Blake Corum’s record-breaking season

I’m sure everyone is aware that, with 2 touchdowns yesterday, Blake passed Hassan Haskins to set Michigan's single-season rushing touchdown record at 22. He is also the only player in FBS to score in every game this season.

But did you know that Blake’s 22 touchdowns match the season total of 3 Michigan opponents: ECU, Michigan State, and Iowa?

Good shit, Blake!

May be an image of 2 people, people playing football and text that says 'TOUCHDOWNS THIS SEASON OCBS SPORTS 1G BIG MICHIGAN STATE BLAKE CORUM 22 MICHIGAN STATE CENTIRE TEAM COMBINED) 22'

He's also outscored all of Michigan's opponents through the 12 game regular season.  An honor for him and our defense.

Blake:  132
Michigan's Opponents:  123

Surprised Blake didn't run as much yesterday as expected.  Also though Mullings was a lot better than Edwards all season.  You guys know a lot more than I do about this stuff.  Why did Edwards get so many carries?  It was almost like they were rewarding him for last year's game and/or hoping he would pop another long run or two.  It was seriously confounding to me.  Why don't we ever fake the handoff to Blake when he's in the backfield and it's a pass play??

Earlier in the season Brian very aggressively shot down Seth on a pod for suggesting Edwards may not find the NFL super appealing after this season and return. His take looks pretty solid to me now, I know backs don't have a long career but another year of NIL and possibly showing more pure receiver film may improve his prospects.

I think Blake is seen as the first down guy (most of the time), and the short yardage guy on 3rd and 3 inward, and any goal line situation. Obviously this isn’t a strict rule but seems to be a trend.

Donovan certainly seems to get a lot of second down carries, and he’s obviously a great 3rd down weapon on 3rd and 4+ with swing passes and such.

My favorite is when both are on the field obviously in conjunction with a motioning tight end or 2.

Just my 2 cents and from observation, obviously not a strict rule, and I could be wrong.

Also, Blake still had 22 carries

edit: this could also explain our collective frustration with Edwards this year. He’s had a lot of runs straight into boxes on second down which has set up 3rd and 7+ more than we would have wanted.
