What's happening is people are using athleticism to trump literalism. Guy knew he had the catch and was cavalier. People who believe that his lazy approach ability to supersede the robotically specific definition say he made that catch. We punish hands for feet in the NFL now

What more do you have to do for that to be a TD? Was the QB past the line of scrimage? Did he not call the bank? That's the worst call I ever seen and I've watched every Michigan game this year so that's saying something.

you have to compete the pass first. Once the receiver demonstrates possession of the ball, he becomes a runner. A runner in possesion of the ball beyond the goal line is awarded a touchdown.

Since he was hit as he caught it and fell down,to complete the pass he had to demonstrate unambiguous control of the ball all the way through the contact with the ground.

Unfortunately, he did not. Thus the pass was incomplete and there was no touchdown scored.

The refs called it very correctly.

but it is incredible how incompetent the replay officials are. You are some sweaty fat dude just sitting in the box. You get the benefit of looking at the replay as many times as you like, and you STILL f*ck it up an astounding number of times.

Still amazes me that a replay official looked at Bolden's call and said "YES. THIS IS TARGETTING" and another looked at Zettel leaping with his helmet and hitting Rudock under the chin and he says "THIS IS NOT TARGETTING"

After today, out of respect for Wisconsin (who I don't even really like that much), I'll put a moratorium on bitching about the refs screwing us over because that was just plain, pants-on-head awful refereeing that humped Wisconsin far worse than anything so far.

This moratorium will, of course, expire after the first snap next Saturday.

did they negate the TD for?    And yes the refing has been noticeably biased this season with Michigan repeatedly getting the short end of the stick.

from Wisconsin-Northwestern. I immediately got flashbacks to Michigan-Michigan State. I don't have any easy answers but this season's replay booth and on-field calls really need to be examined. The B1G needs to isolate and eliminate the bad variables. One example: for the M-MSU game, we got a booth official with no coach/player background whose referee experience revolved around 20 years of high school basketball in the Chicago area, and a little over a year with B1G football, and when he wasn't performing his day job. I only mention Chicago because of proximity to the B1G office - this sounds like an expedient hire that sounded good at the time, or maybe I just don't know how hard it is to find eminently qualified officials, no matter how well-intentioned they are. Seems especially risky when that referee is assigned to a game that will predictably matter in the rankings/standings. Getting off my soapbox now.
