Block M in student section

Submitted by helloheisman.com on

This was pretty weak.  Blatant ripoffs from another Big Ten school shouldn't be allowed (also looking your way, Script Ohio).

Never again.

It isnt about what the blimp sees.  I was sitting a few sections over from the students and I thought it looked very good.  Now, it would not make sense to do it at ll games, but if we could do it with the big 'uns, that would be cool.  So what if another school has done something first, I challenge you to come up with three Mighigan traditions that were not first done somewhere else.

I thought it was cool.  Look, a lot of things we do are ripped off from one place or another - do you think we invented the concept of everyone in the student section wearing the same shirt?

(By the way, that was the best Maize Out ever.  The whole stadium really looked yellow from above.)

.....the black M made me feel like I was at a Missouri game, which for most of the game would have been preferable.

Its a good idea, but they need to work on the color scheme a bit more.

I thought it was alright, not great, but alright.  At least they did SOMETHING.  If only Michigan could have a true maize out.  Not just a "well, the fans that care will wear maize and then the a-hole fans will wear whatever they want-OUT".  That's a long sentance.

in the second half it started to sag a little bit with everyone probably moving around celebrating.

Also the Maize out looked better than it has before.  Not as impressive as PSU's white out but can you do.

Showed up to my section, my seats were within a section that was taped off.  A few organizers gave me and everyone else who showed up in that area a blue shirt that said something like "ATT presents the first every Block M blablabla."  The student organizers were really strict about making sure the shape and color were consistent until the game started, when it became impossible to enforce.  I for one am surprised and glad to hear that it still looked decent in the second half, when everyone in the stadium started going nuts!  No harm in a little fun, says I.

I have tickets in the student section and this is the first time in my four seasons of michigan football, i ever remember 98% of the students participating in the miaze out.  There is a youtube video of the Save Cody show and the student section was going nuts during the twist and shout.

i thought it looked like the left side did a good job holding the shape... however the left side got a memo saying go italics.  I think it would look better if it weren't in the corner.  it off center from the corner and skewed to the stadium from overhead/straight on.

They need to get some engineers to get it to not be smaller at the bottom than it is at the top.  They didn't account for the curvature of the bowl and tapering of the seating sections.  Engineers, someone.  Fix it.

 Looked good, though.

...but in retrospect, I think it was kinda lame.  I agree with whomever said that it should be where the 'M' in the stands is.

The maize out is getting better.  People will adjust their color of choice to wear to games over time.

The cold weather games suffer, but again, it will take time as season ticket holders cycle in new cold weather gear for games.
