuade them from Narduzzi as that was another guy with zero HC experience and you never know what you are going to get when they face the real bright lights.

"I mean it's really only been a bad 10-12 years relative to Nebraska standards"

Really?  Pelini has been very Lloyd Carrish/Gary Moellerish the past 6 seasons.  They had fallen to Michigan levels under Bill Callahan however...but now Pelini has pushed them back up to Carr Levels.

I think its harder to recruit there than Ann Arbor as its literally the middle of nowhere but they have more history than EL.

Past 10 - other than that one undefeated season it is pure Lloyd Carr

  • 8-4 (current)
  • 10-4
  • 9-4
  • 10-4
  • 10-4
  • 9-4

Callahan

  • 5-7
  • 9-5
  • 8-4
  • 5-6

Based on what has happened to us, I would say to Nebraska fan...be careful what you wish for.  It feels like 2007 in Ann Arbor right now without the anger factor.

but only if you send me a check for $10,000 right now so we can deposit it in Al's bank account as a downpayment - you'll get it back with interest as soon as Al accepts the job!

Really? I don't know...it sounds really weird that Al needs my money. Almost like one of those weird scams. But if you say so, I guess it makes sense, plus I just REALLY want him gone. So where do send the money now?

One of the more interesting aspects of this is Pelini's wide-eyed look at points, almost as if he's staring at shiny objects off-camera or he has forgotten where he is. Probably the latter, given what he is saying in this presser.

But, I wouldn't want to work anywhere my employer didn't fully back me. Good for him for speaking his mind....even tho that was probably a catalyst to him getting shit-canned.

Just refreshing to hear a coach say what he thinks...instead of just spoon feeding the media and fans a bunch of PC shit that isn't genuine. There's something to be said for standing up for what u believe in.

The Pellini family sure has had quite the year now havent they?  Brother Carl gets bustedf for smoking pot and loses his HC down in Florida, Bo has audiotape released earlier in the year where he's heard basically telling the Nebraska fans to get fucked, they get rolled by UCLA & Minnesota at home and field a historically bad defense by Nebraska standards.  Now Bo comes out and dares the AD to fire him after getting waxed at home by Iowa.

Should be an interesting Christmas dinner.

Common now....you of all people know we are young.  And when you're young it has been proven that it is phyically impossible to win football games no matter what.  I think I remember in the post-game presser Pelini said something to the effect that it was nothing short of a miracle that Michigan stayed within a TD of ANY team, much less Nebraska, given that they were young.  He attributed the valient effort to the increadible coaching those youngsters at Michigan were getting.

Wish Hoke had that..."i"ll kick u in the ass, if your not productive" type personna...He just has to learn what battles to fight, cause to cant fight with the University of Nebraska, you'll loose.

It depends on who is doing the buyout.  Yes, he has several years left on his contract, so Nebraska would have to continue paying if he's fired (without some kind of cause that he violated his contract), but I know at least as of two years ago, the buyout clause for another school--that is what he would have to pay Nebraska if he quit to take another job--was a paltry $250,000.  That would be the ideal situation for Nebraska, but given his recent antics, I'm not sure anyone else really wants to take a chance with him as their HC.
